  1. Hi Dave and Dana, had a great time riding with you guys. You can twist my arm anytime and ill ride with you. We will have to meet up and ride again. Did you notice that i drove all the way home without my "anti-theft device" on? I kept moving plus it was dark. Ha Ha ! See you soon

  2. Hi all

The Saguenay Snowmobile Club has a new website. Check it out at http://www.motoneigesaguenay.com/node/46

    Bill

Hi Bill I checked out the web site it looks good, it was great to see you at the show in augusta. I have not even been on my sled yet !! I had rotator cuff surgery and i'm on the mend, hope to still get up to your neck of the woods by mid Feb. Doctors said not for 6 months...but what do "they" know. Dont even ask why I had surgery during snowmobile season, but initially in November, they were going to remove a spur and it was supposed to be a 6 week recovery... Then they found a tear, not good. Glad to see you new sled is going good, I'll be talking to you soon, Darryl

  3. We just had a great late season trip. We left from home in Riverview NB on Sunday morning and rode to Coal Branch for fuel. South of the Bouctouche River the trails are very poor. Basically no grooming and very hard trails. We then went to Salmon River Outfitters for fuel and asked for directions to go cross country to the Miramichi River area near Boiestown. The owner Hal was very reluctant to give us any info as he was very concerned we would get lost and blame him! Hal it worked out fine and we will be back to see you again. After fueling in Doaktown we headed to Serpentine to see our old friend Alyre. On the way to Serpentine we stopped at a warming shelter and 2 sleds rolled in, on one sled was this pretty lady and the other her husband. I thought to myself could this be the infamous Fresh Powder from HCS? Well after a few minutes I said you must be Fresh Powder and with that a big smile came on her face and said yes who are you ? We had a big laugh and a great conversation . Now on to Serpentine ,Alyre works very hard to maintain his outfitter business and we as sledders need to stop by and support him so he will be there in the future for us. While at Alyres we ran into Tim Pond from the Grand Lake area. Tim had a group of friends with him and they were on a tour of the northern part of NB.

    Pic of Fresh Powder!

    MUBS and Alyre.

    Alyre and his buddy.

Mubs and I had a great evening at Alyres and after a hearty breakfast we headed out. First stop Kedgwick for fuel the Moose Valley. We took the new trail from MV to Biencourt QC. Absolutely AWESOME!!!! Table top and great scenery.

We picked up RT 548 at Biencourt and rode east to the TQ5 and the RT579 to RT587 to Amqui. A super day of riding and table top trails.

We headed south on TQ5 the next am and as we passed Albertville we were riding on some of the smoothest trails you can imagine. I knew from the grooming that we were going to see our buddy Groomer and we caught him just like we expected to. Mubs was ahead and it was a couple of minutes before I got there as I had to stop to take a pic of my odo as I just turned 20000km on my sled in the second season. It has been a great 2 seasons.

On to Point a la Croix for breakfast and then across the bay and back into NB. Table top to Balmoral then garbage to Island Lake. South of Island Lake back to table top. Stopped at Nepisiquit for a burger and the on to Miramichi for the night. Thanks for the great trails Don Kenny and the Nepisiquit Sports Lodge!!!

Pic of snow levels in northern NB.

Left Miramichi this am at 6:30 and home by noon. 1532 km and 1532 laughs thanks for the great trip Mubs and don't worry we won't miss supper next time!!!!

Pic of trail warden this am!!!

Sounds like a fun time. I have been hearing of alot of critters in the trail due to the deep snow. We had a deer jump out of the alders on a narrow trail, last week, at about 70. That will get your attention in a hurry. Take care, Darryl

  4. awesome storm here !!! :shok::yahoo: since yesterday ,for sure 14-15'' of fresh snow !!! still snowing and windy !!

if weather permit might begin to groom tq 5 a bit tonight and do the rest tomorrow morning .

    groomer !!!

Hey Groomer, the snow is still piling up I see. You guys must be having a hard time keeping up with it. If I make it back up your way I going to buy you a beer! See you soon (hopefully)

  5. That first few miles going west from Godbout is incredible............I'd love to have that trail to myself on a snocrosser with all those hills and dips............took me a while to get the kinks out on the Apex but what a beautiful area. Have you tried that new trail from LesEscoumins to Chappelle? It's not on all the maps but may be the nicest trail in Quebec...........123KM of beauty. Saw one sled all the way. Remember this place?

Thats the last picture my camera took...............shortly before getting run over and destroyed by a strategically placed stud...............

S pump was not aware of another trail, we took 3 to 93. Allthough we did take the short cut bypassing Les Escoumins. If we stayed on that trail would that bring us to the Chappelle? Cameras take a beating, I dug mine out of the snow at least 3 times that week.

  6. Great report, we did almost the exact trip 3 weeks ago except we went from the ferry to the HI the same day coming down south to Chapel relay from the north on some top secret outfitter trails................what a ride tho, huh?

That was some of the best riding ever... You know, when your riding along, the suns out, weathers right, trails perfect, and you have that feeling of.... "This is awesome, I can almost justify all of the money I've spent" I had that feeling everyday that week. Makes it all worth while.

  7. Hi Darryl

Great meeting you and Brandon. So glad you came by and introduced yourselfs. Be sure to come back next year.

    Bill

It was great to finally meet "the legend" and yes I will return to that area. I'm not done yet this year. I think I can find an extended weekend to get back up there. I am hooked!!! Darryl

  8. (Sorry for the jumbled words and pictures,my first post) 1500 miles of great riding on awesome trails. Our trip was based on a simular trip that Andyman and Smclelan did previously. Thank you for the info you posted, it was a big help. My first trip across the St.Lawrence, and it was great, Brandon and I started out in Beauceville on March 9th. Left in a storm that dumped 16 inches of fresh powder. We rode 35 up to Riviere du loup. Had to break trail the first 110 miles. Burning lots gas and getting stuck. Met 2 sleds all day and finally 1 groomer! 213 miles for the day and Universal never looked so good. Monday we headed to Matane, arrived at 1:30. Took ferry to Baie Comeau. Hit TQ3 at 5:00 pm headed towards Forestville. Most of 3 was great. Found a 25 mile section through Ragueneau that was not groomed at all. Arrived at the Econo Lodge by 8:30 pm 280 miles for the day. Tuesday left Forestville headed to Jonquiere. TQ 93 was by far the best trail I have ever been on!!! We ran into 4 guys from Vermont, they new Saguenay Bill and we talked for a while. We headed up towards the Chapel for gas and lunch, then headed for HI in Jonquiere. 228 miles. We met Saguenay Bill, his wife and Gretta. He gave us some great tips on where to ride. Also thanks to Mikerider for the info you gave me. Thanks Bill, we are very fotunate to have you in our sport. Wednesday we rode to Relais Onathiway for coffee then on to Scoobyraid for lunch. We ended up heading around Lake St.Jean to St Felician, Hotel Du Jardin. The trails were incredible. 250 miles for the day. Ran into the Vermont 4 again. Came across a groomer with some bad luck, we helped him unhook his drag and assisted him until help arrived. Thursday morning left the hotel in St Felician check eng light can on on my XP600 Renegade, could not go over 45. We found a dealer in town, Maximum Sports Bombardier. He got me in and replaced an injector and some chaffed wires, all under warranty. Thanks for the great service. Got us back on the trail by 2:00pm and we headed towards Relais 22 of TQ83. The owner of Relais 22 gave us a couple tips to save time around LaTauque. We took TQ73 south it was the second best trail I have ever been on. 100 miles on TQ73 met 0 sleds. Arrived in La Taque at 7:30pm 210 miles. Saw the Vermont 4 again, they probably thought we were following them. Headed towards Shawinigan for lunch. Then on to Quebec Inn for the night 240 miles. Trails mostly good. Not marked as well as most areas. The next day on Saturday we had the Colibri shuttle pick us up and bring us to Bernieres, right at the TQ75 south trail $26.00 per sled. Good deal. We headed to Beauceville to the truck. 70 miles. 1500 miles Spent $1500.00 Great Trip!

  9. Darryl,

Riding is fantastic. You should make the Holiday Inn in one day from Armstrong, long as you get an early start.

At the very least, I would make reservations when you get to Armstrong. Place is 155 rooms but is often full by late afternoon. Have a good ride.

Also, if you are just passing through, would recommend continuing north to Chibougamou. But this area will keep you happy for days.

    Mike

Hey Mike thanks for the info. We was thinking of going from Armstrong to Rivere de lou then on to Matane, next morning catch ferry to Godbout then head towards Jonquiere. Ride around there a couple days then head towards Shawinigan to Quebec. Catch shuttle then back towards Armstrong. Any suggestions? Chibougamou sounds good, we`ll check it out. Darryl

  10. Calling for snow Fri,Sat and Sun. See you Sat night.

Hello Bill, heading up your way this Sunday for the first time. We are riding out of Armstrong. Looks like the conditions are good. I live down the road from Mikerider, I`ve been trying to get in touch with him at home about the riding. Now I see why he has not been around town. I should be in your area Wed or Thur. Should I call the HI ahead of time? If you see Mikerider tell him hello!
