Stan, some great memories there, he was a true gentlemen and legendary for being a great guy and a great host, everyone who checked in got to sit down in the lobby and have a free beer and socialize with him and maybe get to hear him play, may he rest in peace forever.

Steve calls back he got us hooked up

He gives us Dave’s number to call him direct. He is available. Dave is the man.

Class 1 truck driver lots of experience no worries with pickup and trailer. He says no problem, Alain explains where truck is parked and how to get in it. He says it’s under control. He will be on the road to us at 6:15am. Perfect.

He arrives at 8:10am in Matane. Load sleds pack gear. We are off like a prom dress for RDL. Awesome nice guy and used to groom for club in RDL. Snowmobiler and I explained Quebecrider to him and he texted me a screen shot of him signing up this afternoon. Great asset found in RDL. Certified rescue driver when needed. Best $200 ever spent. We tipped him too. But hey taxi was $330 from Matane or from RDL same price cause you pay coming and going.

His number is saved in my phone and look forward to seeing my new friend anytime I get to RDL.

Great conversation about trucking and all kinds of stuff 2 hours passed quickly. Into RDL and it is bare near hotel. Mud.and grass. We say our goodbyes for now. And westbound 20 to Quebec City lunch at St Hubert and back in Trois Riveres at 2:40pm.

Certainly not how I hoped my season would end, my rides with the wife this year were the highlight, watching her mature as a rider is awesome.

My sled is off to the doctor on Monday just in case things turn around for a last hurrah.

This season was a tough one but no need to tell you all who could not even get here.

Next year we will make up for it. Big Time.

Tried out a new helmet shield cord this trip

not that I even needed heated shield in the first two days but wanted to try it out.

not cheap and made here in Quebec

saw these last year but lets say the first models last year were not that good.

it has been improved and uses magnets to join helmet cord to cord from sled. Works awesome and has bright blue indicator light showing power is on to shield

real nice

pricey but built to last

In due time the sticker will be affixed. :  )

Thank you for the play-by-play. I very much enjoyed following along and viewing the relais as they were familiar.

Head for Cochrane Ontario.  From there west to Hornepayne is still mid winter conditions.  No need to hang the towel up yet.

The Gaspe is still fine is just getting in and out of town when you come down from the elevation.

Matane, Sainte Anne des Monts and Cap Chat still accessible?  Or do you need to trailer up from them as well?

Still accessible but matane borderline from Quality inn

bare in towns all asphalt gas/hotels

cap chat better than Matane access wise

did not see mont st anne but further out it should be good as well.

They do look good.  BRP kinda snuck in on them with e-linq.  Still should sell well.

Too bad on the trip. I think last year or the other it got cut short as well.

Hoping to be down there this weekend and based on  your intel i think we will drive through to Rimouski. Which place in Rimouski would you suggest that's closest to the trails and likely less road running?

I knew Alain had a Ford before i saw the pictures. I own one for that reason alone. The door keypad. Leave the key in the console and if stranded anyone can get in and come to our rescue. In the summer go to the beach or whatever and leave the key. I wish the others would have this feature not that Ford is terrible, GM rides nicer though.

Glad to hear you're giving it another go later this week. We all look forward to your stories.

I own a Ram, I can unlock doors from my phone anywhere I have internet. It is a nice feature ehh.

Bienvenue Dave!  Likewise!  Make some noise here if & when you ever need a beer (or Jack Daniels) or rescue!

Happy trails,
