mccaffrey
Just went through there last Thursday, never did see the new owner of the trail, I can see why it doesn't want to leave the trail with all the snow around Mont Lyall. Signfan
Sounds like the drifts caused a few groups to turn back. Drifts at Mont Lyall were large (6' tall easily), but our group and a few other groups did get over them. Even a cpl yamaha's made it. Trail should be better today with it being groomed (we passed the dozer 10 km passed Mont Lyall and he was headed up through), but probably not great. He only got one pass in and had unhooked the drag for the Mont Lyall section. According to imotoneige he made it. Whether the moose is still there? Who knows. That's two of them causing sledders grief in the mountains. There is definitely no lack of snow up here right now. More snow coming Saturday, so this all starts again. Fun fun. Snobeeler
We went through there a few hours ago did not see her but did see one on the side of the trail that was deceased very sad. It was a calf. To make matters worse we saw another deceased calf on 595 heading north above orange trail. PLAYHARD
NSHM
Not sure how much browse/ food they can actually reach from the trail. If there was no trail at all they most likely still would have died with all that snow, but no one would even know. Sad fact of nature. mccaffrey and PLAYHARD

Thought it was dead initially but it was still alive. Just moved its head as we rode around it. Some blood on the trail but no obvious reason what led to its demise. Saturday we rode down the 595N for 25 km from trail 5. Incredible the amount of fresh moose sh•t on the trail but surprisingly never saw a moose.
