Nothing is officially open yet.

yes some grooming here and there but not officially open.

This section is just marked red for protection of club. Probably enough snow there to try it but its not open.

Does this make sense? Understand?

Saw this today Dec. 19 on FB

Really puts a wrench in the Cote Nord run.

Special appreciation to all the club members that have to deal with these ongoing trail access issues.

Hopefully they can get the issue resolved quickly DF011869-F3DB-41DD-A3D3-9104E0591C98.thumb.png.32f2a81a7d18b8592541ff0b67102cc0.pngC350A22B-15F0-4749-80A4-6EEE6395365B.thumb.png.95143caa3507bd271d5f33675a67a678.png

Houston we got a problem. Gotta believe if there is a way to bypass it they will or resolve it with the landowner. Cote Nord will suffer badly with no access.

We need permanent trails and now.

There is more issues for TQ3

it’s not just right of passage problems

2 bridges unsafe.

Unless there is an imminent major turnaround, winter tourism enthusiasts, snowmobilers from the Côte-Nord and more particularly those from the Haute-Côte-Nord, will have to be content with hikes determined according to the condition of the TQ-3, sectioned.  in two places due to the closure of the Sault-au-Mouton river bridge (Longue-Rive) and the Aux Pins river bridge (Forestville).

After submitting separate requests for financial assistance to the Ministry of Transport, the Club Quad HCN for the work of the bridge and the Rivière aux Pins trail, the estimated costs of which are $ 467,000, and the Club Les Exploreurs de Longue-Rive  for the replacement of the Sault au Mouton river bridge, the costs of which are estimated at $ 180,000, were refused their projects.

In order to resolve the impasse and above all open up entirely the hinterland of the Haute-Côte-Nord as the snowmobile season approaches, a meeting of the various stakeholders was held at the Town Hall of Forestville on  23 August.  Led by René-Lévesque MNA Martin Ouellet, it brought together representatives from the Municipality of Longue-Rive (Yves Laurencelle), Forestville (Micheline Anctil), Yves Beaudoin from the MRC HCN, Rémi Gaudreault president of the  'Association of Quad Clubs of the Côte-Nord, while Yannick Claveau, Dany Gagnon from the Federation of Quebec Snowmobile Clubs, Yoan Perron from the Federation of Quad Clubs of Quebec as well as Paul Langlois from Tourisme Côte-Nord attended virtually  , while Yvan Maltais president of Club Quad HCN and Alain Mercier liaison officer, Marc-André Bouchard and Gérard Quinn of Club Les Exploreurs de Longue-Rive and co-owner of Domaine du lac des Cèdres Richard Nicolas, were present.

The Club Nord-Neige de Colombier-Forestville, for its part, obtained confirmation of financial assistance of $ 48,000 from the Fédération des clubs de motoneigistes du Québec (FCMQ) for the repair of the Rivière aux Pins bridge.  "I understand the disappointment of Club Quad since the repair of the trail has less impact on us," comments the president of Club Nord-Neige, Mike Tremblay.

By a combination of circumstances and poor communication it goes without saying, the Club Nord-Neige was conspicuous by its absence from the Monday meeting.  In a telephone interview with the Journal Haute-Côte-Nord, Mike Tremblay, confirms "never heard of this meeting", although a member of his board of directors had been informed by telephone, awaiting the invitation.  official as well as the link to attend virtually.

Asked if his organization was going to join the group, the latter was unable to answer, indicating "that he was not present and not having heard everything that was said, I will not sign.  no blank check without knowing.  "

Despite this, at the end of the meeting, everyone agreed to come together and talk about a single project for all the work required to rehabilitate ORV trails, namely the TQ-3 (  snowmobiles) and the TQ-50 for quads.  The bearer of the file, MP Martin Ouellet, promises a quick return and in the name of the North Shore, he will focus on the aspect of the very significant financial benefits generated by the recreational tourism sector, while the vastness of the northern territory.  coast is interrupted by these bridge closures imposed by the Ministry of Energy, Natural Resources (MERN) for safety reasons, but without the financial support of the Ministry of Transport (MTQ).

The president of the Club Quad HCN Yvan Maltais expressed his fear of seeing his Club of 55 members close the books in 2022, since if the TQ-50 is inaccessible in its entirety, the membership cards will not find takers.  Same story with Richard Nicolas of the Domaine du lac des Cèdres in Longue-Rive, who has suffered the repercussions of the pandemic and the bypassing of the TQ-3 in the Longue-Rive sector since last year, keeping people away.  users and tourists of his business, which also leads to safety issues for snowmobilers according to him.  "We are holding on but another winter like that and it will be over," he said.

The possibility that Boisaco will carry timber next winter via the multi-use path which acts as a bypass in the Longue-Rive sector was discussed during the meeting.  Alain Mercier, liaison officer of the Club Quad HCN, confirmed to the Journal that Boisaco was not considering transporting timber in this sector in the short term.

For MP Martin Ouellet, the appeal slogan of the Côte-Nord region, Between nature and disproportion, takes on its full meaning here.

So I am starting to plan some trips to Quebec.  So as it stands right now, I could not get to Sept Isle from Quebec City?  And would need to take the ferry to Baie Comeau?

Not looking promising, but could change. When will we know? Not before the snow falls probably.

I am looking at the map and info on Google Maps, is it a First Nation right-of-way issue?

Yes.  Indigenous members were apparently being charged by trail enforcement while on the trail on the reserve.  So they closed the trail.
