I used Trex years back. I like the appeal of not having to refinish. That being said i found its lost its luster-finish over time. That being said they say the newer product is apparently better. Not sure of the pricing today but what i found to be crazy is the price of those little plastic install clips you need to use. I ended up finding them in NY for considerably cheaper. I would use it again for sure. Might have to sell a sled to pay for a deck the size my wife would want.

Stay well.

I am rebuilding my deck right now, I used Trex 16 years ago with the blind clips, 600 dollars for that fastener system, all the boards are now cupping up, really should have drilled and screwed them down with square drive stainless steel. So I priced the materials, Trex is 45 % more than Mahogany, I am going with the real wood, this close to retirement, I will oil it once a year.

Refurbished an old (2005) Gravely zero turn. Put about $1500 into it,  runs like a clock now. What a beast! I have a little over 2ac to mow and cut the mowing time by 1/3.  Once I get used to it (little tricky to run) I think I will cut my mowing time in 1/2. The only beef I have is you can't drink a beer unless you stop! BTW my John Deere x738 did a fine job. I'll keep that for picking up the leaves in the fall.

If you time it right you can sip on the straightaways, rest one hand where the levers meet.  I got a couple lines that aren’t exactly straight while experimenting with the straight line sipping technique...maybe start in the back yard so your neighbors don’t piss they’re pants watching the first couple practice runs

Put in a new septic system this spring.  Tank and leach lines. Anyway living on the St Lawrence no problem keeping it irritated.  Well they said we were going to have high water. It's been really dry as the same as a lot of other places.  The river is kinda low and the reason is I've pumped all the water from the river on to my new lawn. Its like July here. Going to be a hot summer guys. That mean a cold winter with tons of snow.  I think.

Coming along for sure, all composite Trex.  Nice stuff but need to take your time.

"Great minds"...

Princess got Bob-the-Builder laying down Trex decking. But redoing the uprights & bench with real termite food.

Thanks again to Snowmaster2112  Teet F8SP for the ebike inspiration last year!  Still haven't gotten the quads out into the Berkshire state forests yet this season. But we've been getting off the couch a bunch, all up & down the Saw Mill River & Bronx River Pkwy's bike paths, and the actual BRP shuts down for bikes & blades on summer Sundays.

Bonus: My overweight-foodie doc and I bumped into each other last week at the local pharmacy (picking up snacks), we complimented each other for losing a few lbs, and the next day his PA calls me to say Doc wants to see you in the office, dang, I went in this morning, and he just wanted to take my BP... 124/80 not bad at all!

Local trails are well groomed:

Not too many Bambi's, but sometimes Canadian traffic-jams:

Plenty scenic in/around suburbia:

Give a shout if any of you Berkshire Boys (or Girls) are interested & up for quadding Pittsfield or October Mtn forests on upcoming summer weekends.

I hear ya. This deck project I need to take full responsibility. It’s replacement is directly related to my actions. Though only with the best of intentions, I made a major mistake. The idea was good the results were, let’s say bad.... is putting it mildly.

Started out great, as I used my 4500psi pressure washing rig to clean concrete patio. Beautiful.

Then it went like this, the conversation in my head was sort of.....

”hey that works great let’s try it on the pool deck.”

“yeah yeah do it”

4500 psi might be just fine but its all about the nozzle. Mine shredded the deck into carpet of torture. Splinters for all.

Game over. Play again.
