  1. last time faribault has been open ,must be in 98.just too bad that place is closed .my brother in law with a friend leased it back in 97 .

I believe Groomer you're right about the time frame,it must have been in '97 or '98 when i was there,if i remember correctly the name of the guy running the place was Bertrand,he had his son with him at the time helping. He told us he was from Cap Chat and he did guiding for deer hunting on the Anticosti island, but what i remember the most about this guy was his terminology for snowmobiling,he used to say "Bring Bring anch une vitesse,on font on font". We had a gas with him.

i can remember the second time that i went thru there. i had a 2000 yamaha v-max deluxe( BRAND NEW). it was the first trip with it and we came in from ste anne des monts. we were running late. we decided to take the trail to causapscal and on to pte a la croix in order to make up time. i think that this was the last year that this trail was groomed. that was the last time that faribault was open. we had had cipail for lunch. you could not beat the home cooking there. i've missed this place being open ever since. if i remember right, after we left faribualt, we came out at a ski area just behind ste marguertes some where.i've always missed this trail being open, it was a good run!!!!

  2. This is a non-issue!! Just read the thread on HCS, the sled was not registered anywhere! In Quebec it is law you have to have your sled registered. The person that started this should have listened to the police offficer that was writng out the fine.

and, a quebec trail permit is not a registration, it only gives you permisiion to use the trails.

  3. I would like to add my 2 cents worth about Yamaha. If the guy that posted above expects to get 28,000 miles out of his new 09 Apex he had better bring his lunch! I also hope he didn't buy the worthless extended warranty. That is the biggest rip-off I have ever been involved in, having to fight with them to honor a claim. I waited 3 months to get paid 3/4 of the bill and had to call them 50 times. The deal with 2 different companies in NA is the stupidest thing I know of. The handling and hand warmers were a huge joke. the japs don't like to admit mistakes and to pass the issues on to the customer that has paid over $10,000 to have a piece of shit snowmobile that still didn't work right is un-acceptable in my book. The entire crew that sits in the warranty department could slide into the ocean out there in California and it wouldn't bother me a bit. I have their names if anyone is interested. I would like to see those fuckers pulling a sled out of the woods for fifty miles with no brakes. At issue of course is the drive axles, first one at 12,000 miles and the second one at 16,000 miles. Check the Yamaha part #, it is the same axle that goes in most Yamaha's and they have had an issue since the 03 1 ton. The second one broke in Feb and I still haven't been paid for the repair, 3 nights in a motel waiting for repairs etc. etc. Came to about $700 bucks total. I have called the dealer in Easton who told me how he wanted to handle the warranty IF I had another problem. Did exactly what he said, dragged the broken axle back and gave him all the receipts etc., have called him repeatedly and no response. What the fuck did I pay for an extended warranty for? I am going to file a claim in small claims court next.

I think there will be a lot of people trading back to what they rode before, I personally know of a half dozen guys that are as sick of the bull-shit Yamaha-ha-ha company as I am.

The exhaust issue (3 times), the drive axles, the hand-warmers, the thumb warmer, the suspension arms and mostly the attitude of the warranty department is down-right ridiculous. I must have heard 20 times that they couldn't understand how (I) broke the drive axle. This is after thousands of them broke before mine did. Fuck you Yamaha, I wouldn't own or recommend Yamaha to my worst enemy if I had one!!!!!

i,ve been on yamaha since 1996, ive never had a warranty problem. had a complete meltdown on my 03 viper 1 mth after warranty was over and the dealer called them and they approved the work. never cost me a cent. i'll never own anything else.i've never been to a yamaha dealer who hasn't bent over backwards to help with any issues.
  4. I put 14,000 on my 05 GSX 500SS before a ring broke and then it was a $2,700 bill. I had 2nd year warranty so it only cost me $50. If any of you are in the Saguenay area and have a problem, not covered by warranty, get ahold of Real Morin at Blue Morin Sports 547-6943, cell is 540-0358. Real will treat you right. He will pickup and deliver your sled within reason of Lac Kenogami. As Phil1 has stated, he is an honest guy who will be more than fair with you. Oh yes, he also does work in the evenings. Couple of years ago a guy was on Bras Louis when his track started to come apart. We nursed it back to the Lac Joly campground and I called Real. He told us when we got to the HI, call him. I did and he was in Chicoutimi getting a used track, which is what the guy wanted. He was at the HI in about 10 minutes. It was 5PM at that time. Sled was back next morning at 9AM. The owner didn't know it but he also had a clutch problem, which Real fixed. Total bill, track, labor, pickup and delivery was$350. Guy was so happy he gave him another $50. I have a lot of these stories about this guy. Know him 25 years.

is that the guy that's close to the ski bee doo relais?

  5. Last wednesday paypal was $1 U.S.=$0.946220 Canadian. I renewed my $10 ADMDQ suscription and it cost me $10.57!! Not much you can do about it though..

it wasn't too many years ago that i had to give up going to maine on snowmobile trips. at that time we were paying in excess of 1.50 for an american dollar. you talk about HURT.
