Mike, I will echo your experience. We have been riding BRP sleds the past few seasons. It was time to replace my wife’s 2019 900T. She really wanted to try a sled with smart shocks, so we were going to order one. I was looking around to see if there were any holdover sleds with smarties, and I stumbled across an 850 VR1 with Dynamix for thousands less than a Spring Order would have been. We rolled the dice and bought the sled. She has 4,000 miles on the sled and it has been flawless. She is constantly talking about how much fun it is to ride. Her pace has improved and she seems less fatigued at the end of each day. Her 850 is always within 2 litres of my 900R at the pump, but I always run out of fuel first because my tank is smaller. Every time I ride her sled, I don’t want to give it back. It is very easy to ride fast. I will seriously consider a Polaris for my next sled purchase if we can make it through another season without any issues.

Any year end update on the Polaris?

We rode 539 miles out of Relias Onatchiway last weekend. Most of it was still excellent. We even made it all the way to Lac St. Jean. What a winter!

Looks like a 900 Turbo. They must have overfilled the tank.

Thank you for all the tips. We had a wonderful trip. We ended up launching out of RDL. We spend the first night at Grande Village with lunch at Domaine Valga. Day 2 we hit the Chic Choc trail. We stopped at La Cache for coffee and Murdochville for lunch. We spent the night in Gaspe at Hotel Baker. Day 3 was the north shore. Visibility was not as good as we hoped, but it was still fun. Lunch at Delice was great. We stayed at Grand village again on day 3. Day 4 was back to the truck. Lunch again at Valga. We ended up riding a lot more miles than I was expecting. 1,032 in total. We are already making plans to go back!

Alright, I have hotels booked so we are going. The way I have it reserved, we could run the north shore clockwise or counter clockwise. If weather were equal, which way would you run it for the best scenery? This may be a moot point if one day is sunny and the other isnt.

We picked up a leftover 2025 850 VR1 to replace my wife’s 900T Adrenaline. She absolutely loves the sled. I have only ridden it once, but there was a lot to like. The Polaris is very easy to ride fast.

This is all great intel for our first Gaspe trip. Assuming we start in Matane, what are some good lodging recommendations on the way to Perce along 5, 595, and 597?

We are from VT and we are not afraid to drive. I was looking at Matane as a potential starting point. I was playing with the Imoto app last night. Looks like 5 all the way to Perce, then 597 to 595 back to Matane looks achievable.

If you had 3-4 days to ride any part of the Gaspe Peninsula, which parts would you choose and why? My wife and I are looking to make the trip later this winter. We are good for 150-200 mile days and would like to experience the most scenic sections.

Fuel economy is greatly affected my your thumb on this sled. I have ran out of fuel in less than 110 miles running it hard in sport mode, and I have made it 140 miles before in standard/Eco when I knew I needed to be conservative.

I have 4,000 miles on mine. The rear skid is the best I have ever ridden, and I have tried them all. Suspension requires more fine tuning than a renegade to get the sled to handle somewhat flat. Fun factor is high and you can pretty much lift the skis at will. I would recommend a set of scratchers. Fuel economy isn’t as good as a Doo 900R if that is important to you. After 4k miles, the 1.6 Ice Cobra was starting to fall apart. I am in the process of installing an Ice Arrowhead with Dupont slides and fresh shocks. Looking forward to riding again soon.

Bumping this thread. Last season we rode the north shore/Mont Valin as our first Quebec trip. We loved it so we will be buying season passes. We are interested in doing 3-4 day bag trips, or just finding a nice hotel or chalet to do day trips out of. We are not afraid to drive, so I’d love some suggestions on must see trails and scenery/food.

Do you think it will hang on another week? We are thinking of heading up the 28th for 3 days.
