  1. Where did you get this info?

I plan on going up tomorrow (Thurs) for a long weekend -- planning on staying at KM31.

    Anyone else be up there?

they were reporting 240km of groomed trail last weekend. That was overly optomistic with really about 150 groomed and not in traditional Quebec quality. They are blading some of the bumps and rolling hopefully with the snow this week they will start processing with the drag. On Monday we saw them breaking the trail towards Onatichiway and GTSE will be home tomorrow with I'm sure a list of what else he saw groomed. From Auberge 31 there was basically 2 loops to ride, 93 down to Valinoouet and up Bras Louis(267) and back over to 93 and then towards La Chapelle, take 93 to the warming hut at the intersection of the Sacre Coer trail and loop back around Lac Cassey to La Chapelle(252/253) again. Some offshoot trails that were good were 264, ungroomed the last few km's to 328 at the bottom but if that gets done you can loop back by the groomer hut and into Valinouet that way for another small loop. trail to Pelchat was ungroomed but broken and was on of the best trails we rode. Sacre Coer if it's been broken should be similar to Pelchat.

  2. Any benefit to staying at the HI vs. the Sagunene over in Chicoutimi?

Do you trailer up to the ski area and start from there?

How long does it take to trailer up to start?

not sure about security at the Sagunene, HI has a pen for trailers thats pretty secure, I've only stayed at the HI in town. About 50-60 minutes to get to the lot at the ski hill from there.

Auberge 31 is right up there on the hill so no need to trailer. Def better nightlife staying in town.

  3. no, down to 1 sled and limited trips but plenty more in the future. Soonest I will hit the snow will be Jan. I gotta work to make up for all the time I have taken off to have fun with my son racing. starting racing quads again in Late March right after Cains Quest

Headed to Orlando for 10 days in Dec and taking my son to the Shuttle Launch Dec 6th.

One of these days we'll run into you up there, looking at a second trip around the 11th of Jan.

  4. So, it's snowing up there, there is snow on the ground, and rumour has it that there will be grooming this Thursday.

Anyone going up? Two of us are thinking about going up on net Monday to check things out.

    Any comments?

I'll be at Auberge31 Friday night through Monday night. 2-3 feet according to sources up there. Thats better than when I was there last December.

  5. Yes, that is the down side to the internet, everyone knows where to ride. As little as 5 years ago Shawinigan and Lac St. Jean areas were quiet uncrowded riding "secrets". Everyone went to St. Zenon and such... Now by the end of the day the trails around Jonquiere are trashed. Where will the new place to ride be??? I know I am hoping to spend my winter riding season in a different area of PQ this season. :good:

i think the expense of riding canada will cut down on some of that. With high fuel prices here combined with a 1.07 exchange the days of Canada being close to the states in cost is long gone and while the die hards will drive and pay even many of them are trying to stick closer to the states this year.

  6. I will post back as soon as i have more info on the real conditions at the Valins

I will be hauling the new Team Maine Hauler both this weekend and next. I am not sure what one is on imagetext.

The new rig from or sponsor Mission Trailers is a Goose Neck.

I think that we have enough guys going next week that we plan to stay in a private chalet up on the ski hill.

So if your in the Village come see us. We are near the top of the road on the right side.

it was the gooseneck, good looking trailer.

We're at Auberge 31, couldn't get a hold of Passion when we were looking to make reservations so we didn't stay there this time.

  7. Sounds like i might make a few more calls as i have been told that there is 12"-18" by Yuon Furtin

I will post when i know more

    ER

that would make me happy if that was true we've talked about bailing on our reservation for next week.

Are you pulling the team maine rig up there T-day weekend, saw the pics on imagetex, thats a pretty cool setup.

  8. Legend, Are you sure it's not 198 Hrs? That's a pretty fast average at 98 Hrs.

I am not that hard on it either but I did give it a good run last year when the injector stuck open. It would only run right at full throttle. I was so frustrated I think I kept it WOT from Sacre Coer to the Chappell. When I stopped it was fixed :)

I guess we'll find out in 2 hours if it rolls over 100 or if it's only 2 digits on the display. I was thinking 98 seemed a bit low(just about 50mph average) but 198 seems too high.

  9. i have 5000 on mine(98 hours 38 minutes on the motor when I checked yesterday) and am planning on doing just normal preventative to it. I don't beat on my sled and run it WOT for miles at a time so I'm taking the basic precautions and moving forward. I'm actually still warrantied on it but the last thing I want to do is breakdown out in the sticks of Quebec this year. Just greased it, canaged the chaincase oil, cleaned the clutches, waiting for a new wheel for the ski and a replacement handguard bracket and I'll be good to go.

  10. I am looking for new ski's for my wifes 05 GSX 600 SDI. I am not sure what to get and looking for some recommendations. Rob I believe you replaced yours and was just wondering what you are using and how happy you are with what you put on.

    Thanks,

    Bob

I'd try slydogs or put pilots on them. Slydogs have way more control than prescisions without the overly heavy steering of C&A's.
