Nope. No problem with the canned gas @ Depanneur (convenience store) Desmaraisville, totally the opposite, they were friendly & helpful & spoke English, the brother is well prepared with a wide-mouth funnel and a wire attached to it that hooks onto your handlebar as a thrid hand so there's no spillage!
I had my Apex temp light come on a couple of times on those extended 80+ mph sections in the morning, which I thought was weird since it was wicked cold that morning, but I just backed off it for a bit each time and it went out. I need to try what I saw on another thread next time and roll her over and see if there's ice built up blocking the exchangers.
How much gas do they carry? Can they handle filling 6 sleds say 5 gallons in each sled? It would save a lot of time filling there rather than going all the way into Waswanipi.

Your best bet would be to go to Mont-Laurier area
I'm 20 minutes from the 1000 Islands. There is NO snow. I agree, your best bet is to go to Mont-Laurier. From the Thousand Island's Bridge - ~ 4 1/2 hours.

No, we had never been there before. Just used the map, compass on the sled, some common sense and a lot of luck!!

You just answered my question that I asked on Sled Dog's post. That was exactly how I remembered getting there a couple of years ago. We got there after dark, there were 6 of us and we always left 3 or more guys out with the sleds. We had no problems. Thanks for the confirmation. Rick

Nice report Sled Dog. A group of us will be traveling the same way in about 10 days. We already prepped ourselves for the trip in to Waswanipi since the station at Miquelon is closed. A couple of years ago we had to make our way to Waswanipi and we got lucky and hit it correctly the first time.
This is what we did. Let us know if this is correct to your recollection - Take the spur trail off 93 to Waswanipi to the end. Take a right on the road/driveway. Go to the end and take another right on that road/driveway. Take that to the end and you're at the main road, Rt 113. Turn right up the side of Rt 113 and go up the hill. The gas station/convenience store is on your right not far beyond the Police station.
Does that sound right to you?

hi i have a bv2s helment and like it i dont have an electric shield never nhad a problem in ny next week we are going to do the gaspe would i need an electric shield up there thanks any info would be great
I have been using a BV2S helmet in Quebec including the Gaspe for 5 years along with 5 other members of our group. Save your money. You won't have any fogging problems...none of us have.

Looking at the Abitibi map I'm assuming you will be on 93. There is gas in Senneterre and also in Barraute. There is no gas problem at all getting from Quevillon to Senneterre, it's roughly 65 miles.

Yeah last year we met some guys at Miquelan from Waswanipi, they told us of talk of improving the trail into Waswanipi and of a hotel? I been there and who knows what will go on. I sure hope someone keeps Miquelan open.
Hopefully Miquelon stays open. I stopped there in 2008 and then there are no fuel worries to Chapais. At that time there was a large sign that said gas on it. In 2009 I went right by it. There was no sign. I stopped at the turn off to Waswanipi. Having fuel enough to make it to Chapis was questionable so we went into town for fuel. As I remember it is about 20 Km into the village and the trail is not marked. We got out to the main rd. (113) and flagged down a car. The guy told us there was no gas in Waswanipi, and the station was closed down. Luckily we went in to see for ourselves. The guy was wrong, there was a new station/convenience store at the top of the hill. It was a bit of a pain to get there, but I don't think we would have made Chapis without multiple sleds running out of gas. If you knew from the time you left Quevillion that the next gas was Chapis, I suppose if you took it easier you could probably make it. I have it at about 145 miles between Quevillion and Chapais. Has anyone made the run from Chapis to Quevillion without getting gas in between? We have 3 GSX SE 1200's, 2 600 etecs, and a Renegade 800R Powertec in our group. I have no doubt taking it easier the etecs would make it, I'm not sure about the 1200's or the 800.

Hey guys - I just purchased 2012 Renegade X 4-tec. Very excited! I'm wondering which saddlebags work good for that sled? I already ordered the bag that goes on the back of the tunnel, maybe that will be enough for 5 day trip? I pick the sled up this Saturday so I'll know myself but wanted your opinions. Maybe some pics if someone has them?
Also what about the windshield? I've been in Quebec in -40f weather and know the stock windshield on this sled is not enough. Again, any pics would be great.

I use the combo bag Ski Doo P/N 280000300. It works great. On the 1200 with no oil to carry I have room to spare on 7 day rides. A couple of guys in my group that went to the 1200's, since they no longer have to carry oil have been having great success with just the expandable tunnel bag. Ski Doo P/N 860200427 (Black & Yellow) or 860200434 (Black & White)

Sounds like your place is nice, but that is in the wrong direction. I want to head east the next day and go to Roberval. Maybe I get to the Tamarack next year.
Has anyone stayed at lac 10 miles or Cheval?
I'm not sure where you are coming from going into Parent. It sounds like from the South (Mont Laurier)? If so TQ 13 is re-routed this year which adds about 60 miles onto the ride ~ 230 from Mt. Laurier. Fer-a-Cheval is closed due to it being under new ownership. It's supposed to be open next winter. It is/was a nice place. If you want to avoid staying at the Central or the 4 Saisons there are some cottages that are available just outside of the village called Domaine l'ombre du vent (or Chalet a Louer - seen it both ways).They are nearly new and very nice. As you are coming into Parent on 83 East there is a spur trail that will take you right to their office door. They are owned by a very nice couple. Don't worry about food and drink. They have a mini van that comes with the room to drive into town. Not bad for $40/person. The food and drink at the Central is just fine. There is a new restaurant that just opened at the 4 Saisons that is supposed to be pretty good too, although there is no alcohol yet. If you want to stop 65 miles short of Parent; TQ 13 North will take you right through 100 Lacs. This is a nice place to stay as well. Either of these places I would take my wife to. In Roberval, I'm with everyone else; you can't go wrong with Chateau Roberval.
