Trails were pretty good. We hit a couple of trails that were bumped up a little but even those weren't too bad. I normally don't come to this area because of the traffic but the trails were actually pretty tight.

Just got back from the vieux moulin. Great service, nice place, gourmet food, pool, hot tub. One of the nicer places in the area.

What's up with 33 south of repos not being groomed very often? Not the first time I've seen it like that. Must be a reason. We hammered through it Saturday. Thank goodness 345 was outstanding on the way back. Must have been at least a 100 sleds at repos. I liked it better when it was one building and a gas pump...

Selfishly I hope the numbers go down again. There too many people riding in Quebec now! Just kidding...
Years ago we rarely made reservations. We looked at a map and just "wong it". Now it seems you need to call ahead and plan out your trip, which I'd rather not do because it pins you down. I enjoy the freedom of going wherever the best trail takes me.
The biggest complaint I hear from folks that don't go is that its too expensive. Perfect...it keeps the rif raf out. :) Going to Quebec in the late 90's when the exchange rate was $1.40 to $1 and my income was a lot less than it is now, it was so affordable. $50 for a room with dinner and breakfast, how could you not go. Gas was $0.87 per liter (which was expensive in that day). I realize you need the numbers to support this massive system but do you really want to see an influx of 200,000 new snowmobilers into Quebec? I'd just assume pay $700 for a season pass if it keeps the trails and business open. I'm surprised the numbers are low because I see more sleds than ever in Quebec. Most places seem packed on the weekends.
A couple of places we stayed at this year said the tour groups from France are way down this year because of the ecomomy over there. I'm sure that has a big impact on the bigger resorts that cater to that business.

I just got a pair of the choko EXTREME CORDURA PANTS. Warmest bibs I've ever owned. Great quality and you can almost buy two pairs of these bibs for the price of one pair of klim. Canadians know how to stay warm.

Any idea how 368 is between 23 and 383? Also, how is 383 over to TQ83? I took it a couple of years ago and it was a nightmare (lots of rerouting and goat path sections), plus at the time the snow was minimal. I thought someone on here said that trail is better this year. I'm trying to decide if I should stay South on TQ3 and head up TQ83 or if I should go up through L' Etape. Appreciate any insight.

Yup we stayed here in Beaupre, QC and there is plenty to do for non-sledders. Its basically a ski resort but you are 35-40 minutes from Quebec City and the Ice Hotel. Groomed trail right to the place.

Benz500 - We just did a spur of the moment weekend trip around the same loop you just did, except we were at Manawan on Saturday (thank goodness they had gas). Trails around Meekos were great. Everything from Manawan toward St. Zenon area and South was total crap. We had the same signage issues you did (worst I've ever seen). Our day was 368 miles and 50% of it was whooped up. I normally never go to this region for a reason and I just reminded myself why... Oh well, still had fun. Got a great workout!

I was told you can't ride 3 Northeast out of Quebec City because the river is open. We trailered to St. Urbain and rode the Charlevoix region. Trails were solid and flat. Over-heating is your biggest issue. If you want more details shoot a PM and I'll give you my cell number. Sorry, don't feel like typing all the details.

I've got first hand knowledge that these trails are all pretty good. They are thin and a bit icey but flat and fast. Also 369 and 23 just south of Mt. Apica are good. You can launch from Beaupre if you know where to park close to trail 3.
Made it to Hebertville from Beaupre but rode dirt for 20-30 miles in the rain. Absolutely no snow in the southern Lac St. Jean area. Got trailered back (6 sleds) 30 miles to Mt. Apica for the tune of $900. Ugh!

Anyone know if 93 towards tadoussac has any snow left? We just met some french guys that got trucked down from mt valin area and said that there is no snow there either. I find that hard to believe though. We just need a few inches of snow and things would be passable. This blows!

We are the fools snowdogs is referring to. We ran out of snow in hebertville. Stuck here. Looking to trailer someplace. We are being told all of saquenay is closed. We rode dirt for 20 miles before we started to overheat. Trying to get to auberge ravage. Any idea if trail 3 down through cermont towards beaupre is passable? Need to make it back to truck.

We are riding from Beaupre to Carcajou Thursday. Hopefully the rain and warm temps don't mess up the trails too bad. We are going to wing it day 2 and go where the snow is best. Might have to head North into Mt. Valin. Sometimes the best days are unplanned...

Appreciate the reply Jack. I thought I heard there were some issues on 93 but I didn't know where. I've done this loop a couple of times and the South side of Lac St. Jean can be hit or miss with snow. I think I read something about the Chambord area being light on snow (or maybe it was logging) but I'm hoping it has improved since then. Thanks again! Maybe Bill can shed some light....

Making a 4 day trip starting next week. Anyone see any problems with the route below? Specifically getting to the Roberval area and the stretch of 93 to Tadoussac? I'd like to start thinking about a re-route if trail conditions look sketchy. I appreciate the help!

I've found that Firefox works better with viaexplor than Internet Explorer. Seems to run faster with less lockups.

Thanks everybody. Having ridden Quebec for 30 years these are two places I never happened upon. One of the reasons I love this site so much.....such GREAT HELP AND INFORMATION!
You must have been riding up there since you were 11 or so. Very lucky.

I spoke with Noel today. He said 83 from Saint-Félix Otis down to Clermont is open. Also the trail to Anse Saint Jean and Rivière Eternity is open. The trail down to Ravage is open but not sure if its been groomed or not. He also said stay in the mountains.
