How many days do you have available for your trip?

Attached is the route we did last year. Came up with this route after getting input from many of the veterans on this site. Took us 4.5 days starting from Mont Joli. If doing same route starting from RDL would need a full 6 days.

You will miss seeing Perce Rock and the Matapedia Valley by taking the route suggested to you.

Have extremely short days of daylight early Feb. 200 mile days were full days. Between twisty trails and lots of site seeing opportunities you won't average as many miles a day as most other areas of Quebec.

If you have never done the Gaspe I would say the must do are the North Shore, Perce Rock, Chic Choc trail between Murdochville and LaCache. South shore is flat and not as much to see.

Fuse this looks like the exact trip my riding buddies and i planned last night. We are driving to Mont Jolie, and riding for 5 days can i ask where you stayed each night? and how the accommodations were? and perhaps where you had lunch and the lengths of the days on trail, ie which days were longer and which days were shorter? There is 4 of us going for the first time. We've done several trips in Quebec just never this far east and try to average 300 k / day +/-   And other info you could provide would be great, and yes am aware that we may have to re-act to conditions and weather and tweak our plans but again it looks like you had done exactly what we were planning.

    Thanks again,
    Sean

  2. Never being in the area we are staying in Roberval Wednesday night and want to do a sight seeing loop on Thursday before heading up to Chibougamau on Friday. we'd like to see some of the sites and get over to the two closer look outs Pic du Dos de Cheval, ans Pic du mount Victor Tremblay, then back to either Roberval or Saint Felicien for the night.

just wondering if there are any trails on Lac Saint jean that would allow us to make up some time and cut across from the Alma area to either Roberval or Saint Felicien.

Also knowing that we are staying on the west side of the lake and want to do some sight seeing on the east side, then get back to either Roberval or Saint Felicien is there another 300 / 350 klm day trip you'd recomend.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions

Thanks for all the info, still looking to firm something up but perhaps I should have clarified a couple of details. First in terms of riding with the wife, there is no problem she can ride/ outride a lot of male riders (bonus for me as we get to do trips together) but I would like a clean spot for the evenings with as many amenities as possible resturaunt on site for sure. We are trailering from the Muskoka area on the hwy 11 corridor about 1:45 hr south of North Bay, but could take 401 south east and work our way north. We have dedicated a day each way for driving but hope not to exceed 12hrs in trucks.

Regarding Abitibi area, we enjoyed our time in the Northern part last year, affraid the southern sections may be busier than we would like and basically just looking for something new. We are planning on being on trail the Tuesday after the free weekend so hoping the trails will be cleaned up and will have survived.

Trailblazer, I was looking at that possiblity (road run) to shorten up trip a bit before you guys said that there is a gas issue in Whemontachi (which I assume means no gas) whats the likelyhood of being able to run the roads in that area, and forgive me but I cant find Barrage Gouin on the Lanaudiere/ Maucie map I will check online but is there another map I need?

    Thanks again all

  4. Background

We travel in a group of four experienced riders and this will be our group of 4's 2nd trip to Quebec. Last year on the free weekend we did 4 days, Kirkland Lake to Amos, then Amos to Matagami, then Matigami to la Sarre, then La Sarre back to KL.

We don't mind a full day on trail but would like to be off before 6, so 300 - 375K / day seems to be comfortable.

This year we will trailer on the 10th to a place to spend the night from and leave our trailers, from then we have 5 days on snow, and day 7 we trailer home.

I have a bit of a plan BUT it might be too ambitious, and considering my wife is one of the 4 we like a little nicer places in the evening Restaurant/ Bar/ & hopefully a hot tub. And some of the places I've looked into are a little less attractive????

Anyway we thought about driving to and staging from Sennettere. (Day 1) Sennettere to Parent, (Day 2) Then Parent to Chambord, (Day 3) Then a days ride around the NE side of Lac St Jean checking out a couple of the look outs??? Then back to Sainte Felcien area north of Roberval for the night, (Day 4) then up to Chibougaumu, (Day 5) Then Back to Sennettere

For a number of reasons, economics being primary this may be the most substantial trip for us to enjoy quebec trails for a few years, so I want to ensure that we get the most out of it. 2 600 etecs 2 1200's We enjoy varried terrain including the quick ones, but well groomed obviously is the most important caracheristic, as well as non high traffic areas, lunch and gas spots important too... lol

So again I appreciate any and all suggestions if you could saddle bag for 5 days in Quebec Feb 11 - Feb 15th what would you do????

    Thanks

    Sean
