  1. What's up Bobolina? Looking to ride next week, Monday, Tuesday start. You in?
  2. So I mounted up the Elite Ti 5 really nice and secure and installed Topo Insight HD. Problem is, road names don't show and resolution is only fair. Does anybody know if there might be a setting to get better resolution and detail down to logging road names etc?
  3. Yah, I've been going back and forth with the Denis, probably ride in Maine this weekend. Valin, is too much windshield time. Hope o see you this season. We should be up most weekends, we have the house at Sky Lodge again this year.
  4. Hi Guys, haven't been here in some time and have forgotten most of my GPS knowledge from when Rob started this thread. So I just got a Lowrance Elite 5Ti for sled use. It looks like it is able to take several map options. I have been riding primarily in Maine for the last decade, mostly off trail up towards the Allagash. Does anyone know where to find good detailed topo maps compatible with Lowrance for back country poking around?
  5. Howard, never realized you were Roadrunner on here..... Hopefully get a ride in this year with Carrier and crew. Try to keep the rubber side down.
  6. Bill is a good fella and good for the sport. Hope to see him this season.
  7. Nice sled, I had the same one. '09 Sno Pro?
  8. Definitely one of the best sections of trail I've ever ridden. Last time there I stopped to take a picture (With a Camera) at the suspended bridge. Take off, go a few miles and notice my pocket was open and the camera gone. Just about to turn around and Bobler comes pulling up and hands me my camera. Awesome, until I look on he back and see a perfect center punched hole from Boblers stud. At least the memory card was intact.....
  9. I pulled the trailer in the yard last season and wife said who's sled is that? Oh that's mine I said. She said, no that one. Oh that's mine too. I guess I forgot to tell her I bought a mountain sled for those deep days. It did make it easier to convince her that I needed a new sled for this year and I would sell both and get "just one".
  10. Great Place, been there a bunch of times. Usually run into someone we know at the bar or at breakfast. Been a while since I've been there but hope to make a few runs up there this year..
  11. Great Job Rob, I was following you on your' and Howard's FB posts but the narrative really helps fill in the details. Look like an awesome adventure. Gonna try to get up to the Chic Chocs yet this year and when time and money allows, start doing some of these "adventure trips". Maybe get out with that guy from Jackman.
  12. Long Time Boys......have a great Thanksgiving.
  13. Gonna try and make it.... haven't been here in a while but a good group of folks here for sure.
  14. How do I sign up for that program? I'll have a winter rental on the Quebec border again next season, I would be happy to "long term test" any long track 800 for you...:snack:
  15. My sled is a 14 Cat 800, stood upnvery well with only one belt, no hyrax, one set of carbides for 4000 miles.....I'll freshen up the shocks and run it another 4-5000 miles.
  16. Just a touch under 4000 but a great season nonetheless. Probably a solid 1/3 was off trail so miles didn't pile on but had more fun than most years.....best mileage since 07.
  17. I've been beating my buddies up for one more ride but no takers.......guess Ill have to wait till December like the rest.
  18. That bridge almost got the best of me...........back in 08 or 09, after a 300+ mile ride into Jonquiere, I caught a ski while crossing that and got tossed over the bars onto the road on the left side...........If I had gone right my landing would have been much worse..........$6000 worth of damage but no injury...........I think Saguenay Bill was there when I arrived a little worse for the wear.
  19. Good to see all you guys still at it...been riding Maine last few years and it's not as good as Quebec but pretty good. I'm picking up a Lowrance Elite 5 today and was wondering if anyone has any Maine sled maps like the old Quebec maps made by RWS? His maps were awesome and inspired alot of confidence when in questionable conditions. Like QMR says above, rely on yourself, know your equipment and always be prepared for the worst....:bc:
  20. We came up that trail at night last year early in December, alot of bushwacking but we made it through...........too bad, I really like that section.
  21. RR sya hi to Denis and Smitty, I was in on that trip until late this week, plans fell through............looks like I missed a good one. Next week.
  22. I'm in the market for a new large screen GPS that I can use on both my boat and my sled......I loved my 60 Cs but the screen shrank over the last couple years (weird). I'm looking at Lowrance and Garmins, I like the simplicity of the Lowrance Elite 4 s but I'm not sure if they will be compatible with trail maps. Any thoughts?
