  1. stayed at HI last week-end New Year's Eve, still says HI on everything, business seemed as usual just signs in lobby saying daytime renovations occurring. Restaurant was open for breakfast, but dinner was limited menu in bar. Barmaid very pleasant and accomodating lady-good chicken wings. trail was groomed to door and locked parking for trucks and sleds still normal.

  2. gottas trailer to the mountain to see that. not like that out of town. rode from HI, not signed much or staked, one groomer bearking trail thru the sticks/rocks. atv trails better than sled trails. snowing now heading out the door. try yellow trails to skoobyraid today. valinuet yesterday. lower 93 very good uup by relais heavy trafiic. still very cold -20 c now. off we go!!

  3. purchased the trakmap sd card, have not used it yet, but it has much grreater quebec detail than sled gps sd card for the ne/quebec. going up thurs to ride mt valin area, will have more experience then. easy to use sd cards in nuvi, pop out battery plug in sd card, go into tools menu then check data base. nuvi 550 works well on sled and in the cold, ram mount and hard wired.

  4. I have the sledgps sd card for NE US and Quebec snowmobile trails from mountain dynamics. Detail is okay for US but limited for Quebec. Wondering if Trak map for snowmobile trails would be better. We don't ride off-trail, so not sure if the Trak topo map would be what we want for riding fcmg trails, ? Thoughts? Sounds like 93vwgti has experience with trak topo. The Garmin nuvi 550 gps mounted with a handlebar ram mount and hard wired seems to work well, just need better data base.

  5. In Vermont and Maine a landowner, private or public, is not liable for the use of their land by snowmobiles or atv's as long as they do not charge for the use of the land. If a fee is charged, then liability is assumed by the landowner. It would seem that this aspect of law would discourage landowners from wanting to collect a fee for trail use. Clubs assume this liability not the landowners.

iceman info 100 percent correct, it was thin by valin ski area and whooped, which was fun for the 10 miles or so. 93 down to 70 km from sacre coure was pretty darn good considering. from there down they were driving up in pu trucks on road/trail. up to pelchat trail was very good, and like dr coffin said a little thin and got very good again back to chaplle. Dana and I met a new friend, DR and was another bonus to the trip. enjoyed riding together. new skidoo 1200x was excellent in all regards, suspension felt almost plush in the bumps and no spine tinglers in deeper holes, steady and steerable. groomed trails will be very good we're certain, but pretty darn good in what we rode. there was snow drivng by letape, but bare ground everywhere, including about 10 kn up road to relais 31, where we parked, pretty icy up that end, but had snow. very pleased to be riding and glad we went up.
