  1. The place is terrific and has been for years. we stop there each chance we have and are in the area sledding. FYI you can get there easily without going over the lake by taking regional trail 544 at north end of lake around to a local trail then back on to 35 and when approaching the lake take the road to the left a few hundred yards to Auberge. you can also follow signs off 544 to Pohénégamook Santé Plein Air going down the lake shore road if snow covered. that is fastest non-lake access. DO NOT go for gas at the gas station across the street that you can see from the parking lot as that is in Maine and you will be made to turn around or go out of your way down the road to a US border control station and THEN have to re-check in with Canada border control as well. see https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/41/Gaz_bar_maine.jpg. There is an easy gas stop right off the lake (west side) if lake is frozen.

Interesting point to view however is to go across the road and take a left down the side street. There is an interesting international boundary marker and historical information board. going down that street keeps you in Canada and no one has ever bothered us in fact the Canadian border agent told us to go there when we foolishly went for gas at the Gulf station a few feet away (in Maine it turns out) and had to "visit" with him to check in to Canada again but they all laugh about it.
