RED MARKERS (Delineators)
THE SNOWMOBILER'S BEST FRIEND!
Snowmobile clubs use red markers to delineate the lateral boundaries of their trails. These delineators are installed on each side of the trail at a distance of no more than 90 meters from each other in an unwooded area.
This marks the EXACT LOCATION AND THE PATH TO FOLLOW where the owner has granted us right of way.
IN ADDITION:
The color of the markers allows us to distinguish our dedicated trails from ATV trails, which have blue markers.
The markers help us find our way in snowy conditions.
The reflective tops of the markers also help us find our way at night (white on the right and yellow on the left).
Markers are also installed at specific locations where we need to avoid or go around a hazard that may not be visible (rocks, stumps, ditches, etc.).
Patrol officers can also install additional markers at any time in areas where a new hazard has appeared (e.g., sudden thaw, etc.).
Markers are a snowmobiler's best friend, because following them and staying within their protection keeps us safe from traps that can be deadly.
Markers are also our best friends because respecting them and staying inside them at all times allows us to preserve our rights of way and enjoy them for a long time to come.
