That's the one, just west of Saint Anne des Mont.

The trail has changed and does not go by the bus now.  First time I saw a picture of the bus it was taken by Rob Lyons back in the early days of HCS.

Bob, we were some of the fortunate to catch good ice in the 1990’s  and rode out to the rock.  The real funny thing was, it all depended on which way the winds was blowing. You could be there one day and it was frozen in, the next day the ice coule be gone and wide open waterF05849C5-7178-402C-88B7-BE8401058961.thumb.jpeg.ff74356ecda5bbfc2ebec75cb935dc58.jpeg

A whole different feel being out there how big it really is, I wanted to climb on to the top.

Back in 08 we stayed at  Fleur de Lys.

The owner had a bunch of old pics with sleds out at the Rock (I had no idea it could be done). He said it didn't freeze up like that in many years.

He mentioned that the road crews could not dump snow into the water anymore because of the salt. He said that it made it challenging clearing the roads in high snow years.

Here it is.

Now here is a classic with Zuesand and who is that young guy with him at what hotel in Amqui??

OK, this is Hotel Select in Amqui, we were snowed in for 2 days, snow was so deep groomers could not pull drags and ran tractors only just to break trail, we invited Groomer to dinner , it was a great evening, we left there and spent 3 days in New Brunswick, the trail to Moose Valley had 20 foot drifts, most snow I have ever seen, one of the famous storms the crippled the Gaspe and northern New Brunswick. Always have a few spare days in your pocket when planning a big trip out there, the weather can change everything, a great adventure.

Looks a bit like Chalet Restigouche, NB

Sure seems it Howard  , here's a pic of the fuel spot.  I figure  Bob's picture was taken from there ?

Nice cabin we stayed at at Restigouche. if I remember correctly,  you pointed us in that direction:-)

Is the village St Jean Port Joli? Think it maybe the Le Massiff ski hill you see on the north side of the St Lawrence.
