  1. I don't know about all that but what I do know is I used to have to trailer up here 8hrs to ride like many of you do.

Sometimes not always sure what would be there when I got there.

So I will not bullshit anyone I know it's a long way to drive but well worth it as anyone who comes to ride in Quebec knows

Riding anywhere else is just not comparable

by the way snowing again now maybe another inch or so about 5 inches so far today real fluffy stuff now

getting much colder too almost -9 now supposed to go to -15c so thats great for sure

:yahoo: Oh thank you God and Mother Nature - keep the snow coming please

  2. Could we have some sort of collective 'snow dance' please guys n gals. We are flying out from U.K. 7th February for our only chance each year to snowmobile and so can't put off our trip ! Watching the forcasts and trip reports everyday in the hopes of some good news.

  3. I understand that the posting of this letter has found its way onto a french speaking quebec forum. It has been respectfully recieved by Quebec readers, who are trying to give its message and impact an even wider distribution throughout Quebec.

Hard hitting stuff, but does just want you want it too - makes you think !

  4. Groomer:

Something in the water up there??? Seems to be acceptable practice to transport roof top...

I know I'm a newcomer to the sport but can someone tell me how the hell you get a snowmobile on the roof of your car like that? Is it actually legal ? I think if you tried that here in the U.K. you'd probably loose your licence !

  5. OK , What would be the Best GPS to buy to load all the trail maps/waypoints into. How much are they and could I pay someone here to load it all in for me??

With you there Bill, its even worse for me. I'm in the U.K. and although I use a TomTom GPS on the road here, it seems you actually need a Garmin to download the trails onto or an SD card that only works in a Garmin ! So I decided I would buy a cheap Garmin just to use for the traials and I did start to read everything about downloading and overlaying etc. but closed the thread down and went and got a beer instead and started thinking 'do I really want the trails on a GPS' - unfortunatly I do!

  6. Have just posted this question on another thread, but if anyone can help it would be appreciated. I have a TomTom GPS that I was hoping to use but being in the U.K. have no idea where to download trail map for the Sag. Region from. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

  7. As non-American's you probably don't want our input for your article Greg but just wanted to add anyway - All of the comments from above plus also for us, not only the hospitality of the Canadian's but, as new-comer's to the sport, the help, advice and friendship we have found from all our new made American friends (especiallly Bill and JD). Thank you all.

Quite apart from the fact that Pat and I actually met there, both fell in love with the place and snowmobiling and have tried to come to the region every year since - its a long way for us from the U.K. (She made me add that last paragraph!!)

Nice place to stay. usualy once or twice in the summer and winter every year.

1/2 days ride from the HI, next day you can go up and take the ferry, climb into Mt Valin and stay at KM31, then back to the HI.

Bill can give you some info as well.

Thanks for that MrGutz, I assume they have safe parking for sleds? The place looks fantastic and have heard so many people talking about it. Do you have to book in well ahead or just turn up and hope?

We are Already talking about trying to make our 2 weeks into 3 by using some Christmas holiday on top of our usual two weeks! Especially if Bill sources that place with the hot tub/waterfall !

  9. I would guess that they are in the ramp-up mode getting product ready for the fall shows. that, coupled with their relocation probably has them "not manning the phones". hopefully, they are not out of biz.

Try em again after labor day (US). hopefully you will get thru. communicators are a real safety aid on the trail. if you still cannot get in touch with collett, try Chatterbox.

    good luck

    timbo

I will keep trying them and keep fingers crossed as we really would feel better having them than not

    had you checked this website?????

    www.collettcommunicators.com

    timbo

Yes timbo, thats the one we have been trying to order from but even the on-line order form is not showing now. Pat has e-mailed Christine Collett early in August and got a reply from her but since then nothing. They had a note on the web-site saying they were moving but even that is gone now and they do not answer their phones either. A guy on the dootalk.com forum was having the same trouble too.

Just wondered if they were another company in trouble due to this recession. Shame we really wanted those communicators.
