  1. question dooright, with or without electric shield?
  2. I have been looking up info on the BV2 this morning and a lot of people are saying they have trouble with them fogging up. You are telling me yours does not fog? I have the original modular that BRP made, but I am tired of the face mask and have issues with the mask leaking, I had used that helmet about 5 years. Last year I bought a new full face with an electric shield. That helmet is hard to get over my big head and a lot of COLD air comes up under my chin and onto my face. Needless to say I am not happy with that either. The BV2 looked like a good choice but for the cost and then if I would have to buy electric shields that are about $160 each. I doubt there will be any happy shopping here, just one big tough decision.
  3. Who do you think has the best modular helmet and why? I am looking for comfort , warmth and it needs to be easy to put on. I also do not care who makes it. I am looking to replace both of our helmets in the off season.
  4. I started my wife on a smaller older used 340 sled, I got a great price at the time and did not know if she would even like the sport. It was a good choice, she loved it and still rides today. she did hit a tree the second year. Did not destroy it, but plenty of damage and still ridable. After 2 seasons we both snowchecked and basically got the same sled just a different motor. 550 fan for her 600 for me. I again thought it was a good choice, it was light and easy to throw around and it handled good. On that sled she really learned how to ride and I tought her about different characteristics about sleds and what could be done to correct different handling issues. That is why she hit the tree with the first sled, it did not turn and she did not tell me so i did not correct the problem. 7000 miles later we snow checked again, this time we got identical sleds motor color everything the same. She does great the sled handles so good everytime I look back I see her headlights in my mirror. That is when I ride normal. When I really get on it lose her and have to slow down so she can catch up. Bottom line she rides mile for mile with me know she loves it. We already have rode 350 in 1 day, left after breakfast and returned before dark. So you can tell by that that she does clip along at pretty good rate. Bottom line if you want to do a lot of miles your significant other needs to have a capable equivalent sled that rides and handles the same as the one you are riding. Motor size does not really matter, ride and handling and comfort does matter!
  5. As always great report Alain! Now I am really kicking myself for going to NY last week. Viper2 looks like I will miss you by a week, we are heading to Le Cabanon on the 24th. I would of liked to meet you.
  6. Check out the detail! I would love to take a cruise across the lake! Looks like someone had to much time on there hands.
  7. I do not think that was the case this past week! I have never seen so many sleds in 2 days!!! Hundreds, maybe thousands, they where everywhere. Almost every restaurant along the trail probably had a hundred sleds parked! We pulled over to take a break and in about 10 minutes I would have to say 50 sleds drove by!
  8. Yes! Tested a broken piece on the rear suspention that I welded back up! It held up on Tugg Hill so I know I am good for Quebec. We actually had decent trails for about 3 hours Thurday morning, freshly groomed overnight! Beat to hell by 11 am, all down hill from there.
  9. Make that X4 on Quebec! I tried riding for the 1st time in 4 years in the US. this week. I do not see myself riding again stateside in a long time! It just does not compare at all!!
  10. $1.21 are you sure! On line it has been showing about $1.05 for the last month or so.
  11. I really did make a mistake! I should have kept heading north. I have redicovered the MOGUL!
  12. Good Question Viper! Where should I start? Thrill of the ride! Going to places we would never have seen without snowmobiling. Doing something most people would not even think about doing. We actually love going to Quebec and meeting new people of a different culture who speak a different language (and trying to communicate with them), and we love to try foods from all the different restaurants in Quebec. Plus most of the people we know think that we are absolutely nuts for walking out the door at 20 to 30 below or colder and jumping on the sleds and riding. Going back to cost, that you started, you are absolutely correct, it is out of hand. Every time we need to upgrade to new equipment I want o quit , but I cannot! As Polaris found out you cannot sit on the old and depend on your old customers to return. I truly believe this almost took them out of making snowmobile because almost everybody wants the newest and best technology out there and that is what drives up the cost of sleds-R&D!! That is probably half the cost of each slead, at least that is my opinion.
  13. Sorry! I wont be able to help you. We decided to stay state side for our first ride! I probably screwed up with that decision, but it obviously is not the first time. Good luck, I think you will find better contions than I will. With the pics that I have seen in the last 2 days it does not look too bad for early season riding. Alain keep sending the pics you are really geeting us all excited to head north. Thanks!
  14. Let me know how you like the Rush! I was sooo close to buying one, but I held off. Waiting to see if they come out with a DI 600 in 2011. Did you get the bags? Are they big enough to fit everything? They look small to me.
  15. The weather network is now showing 20 to 30 CM of SNOW between now and Sunday afternoon followed by a few MM of rain Sunday evening! Anybody here anything different? I am now planning on heading up early Tuesday morning unless this all turns out to be rain.
  16. Thanks Groomer! Here is another one Same trail! I would have taken the groomer operator out for a steak dinner after riding these trails. Valins February 08.
  17. They are not new but this is what we will ride for another 2 seasons. 5000 miles on each and almost trouble free.
  18. I am already leaning that direction after todays weather report for NY. Sleet, freezing rain and then rain for NY. and the trails are already marginal there. That weather could really destroy what they already have. I am probably going to make up my mind Saturday afternoon. That will mean 3 trips to Quebec this year. That is not a bad thing at all. After all I skipped NY 3 years in a row for a reason! Thanks for your reply, I will look for your next post this weekend.
  19. I have a delema, I was going to go to NY after x-mas for my 1st ride, but it is looking bleek up there. NY is only 5 hrs north, or do I make the 10 1/2 hr drive to St. Zenon. I guess this question is for Alain, Is it worth the drive? I definately want to go somewhere I have 2 weeks with no work. I feel I have to go somewhere. The drive does not bother me, but there are a lot of extra fuel cost. I plan on leaving on the 28th. I been up there in the past before New Years and it was decent.
  20. I also bought a Bombardier Modular helmet used it about 5 years, but I got tired of the pads, the terrible air leaks that helmet has and the rubber face mask that would occationally leak and fog up my face shield. Last year I went back to a full face polaris cyclone helmet and yes I have a heated shield with a cord. But it is comfortable and warm. Almost forgot, some great tips! There are some things I would of never thought about. Going to stick some Immodium in the bag this weekend.
  21. Thanks for the pics, the wife and myself will be headed up that way in a couple of weeks.
  22. As far as the bar seen, i almost always seem to have a good time at the Cabanon. I also had some good nights at Real masse, one year I think New Years eve 2005 the owners and all the staff and almost every one staying there that night celebrated the new year with all the free champain you could drink. Too bad the beer was not free. Now if you are talking about places with good food I like the Burgers and fries at Repos, always good. Onatchaway is good and Koubecs used to have the best chili (I do not know if they still do it has been a while)
  23. I agree! I love the rustic places or any place snowmobilers are staying. I meet new people everyplace I go and I think that is half the fun. You seem to meet new friends most places that you stay. Because of what we love to do you always have somthing in common with everybody you meet. Ho w can you go wrong in Quebec, great people and the best trails in the world. OH! Almost forgot. Kanawata been there 1 time, very nice place! We plan on stopping by ther this January.
  24. I must say the people at Le Cabanon will do almost anthing to help when you have a problem. I have seen it many times there. 2 years ago I loaded and ready to leave -33C truck would not start. Dennis the owner came out took all the extension cords that where plugged into the groomers to get electric to me, opened the garage gave me there battery charger, all so I could leave. PLEASE DO NOT STOP COMING TO QUEBEC FOR $154!! You definately will not find this kind of trail system anywhere else. You ran into 1 bad apple among many people that want and need us there to support them in the winter. Just my 2 cents.
