The Polaris

(Since the QR update, I still can't respond to threads< but I can start a new thread and can still do messages; need to get a ten year old to fix my computer or get a new one!). Loved the dependable ACES but tired of the Adrenaline Renegades coming with far from ideal suspension calibrations and not being able to get them in an X model, and tired of the push in corers. Also that 2nd childhood feeling of needing a Farrarri to bump up my enthusiasm. "24 MXZ 129 600R was horrible. '25 MXZ "X" 129 was awesome with the new skis and the new front end and was much faster than the '24 and far better gas mileage. Loved this sled!!! I Had rented a couple Polaris Matrix's and loved the handling and seating position. I had to get one just to satisfy my curiosity and my new found love of a performance sled. I Bought a left over Polaris SP 650 model unbelievably cheap. It has the small gauge and rebuildable shocks but no clickers. Also saved some money as it came with a tall windshield and heated shield plug in standard. So far I am really enjoying this sled a lot. Gas mileage is good at moderate speeds but a bit hard when running hard such as Moose Valley or a long RR bed stretch. The engine runs really nice and the power of the 650 is very, very impressive. The suspension rides nice on small bumps and those medium bumps that are spaced apart. Anything else not so good. Handling is really nice and its a very fun sled to ride.. Its a warm sled to ride on cold days. Love the seating position although the seat is just a tad stiff and not an issue until about the 200 mile mark and then the hard seat is an issue causing pain. Bumpy trails might bring on the pain sooner. 750 miles so far and I'm a happy camper. Toss up next year whether I'll stay with Polaris or go back to the Doo 600R X. Mike

Glad to see you on the board posting again Mike. Congratulations on your new ride. We will look forward to your ride and trail reports.

As for your computer problem, take some of your American money and go to Best Buy in RDL or something like that and pick up an inexpensive tablet with a wireless keyboard to document your adventures. With the exchange rate where it is now you should be able to get a deal.

Geez....was worried sick about you Mike, all we were getting was crickets! Good to hear from you, and glad the Poo is treating you well. Take Steven's advice and good spend some money on some new electronics!

The handling of the front end seems flatter, the rear end is definitely hampered by that piece of wood they call a seat…but the sound of the starter is what kills me. Just kidding. Glad to hear the mayor has reached his office in RDL. I still remember meeting you back in the day at the HI when you were cruising with Bill. I love reading the trail reports. Please keep them coming.

Nice to see you back on the site & good luck with the new sled!

We picked up a leftover 2025 850 VR1 to replace my wife’s 900T Adrenaline. She absolutely loves the sled. I have only ridden it once, but there was a lot to like. The Polaris is very easy to ride fast.

I've owned a lot of sleds over the years...but some how never a Polaris...but I have some seat time on the very same 650 Mike bought....like he said...the engine is very very impressive ...you would never now it;s only a 650....but it's the handling and trail manners that sets this sled apart from everything else ...in my opinion it's the best handling ....easiest sled to ride ...straight from the factory ...that I have ever ridden...Polaris really dialed this chassis and suspension in...it's truly exceptional...enjoy the ride Mike !!

Clear browser cache, update browser or try a different browser. Or go buy a cheap SSD tablet or laptop with latest Mac or Windows (or mobile OS).

The handling polaris gets out of there sleds is unbelievable. Your enjoying a ride on there lowest quality suspension they have that's a great testimony to the sled. I believe more people need to look at Polaris and not just think ski Doo.

They are all good...Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...all that matters is your proximity to the dealer when you need one.

Amazing photo !

In 2030 everyone of us in that picture will have ridden in 8 different decades...it's amazing just thinking about it...and that feeling is still there all these years later...what a great sport.

8 decades!?!? How old are you 100? LOL

The amazing thing is every year or two in the last 8 decades the sleds kept getting a little better. Snowmobiling is a much easier and cleaner sport then it used to be. I remember leaving with 3-4 sets of spark plugs for a Saturday ride....and certianly not putting on big mileage.

starting riding in 1966 at 9 years old..69 years old...will easily make it to 2030...4 more winters ...I think lot's of guys are in this category...you must be close...

Yup I can still hear the tools bouncing around and the gas blowing all over the jacket...and boggie wheels flipping upside down...and the spine tinglers from every jump landing with zero suspension and those steel skis...nothing quite like putting the gas tank up front...and the two stroke oil was like molasses...hand warmers...reverse and electric start...gotta love it

Started at 7 y/o in 1969. Not far behind.

Don't forget the one piece snowmobile suits with the burn hole in the front from the carburetor backfiring! LOL

That impressive...great accomplishment...I hope we all get there...and not on electric sleds !!!
