Lynx Xterrain

I am planning it Snow-Check a new sled this coming spring. I have been hearing good stuff about the XTerrain. Can anyone on here share their experiences on one, good and not so good They are a premium price but I am lead to belive they are worth it. Thinking of one with the 900 Turbo R. I really like the thought of the 146" skid.

This review might be of interest to you. I believe markusvt rides one. He had a write up on dootalk.

I saw that video and a couple others with that sled. Their videos are what spurred my interest in this sled.

Have never owned one, so can’t add much. They look like really cool sleds. Definitely more capable than other options from other brands. That said one downside I’ve heard is they don’t seem to fetch a premium in the used market. An 850 doo vs lynx of similar mileage, year and condition seem to sell for the same used. But you pay more for the Lynx new. No big deal if you’re keeping it. If you deal annually could be a consideration.

I put 5K miles on my 2023 in one year. One of my favorite sleds. Meant to be driven hard with very good off trail and deep snow capabilities.

The rear skid is what really attracts me to the XTerrain. I would get a Back Country if it was offered with a 900 R engine and 43" front end.

The rear skid can handle higher speeds with bigger bumps than the Backcountry. As it turns out it works really well for Quebec touring also.

That is where my mind is, throw some bags and a gas can on back, it should handle that well and bridge most of the whoops on the trail. Plus not as bulky as an Expedition Extreme.

Much, much much more nimble than an Expedition Extreme.👍

I bleed blue but running out of blood.

I like this Lynx XTerrain as well.

Maybe next year

On trail it really handles more like a 137", but if you pull off to go around a groomer or have to do a bypass or go over a snowbank it doesn't get stuck. Local shop sells a handful every year, and now you can get it in black. This year comes with more extras, including a heated seat.

Do you stud them? Also which track are you putting on yours when you order?

For MY26 on the 900R you had no choice, 1.6 IC track, pre-studded. The chassis will take a 2" no problem, bigger I think. I like the 1.75 Hurricane with screw in studs or the 1.5" Ice Storm. No more push through studs for this kid.

I'm trying the new Ice Arrowhead this winter. I think from what I read should be an awesome track.

I am intrigued with the Lynx as well. Going to talk to the local dealer about a demo ride this winter and see where that goes. Only 3 months before Snow Check season lol.

I just picked up my spring checked XRS 900r with 1.5” ice ripper in mineral blue. I have to say, the Lynx Xterrain has me intrigued as well. Maybe in a couple of years? I’m pretty sure I’ll like what I got though.

Congratulations ! Badged mine SnoHorse.

I picked up a 23 or 24 for Mini GutZ, but I did sneak a few rides on it last season and it makes you want to ride more ..... Anywhere....

Drifts bumps jumps .... it did not get stuck, it never bottomed out.

Totally different than the Gade, Funner' in some ways.

The steering is an on\off thing, so playing with the limiter strap and spring settings will be needed. Download and review the spring chart and all the settings.

Replace the seat! it sucks! The one from the Gade was a good choice.

Anything else just ask.

Later

GutZ

I have 4,000 miles on mine. The rear skid is the best I have ever ridden, and I have tried them all. Suspension requires more fine tuning than a renegade to get the sled to handle somewhat flat. Fun factor is high and you can pretty much lift the skis at will. I would recommend a set of scratchers. Fuel economy isn’t as good as a Doo 900R if that is important to you.

After 4k miles, the 1.6 Ice Cobra was starting to fall apart. I am in the process of installing an Ice Arrowhead with Dupont slides and fresh shocks. Looking forward to riding again soon.

Thanks Noreaster, goo info. Range is important to me, however with the 146 it will be understandably lower. I usually with my style can get 140 miles per tank on my Rsnegade, would you loose 20mi per tank on the Xterrain?

Fuel economy is greatly affected my your thumb on this sled. I have ran out of fuel in less than 110 miles running it hard in sport mode, and I have made it 140 miles before in standard/Eco when I knew I needed to be conservative.

Stopped by the dealer this week and he said he would have one available for me to try this winter with the 900r. Looking forward to that. I also asked him in general about a power steering sled and he says BRP have them ready but won't release until 2027. He says its the market that is holding them back. Likely meaning they want to clear out all the inventories before they offer it. Hope he's wrong and they have a spring order offer.

That sounds reasonable.

That would be awesome. Power steering is something that should have been added years ago. I’d bet you see power steerIng on an x or xrs though vs a lynx. Kinda like smart shocks. Different demographic the sled is being built for.

I agree on that for sled selections. I do see the after market will have a kit out for the 4 stroke this season. Put one on my cat before Cat offered and was great though its an always on. I have the Cat with the factory EPS and its a different as its gradual and then off. Its the main reason I ride the Cat now otherwise I would have gone over to the dark side earlier.

I need to upgrade next year. We are 100% on trail. No power steering would be a deal breaker for us.

You really can’t just test drive a EPS sled to get the improvement in enjoyment/fatigue. You need a 3 day run minimum.

It’s beyond time it was offered. Hopefully it comes quicker than LED lights did.

Meantime glad to hear there is a aftermarket EPS option coming for these at some point as someone that likes the bigger 4 stroke turbo/ lots of storage/ trail touring type ride. Lisa and I have 2 EPS sleds…one factory/one aftermarket. There is no downside IMO.👍

Talk to a Polaris dealer about Dynamix suspension .....
