mikerider
Josie has become the kayak dog my wife had hoped for. She rides along great, jumps out and likes to run the shoreline, and also enjoys a good swim alongside the kayak. Just got home from a few weeks retreating in the mountains. She is wiped. I earlier posted about National Geographic being at the camp to film a series. Apparently its legit, by the time we left there was a crew of about 40 people from all over the country. I won't give away the story but it sounds like it could be interesting. Will be shot in the far backwoods at 18 remote sites in the middle of nowhere. I did see a map left on the office table one day so I got to see all the locations. A fairly young crowd and they were all exceptionally nice. May be aired next spring or summer on the NG channel or History Channel, which I guess are all under the umbrella of Disney. Maine has a huge loon count, and on these wilderness lakes the loons like to gather from all over the lake each morning, and as it happens, they do so right in front of the dining hall. Loons hate it when small planes go overhead and get really pissed. So one morning the film crew sent out a drone to film the loons. The loons at first went nuts and started their panic calls. Then they started diving. About 15 minutes into this, the loons all lined up and started swimming, following the drone like it was their fearless leader. Pretty funny stuff. mikerider
Bug season pretty much over for the season. Its beautiful area of Maine. Seems strange to kayak lakes that are ten miles long and hardly ever see a power boat. The bugs (Black flies, mosquitos) are fierce for very short periods each year much like most parts of our beautiful country.... However, When asked about bugs we often describe Maine bugs like these as 747’s and bloody horrible. That helps keep the summer infestation of the real bugs (tour-on’s and their traffic) down a little. hahaha P Hardy, smclelan, PLAYHARD and 1 other 1

PLAYHARD
Not turning fuel into noise at this time. Alpha's Duramax was kinda blowing fudge out the tailpipe, so I'd been nursing the skinny pedal for a while. And when a buddy started wrenching on her and asked if she'd been sluggish lately I had to say I dunno? Long story longer, he literally busted a knuckle removing a bolt to the burnt turbo, so he heels and she sits... And I e-bike... Pipeman
Traded my F850gs for a KTM 790R really like it so far. Then I traded my 1290 super adventure for a Multistrada 1260 grand tour. Blueblood
Way to support our economy . Love both bikes I have a harley ultra classic that lately has been bothering my knee because of low seating position. Three seats later and I'm still not happy. Pockets way lighter though. Have been thinking a adventure tourer may be what I need. PLAYHARD

I would work the adventure bike angle helping though with the wife, bound to help with the negotiations 😀 PLAYHARD

PLAYHARD
Returned to Rock'tober Mtn State Forest with our niece & her man on the Grizzlies, started out on familiar School House Road trail (I would have stayed in school if this was the way). Then we get to the end and the familiar clearing and... Hmm... Just curious... Let's see where this other trail goes?! It's amazing that after riding this forest for 40+ years there's still stuff I haven't done. And hardcore technical stuff at that. Anyhow, these "kids" hung like Gangstas and never doubted their Uncle's direction, no matter how lost I actually got us (silly rabbits)... iceman, dooright, zeusand and 3 others

I probably have ridden every trail on that mountain over the last 50 plus years, yes it has a lot to offer. 40 years ago, when there were little rules for dirt bikes and no 4 wheelers or bicycles there were twice as many trails. Over half of those trails are now grown in, and that was before they started putting those locking steel gates up to lock us off our property. If you went there every weekend for a full season you might see it all, great way to enjoy the weekend. Living there on the mountain, maybe I loose a little appreciation for how beautiful it is on a daily basis, thanks for the pics, really great!! Je me souviens
Went to “ride the wilds” in N.H. last weekend. Took off from Gorham and ended up having lunch at the buck rub in Pittsburgh. The snack shack definitely has a grand view.
