The future of quebecrider...

The next few days are going to be critical for the future of QR. One of three things is going to happen:

1. Things remain the same and we continue to limp along.

2. The site disappears for a while before i post an update.

3. It's gone for good.

I would grab any key information or contact info you might want to be on the safe side. If it's #3, I'll post a special link on my personal website https://www.howsitrunning.com for updates.

It looks like quebecrider.com has been renewed for another year! At a minimum, we will be able to limp along for the rest of the season, then figure out a path forward during the off-season. Happy rid

  • So what I am hearing is the Domain Registration needs Rob's approval sent to his email to accept the renewal and we cant get that. Proving ownership needs a current license , Passport , etc.... o

  • Being a software developer, tester I would gladly help out with anything IT related if needed. Feel free to shoot me a message.

sad

i'm not sure what's going on administratively but I can just imagine.

This site has been a BIG part of a lot of our lives over the years and countless friendships have been formed solely because of it.

Information you cant POSSIBLY get elsewhere is one of the things that makes QR so special. That and the "active" members.

I cant imagine snowmobile season without it. Again, very sad.

And to everyone I have talked with and personally met over the years through QR a BIG THANK YOU !!!

It's disappointing. I'm not sure of the baseline cause, but if someone is ill, I wish for a speedy recovery. If someone or multiple people don't have the time to maintain it, I, too, understand that. I am grateful to all for their time, energy & posts, as this site and the information contained herein have been very helpful to me. I hope the site can be functional to what it once was.

To each of you, thank you.

It will be sad if the band has to break-up. 😔

Good luck on getting it fixed.

Yes, what do we need to do to keep it going?

I agree with everyone, while I am not a big poster, I have found this forum so very beneficial over the years.  Thank you all administrators for putting this collaboration together and like willb said, if there's anything that us members could do, please let us know.  We would really hate to see this go!

My go to place from near the beginning… I can’t begin to explain the number of friends and contacts… all wonderful people and memories… this has been a special place for many of us…A BIG thanks to Ice for supplying us with invaluable info … as well as all the other contributors… hopefully we keep this group together…Bob….413-441-2224….text… here to hoping!!

Sad to hear, this is by far the best source for information on snowmobiling in Quebec. Will miss it for sure, the Facebook page version is filled with nonsense and very little useful information

Will it be up and running in 2 weeks? Sorry couldnt resist. Best forum ever!🙂

I hope QR can continue. All of us in northern NY rely on it all the time. Good luck!

Shit! Whatever "we" can do to help please let us know and Huge Thanks!!

This site is filled with friendships. So sad if we lost it, but special thanks to those who kept it up and running for all these years.

Not sure this is appropriate, but should we choose an alternate site to meet should this site go down temporary or permenantely until we get reorganized. Dootalk, or HCS, as both have a Quebec section. Thus we would not lose contact.

I want to be frank about what I say. First I truly appreciate the person and persons that have kept me informed of trails, trail conditions, where to stay and best of all stories of everyones experiences riding these trails.  The frankness,  what is the reason for the problems the site is going though. Is it financial, lack of help or maybe we need to try to get more sponsors for the site.   I think and hope it can be fixed.

Thanks for doing all that has been done over so many years.

For the newQR.com if it does come to that……

Let’s not use the same web developer as they used for IMotoneige.

I hope we do not lose this site as it has always been a go-to for me to find out valuable information.

The knowledge the members have shared, on the site, has been invaluable over the years from places to stay and which trails you must ride when you're in a certain area and the hidden gems.

Hopefully we can rally the Quebec riders and keep this site going. Whereelse am I going to get my food porn?

Do we know what the problem is?  Its been great for me for the past 10 years for sure.  Just curious what was going on?

Thank you

as shared by others it would be a sad day to see the site disappear. So much history, pertinent, useful info and a wide variety of characters!

At minimum, I would hope all reconvene on a new or relaunched site.

Awesome 🙂

Sad news. this site has  definitely been a great resource for Quebec riding. I as well have met many great people from this site, both in the winter on the trails and summertime at the great gatherings we used to have!. Hoping we can still tag along for the future rides and trail reports.

Fingers crossed Gary can save QR, the loss of this site would be huge.  The information here is irreplaceable for sure. Plus the QR community itself, I have many friends on QR.  Some of these friends I have met, some I have rode with, and other friendships through the keyboard.

So the quebecrider.com domain name has expired, and in ~5 days or so the site will likely stop working. Apparently acquiring this domain is a lengthy process, >30 days. We can try creating an entirely new domain, quebec-rider.com or another name suggestion and then transfer to quebecrider.com if i can acquire it. Thoughts?

Also, if anyone has input on forum software to use, let me know. I can host everything and would like to keep everything free. I dont think this site is a big load. My site uses wordpress and they have bbPress that i was going to try...
