Lots of Red Trails

I see a lot of trails being turned Red (closed) on iMotoneige. Hopefully this is to keep riders off during soft conditions and not due to loss of snow levels.

We had a spectacular 225 mile loop yesterday. Left the Gouin yesterday morning and dropped down to the 83 into Parent. So no one and trails were superb. Off to Clova where we had about a dozen sleds p

I was on a 11 day grand tour of Quebec and just had to get to my truck in Maniwaki from St Zenon area on Saturday. I never drove through so much rain and sand cover bare roads in my life as I did that day.

319 KM and I NEVER passed one moving sled

The nails in the coffin after today for most areas. Unreal that after a winter like this year most of Quebec shut down by first week in March.

Foiled my plans for sure.

Mother Nature always wins.

Looks like good snow in the forecast, did the base survive?

The 2 week forecast looks promising.

I am going to go on a limb and say most of the lower red is done for the season. Fields flooded, snow bridges dropped. Clubs picking up the stakes. We are after all mid MARCH. Green good to go for a bit more. Upper red may turn green for another week or 2.

I would go out on that limb as well. Spot on.

Going to be the usual spots for late march rides

4 days since the last post here. Anyone been riding in the Sainte Michel des saints, La Tuque, Alma or Roberval areas? How are they fairing right now? Making plans for next weekend. I know another day or 8 and rain coming. But more snow as well.

Go to the Valins. Cote Nord north shore or Gaspe. The last three areas with snow every year.

the Abitibi still has as good a "snow pack" as the Gaspe and Cote Nord, Lac St jean or anywhere else. Maybe more.

Plus the snow forecast is calling for 1-2 ft additional by this tuesday morning in that area and east.

Next thursday-friday (give them time to clean it up) (19th-20th) launch time there and weather for next 4-5 days after that looks PERFECT !!!!

you want to be in the "Abitibi" anytime between March 19th-25th timeframe is my guess for best no bullshit riding

have done the area many times in later March and it never disappoints

just saying.......

I can confirm the “honeymoon” phase of the season is currently in full swing in the region.

Some great advice here. The 15 mm of rain forecast on Monday for Val d’Or is the concern. Looks like the majority of Quebec will get it (if the forecast is right) which had me wondering which areas can survive it and which can’t. Northern Ontario is supposed to get 2’ of snow with no rain. Was thinking of leaving Saint Anne du Lac and looping around Lac St Jean and returning. The 373 with all the bridges has been on the bucket list to ride for a while. But Abitibi or Northern Ontario might be better options if La Tuque and Roberval are out of snow. Just means more driving in the truck vs on the sled.

I just got off the phone with mon ami Andre at the Gouin. I'm heading up to his place this Friday for 3 days of late season riding.

He reports that Aliance du Nord is going to groom one last time after the rain. We will be doing day trips from his house. One day to Clova for lunch and back, one day down to Repos and back and the other up to Camp Cooper area and back through the back bush.

Will report while there.

Great to hear, enjoy!

Have a great ride Chris...unfortunately I'm done for the season...trying to get caught up at work ...going to Utah on the 13th to ride the Bryce and Moab canyons

Hello, new member here. On a whim we thought we (4 of us) would go for a spring ride on the Gaspe, leaving from Riviere Du Loup and looping down through the Chic-Cocs. This is a ride we have done a few times.

I am wondering about the current conditions and the ability to get into towns, especially on the south side of the peninsula.

Thanks for any feedback.

In New Richmond right now, came from Amqui , parking lots and gas stations are bare here. We are going up the Chic Chocs to Murdochville tomorrow morning trying to beat the rain coming tomorrow afternoon, not sure what damage the rain will do and if the grooming will continue after the rain. Wheel kits are a good thing to have this time of the year. When are you planning to leave from RDL?

Tuesday morning.

Looks like the rain is hitting RDL early Monday into early Tuesday and its heading east ,you may be ok, I will let you know how it is here out east (Murdochville Monday and north shore Tuesday)

Nice. We where in that area 2 weeks ago. I am curious how the trails are close to Sept iles. The map is showing a closure on rte. 3 crossing the river Pentecote, it gave me pause about attempting that route at the time.
