quebec bob
I have found that pledge spray on furniture wax on my hood and windshield prevents icing from sleet and freezing rain Snohorse

quebec bob
I don't know about that but it kind of works like rain x and it's easy to do, works on helmets too, a neat trick that helps with all that glove action when on your face shield
iceman
31 March Thursday Woke to a dusting of snow still snowing at 6am. Knew this was not going to last. We dis breakfast and after 8am its now snow rain ice all of it. We head out to give it a try. Up 373 to Relais Buttes. Here Playhard has seen enough, well not seen enough actually as the weather is playing havoc on his Helmet shield. We split the team he is gonna meander back and NHmoose and I push on. Up 373 then local across river just past relais. Orange local up past Chute de l’ours and rejoin 93. Up we go its rain now but we push on. Orange trail up to just near Lac a Jim. Then back left on 93 back down the bump out as we call out of 93. Now a bit of freezing rain up here. Getting encapsulated by the minute. Trails still unbelievable and despite the westher we are having a blast. Back south and just rain now again. We had planned to head to Resto du Chef then loop back through La Dore but that mission was scuttled as we are really getting rained on now. The novelty has worn off. We agreed it was time to bee line it back to hotel. Back in around 11am. 88 miles. We were glad to ride a bit. Got gear drying in room. We regroup and decide to take truck to Du Chef for lunch. Rest of afternoon is a lazy day. We are plotting are next ride tomorrow as long as rain has gone. It will be warm here until tomorrow night so surely no purple lines tomorrow to see. But we will manage. Some riding better than none. Already talk of riding through Monday or Tuesday it’s been that good we don’t want to leave. iceman
1 April Friday Out on sleds early by our standards. Rain stopped overnight. Cloudy definitely warm today but we know it should not rain anymore and it will get colder later this afternoon. We are also determined to get out and ride. Tour du Lac today. Counterclockwise. Leaving hotel in front of supermarket and shopping center was thin and boney since we been here. Now after the rain it’s naked. Not for a long way but naked grass and mud and a puddle that was quite the sippy hole. We bust out of there we had decided to try it and see how it went. Not sure how soft trails would be. It was fine yes near alot of road crossings and through town along sidewalks etc, is getting thin. 373 south through Roberval very good. Then the run on 83 was really fantastic. Down through Chambord and then over to near Desbiens where the water crossing there while solid (as were all we encountered today) had a good bit of standing water, then heading off Playhard is in front as he went Bonzai right across the ice/water while John and I took it all in. We follow. On the exit there is no more water but a new hazard, the stakes going left David follows them, I am seeing a pretty worn in trail more well traveled than the sticks path if you understand. Anyway Playhard comes to a stop as so does the trail. The ice has dropped and you cannot get to shore there...hence the other well traveled path is the go around. Should have been some yellow tape or at least remove the red stakes leading people there. With low vis someone will be going in there all innocent just following sticks. Anyway we were looking for a gas here but think its closed now or no trail we saw. There used to be one. We continue on trail really excellent still here. Just past Junction with 383 we go get gas at Shell there and backtrack to 383. To be continued.... dooright, PLAYHARD and Snohorse
iceman
1 April Friday 383 through Metabetchouan still decent here very good. Up on 383 to St Gedeon still great riding. We ride up to join 23 and head toward Alma. Real boney and rough along the road heading for Alma. I figured if Anywhere would be thin it might be here and in many places it was, but it’s normal these are end of times. We take local orange trail down to Auberge des Isles nice place we were scouting out on the recommendation of NHmoose. We plan on working this in next time up here. Down through orange and around and back to 23. The last of 23 in Alma before 93 is sketchy over the bridge there is just frozen sand all the way. Once we get to 93 all is forgotten. We leave the badly decaying trails near Alma behind ond it’s 93 now to Saint Henri de Tallon 93 super good all the way through St Monique and beyond to St Jean d’arc where we gas em up. Onward 93 super still. Great ride just until after crossing river Misstitini in Dolbeau. We rode this 2 days ago and after the river here just to orange local back toward St Felicien its roughed up. I seen worse but not at all what we have been seeing all week. We converse and decide to push on up 93 to 373 its much better going here night and day from a few miles back. We rule out the upper loop through Lac a Jim and settle for 373 which was outstanding and continue to oranges thru Normandin and down to cross before joining 373 north of Relais Buttes. Smooth sailing back and into hotel. Kinding spoiled riding dirty no sadlle bags Loving the 1.6” track on Apex (now know as rooster) Zero sleds seen today besides us. Nobody. Love It Until next time mikerider, P Hardy and quebec bob
