hi speedy !!
just checked to have the ''translation '' in clesius .around - 10 c perfect.not too cold and not too warm.when it s too cold ,it hard to cut the bump,specially at this time of the season.the drag just ''float '' over the bumps .to fix that i go backward,tracks break the snow and it gives me soft snow to work with.
im going to take a break tomorrow .we should have one or 2 ''.

went grooming tq5 and a local trail!! what a day.very discouraged to see how tq 5 was in bad shape.woke up at 2 am,-15c .started at 4 am and arrived at the cb around noon i guess,arrived at 7 30 pm.
did nt not take much grooming pics .after i took the the ones with the moon ,my boots were full of snow.so removed my boots til the cb.was too busy grooming.
very happy,no traffic on tq 5.saw only 9 sleds.i don t know how much it was ,but snow was sticky a bit on the way back,but did not ''attack '' the base.still hard packed.glad there was no traffic.
speedy ,hope you ll hit perfect trails .days are longer ,don t need be in a rush and you ll have plenty of time to take pics !!

TQ5 was in bad shape-prior to your grooming today? I hope we have great trail conditions this Friday and Saturday while we're in your area.
I will be dreaming of flat-wide open perfect trails

back from the clubhouse.great weather again !! tq 5 is in great shape around albertville.i ll groom my part of tq 5 later tonight.
pic 1 and 2 :on the bridge over the matapedia river.(shortcut).groomer operator put snow on the side of the road.won t be too bad !!
pic 3 :at the ''stop'' sign coming from albertville,using the shortcut.just beside the bridge.
speedy : i ll wait for the phone call of the waitress next friday.i ll see what will happen with the traffic on my part of tq 5 ,instead of grooming next friday ,ill do it on thursday.just to be sure not to miss you at the clubhouse and keep one or 2 local trails for early friday morning.
about the trail conditions , i can t tell ,don t know their grooming schedule,but i ll check something and let you know later next week.hope not to forget !!

Can't wait to ride in your area! We will be arriving in Amqui this friday(march 25th) we will be lodging at the the Ambassadeur for two nights.
This is a three generation ride-my son, my dad, and me :)
We will stop at your clubhouse-for trail passes-prior to going onto Amqui-should be around 2pm friday.
On friday we were thinking of riding tq5 from Amqui to Matane and back to Amqui. On Saturday ride from Amqui to Cap Chat and over to the chic chocs. What are your thoughts on these trail conditions?

back from grooming tq 5 !!-20 c at 2 30 am and +7c at 2 30 pm when i crossed main street in town at the city hall.
woow !!! trail was really hard packed !!!not too rough tho after 8 days without grooming .only a few bad corners .all the straights were still ''flat ''.
looks like tourists season is almost over.saw the first ones on the way back around 1 pm ,on that long straight just a few miles west of ste marguerite.saw 7/8/9 sleds today.all in the afternoon.

looks like hard packed trails are rough on the machine .drag is cracked in a front corner ,need to weld it and one rim(rear) is also cracked.we have one spare.
6/7 years ago ,i cracked one rim( completly ) ,near the last cb in town going east.i was entering a street to go on main street to cross causapscal river.it was a cold morning like that and hard packed trail.
the secretary of the club sent me an email.they are thinking to close the clubhouse on monday/tuesday/wednesday starting march 21 .she ll send me an e mail if they decide to close.there s still the canteen at the gas station !!

Please excuse my ignorance as this is our 1st sled trip to the gaspe-are there trail areas where we would need to cross water-if so are the conditions safe or are there bridges to cross by?

i start grooming tq 5 in causapscal to ste marguerite to that red dot.cb is there.assemetquagan river.roughly 25-27 miles to go there.
then ,yellow trails .groom them ,once a week.
there s one going for ste florence ,west of ste marguerite.i groom that one when i do tq5,can be up to 14 hrs to do both.
then,the one going up to the lake ,north-east of town
st alexandre-lac saumon ,north-west of town.
there s another one ,can t see on the map,about 2 miles north of ste marguerite.connecting with the one going to the lake.about 1.5 miles east where you can see there s implements on the map.
st alexandre is the most important ''local trail ''.grooming st alexandre -lac saumon-the lake-and the one going for ste marguerite, about 11-12 hrs+ depending of the situation.
0 c here ,few flakes time to time !!grey sky !!

another long day.-28 c at 5 30 am and -11c during the day.great day for riding.went to meet the operator from albertville at the intersection of tq5 and the shorcut around 7 30 am.
went grooming st alexandre -lac saumon and lake 8 miles.lots of snow .
pic 8 ,on the to lac saumon,very bad place.going up hill and always snow blown by the wind.turned around there last week,too much snow for the surtrac.
pic 7:on the way back from lac saumon ,i got stuck again
in about 5-6' of snow .about 400' in front of the machine .i think i going to retire from grooming at the end of the season .not good for my average !!! 
back on a local trail tomorrow ,was too low on fuel to do it tonight.back on tq 5 thursday or friday.

Looks like you had little to no rain from the last storm-that's great news!
By looking at the 14 day weather forecast-looks to be just above freezing during the day and below freezing at night-looks like there will be some light snow as well
We will be there on the afternoon of 3/24 for a few days of riding-I was looking at the trail map and for our day trips I was thinking of staying in Causapscal-riding tq5 to Carleton and tq5 to Amqui, Saybec, Matane.
Would these be good riding-scenic routes?

From all of the forum's I have read-it looks like you're the person to talk to for a sled trip to the Gaspe.
We're coming to the Gaspe on 3/25 for a few days of riding, this is our first trip to the Gaspe, we have rode alot of the Quebec trails and have always wanted to ride in the Gaspe.Will also need to purchase trail passes.
Wondering if the trails will still be groomed for this time frame, should we head to the North Shore or South Shore? We're looking to ride the best trails with alot of good scenery-as we like to take pics. What can we expect for weather 3/25-3/27?
We would look to ride 150 miles per day, what loops would be best? Also, looking to lodge in one place as we would do day trips-are there any cabins to stay in?

What are your clubhouse hours of operation this Thursday and Friday?
As for Friday do you think the trail conditions will be great on tq5 from Amqui to Matane than onto Cap Chat? Then on Saturday riding on tq5 from Amqui to Carleton.
Looking forward to fantastic riding and taken some great photos!!
