  1. S Pump

I used my Garmin 500 last year using the cigarette lighter on my F8. So you need to hook up a female lighter adapter. (you cannot cut off the plug and hardwire, there is a voltage reducer in the plug) or you can purshase a permanet hardwire kit.

I moved to the hardwire kit because the cold temps. and the fragile wire attached to the cigarette plug.

Does your F8 have a battery? Xfire doesn't..........

Where does everyone hookup their electric shield?

There is a pigtail down under the hood but nobody seems to know if it is AC or DC.......how would I tell, ground one side to chassis? You ready to ride old man? Looks like next week may be maiden voyage, going to VT to shake out the Cat and see if I want it, next week, we ride..............

  2. I've gotten allot of info on installing a GPS on a 2009 Crossfire. Some say I can hook up to the accessory plug found just ahead of the gas tank, others say that is AC not DC so I can't. I have a Garmin 60 CSX with a cigarette lighter adapter. Has anyone actually done this and can give me guidance not guesses.................any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

  4. Let me help you, first is the relay on way to claremont, stopped to fill up those yamahas again, second is matane waiting to load the ferry, you know the place where the yamaha had to be towed on because it wouldn't start, third is a heavy boat anchor stuck again, and forth is in front of the holiday inn in jonquire :good:

You're pretty funny...........I blive you were stuck 20 feet farther after poaching my tracks and that little 600 Renegade walked right by.....got any deals for me?.....:bc:

  5. I'll sell you one with the Quebec maps already loaded. They are RWS' maps and very accurate. I have a Garmin 60CS with altimeter, compass and mapping capability. I'm upgrading will sell for $245 shipped with maps and Ram mount. Unit is perfect, have all the cords, disc and manuals. Works awesome, got us home in a couple blizzards when I wouldn't have tried to find my way otherwise.

  6. thanks phil

will check out reima for sure

I would watch out for the Reima stuff now.........seems since Scott bought them, the quality has dropped off considerably...........I have years old Reima Goretex bibs that are still fairly waterproof and warm but will replace them this year with Klim. (Burnt a hole through them standing around a fire) Choko is very nice durable gear and seems to be the choice among local Quebeccers :drinks: I see on cold days..........

  7. Groomer, I have a nice SLR but the digital is so quick and easy I end up using that most of the time. The first two that say Maine were actually in Connecticut, the same night as the rainbows, The clouds looked like a wave coming, was a cold front after the rainbow. The Maine pictures were from Long Lake in Harrison Maine, the mountains are Mt Washington and others in New Hampshire 60-80 milres away. hope to see you on the trails this winter.............

  8. A good ride I did a couple years ago was St Georges de Beauce (sp), Montmagny, cross down to Campbellton, south side of the Gaspe, Perce, St Anne des Monts, Amqui and back down to St Georges. took us 4.5 days with only one afternoon playing around. Gotta watch the snow on the north side as it can get thin around Rimouski but take the trail inland of the coast and it piles up.

Another good one I did year before last was, bernieres Hotel in Saint Nicholas, up to Matane, cross Ferry to Baie Comeau, up to Jonquiere and back down to Shawinagin. Unfortunately my sled puked at Lac Edourd and I had a very expensive and adventurous ride to Shawinagin but it was a great trip. Took some trapper trails from the seaway up to Jonquiere, guys that have been on it know what I am talking about and rolled into Chappelle late at night. Got a bite and off to Jonquiere. Met a couple guys on the ferry and told them we would be in Jonq. that night and they laughed. Was just under a 400 mile day but very rewarding. I'll dig up some tracks if you want, I have most on GPS files so I can get accurate mileage. We tend to plan for smooth sailing but hardly ever find it. We do always have fun though.............First loop is 12-1500 miles depending on how you cut up the Gaspe and the second is around 1000-1150 depending.

  9. How about this one

    Near Riotel in Matane...........

I scratched into there a couple years ago looking for Bobler. Sat in the bar and had a couple pops until Bobler found me. Put more wear on my sled in 10 miles than the 10,000 before it.
