Thank you for the replies. I am sure L'Escale will be fine otherwise it will be Forestel next time.

Does anyone have the English installation instructions for PC Version? PDF is in french.

I will be in Val D'or next weekend and we have chosen to stay at this property this time. We have always stayed at Forestel but we had issues with them last winter so we are trying somewhere new.
If anyone has stayed here? If so, can you comment on the trail access in from 83? Road running etc.?
Is there gas available near by?
Thank you in advance.

We enjoyed Hotel Matagami when we stayed there.

Had a guy here last night at my place who is leaving New Liskard on Saturday . He showed me a posting on the club facebook site of a map for a temporary trail that they are going to use this weekend to get to the Quebec side. https://www.facebook.com/227537464090413/photos/pb.227537464090413.-2207520000.1454499836./390851267759031/?type=3&size=901%2C1166&fbid=390851267759031
As of right now, that still shows closed on the OFSC trail status map. However I just noticed they are trying to get it open today or tomorrow.

Must be data info. 189, 190 and 191 are all closed as is the lake trail. I guess they don't want riders heading into Quebec.
Looks like the only open route is A102Q.
-
How about the crossing from North Bay? A112A?
It's A102Q and that might be our only option or we simply change our route....
-
FYI:
I have a trip planned for this weekend and I was inquiring about the cross border trail from Ontario as well as Quebec.
Here is the response from the local club in Rouyn.
"For the trail coming in from Kirkland Lake it will not be open on the Quebec side this year."
So it looks grim for anyone trying to do cross border trips.
A105Q from Cochrane to Laraine is closed for good.
A110Q from Kirkland Lake to Rouyn is closed for the season on the Quebec side.
A107Q from New Liskeard is also closed likely due to ice conditions.

I wonder if 14 Snow is referring to Pouvoirie La Verendre? It's on Trail 386 about 10 kilometres south of TQ63.
Yes this is the place we are staying on the Saturday night. I couldn't remember the exact name. I knew it wasn't Joncas, I was just using that as a reference point.

Hi,
We have a planned trip on February 5-8 and we plan on riding into Quebec from Ontario near Swisha or somewhere along the river. Our first day in Quebec takes us up TQ43 to 386 and up the the Outfiffer lodge that popped up after Joncas shut down. From their we ride back towards Ontario and cross back at New Liskeard.
A few years back, I rode from Senneterre down to Joncas and then to Swish and I recall most of it being great trails, and mainly logging roads.
Can anyone comment on my noted route? What are the trails like in general and specifically this winter?
Thank you in advance.

This is a great "introduction" into Quebec. It's a great little trip you have planned there. Did a very similar route last year.
Like others said, you will be back many more times.

Day 2
Warmer Today with the snow but wind makes it a bit chilly for sure.
Had a nice stay at Villa Mon Repos in La Sarre. Sleds were nice and happy happy in the heated garage. Chatted it up with 2 big groups from Ontario. Nice guys. Was talking with one group and they started with the..."Ontario has the best Snowmobile trails in all of Canada"
I simply said "then what are you doing here, I see an awful lot of Ontario guys and gals riding in Quebec" . They had no response.
Any who....
No big rush today. Left hotel around 9:30am and we started our bingo run of Orange local loops all around and up above La Sarre. Super sweet. Despite the light snow and wind making some places a real whiteout, that would be the way it was all day. Flat light a bit drifted here and there and windy but hey that is snowmobiling. Spent 3 hours zipping around up down and back and forth on the Orange trails. Then decided to head down 93 to Royun Noranda. 93 super fast. Arrived there and bypassed the vile on an Orange trail that took us across to 83. 83 also super, no let downs today the west did provide. 83 to cut across orange and into Pressiac. Then on to the fresh groomed 307 and a fast run up to 93 and on into Amos.
Sitting happy again at Amosphere. Sleds put to bed in heated garage again, nice.
All is well.
240 miles
Here at 4:15pm.
I am an Ontario guy and reading your post made me ask the same question, why are you here there... I love Northern ON & Quebec.
Where's the heated garage at Villa Mon Repos? Stayed there a number of time, as recent as the winter before last and I don't recall the heated garage?
VMR and Amosphere are both great places. Like them both.

We left Temis. Friday morning rode 200 miles to Val D'or. Forestel is really nice now and it was packed with sledders.
Saturday rode 210 miles from Val D'or to Amos via 309 then on to La Sarre and then down to Rouyn Noranda.
Sunday was a quick 150 miles back to the truck.
Trails were excellent, hospitality was great as always.
Saw a Cat catch fire and burn at the gas pump in Anglers. (on 303). We helped pull it away from the pump and put out the fire. Fortunately the gas station had 2 fire extinguishers.
At the same station a dead Powertec 800 Doo was dragged in. All were from Ontario.
Great weekend all around. -
Great, thanks for the update!
-
I am going through there Friday so I hope someone can confirm this before then.

agree on Motel Alpin, likely the easiest to get too depending on where you are coming and going from. I have stayed there a number of times and never had a bad experience.
-
Hotel Matagami was fine when I stayed there a few years back. Gas and supplies are directly next store, food was good, fire place in the bar was warm and the drinks were cold. What more can you ask for? Also your first drink is included in your rate.
-
Will be riding into La Bannik on Sunday then north east to Val-d'or on Monday then up to Matagami on Tuesday. I hope to post some reports.
-
Hi-Mileage isn't traveling with us but I consulted him on a few things. Everything is set except that Val-D'or VS Amos question. Leaning toward Val-D'or then up to Matagami.
Can't wait!
-
Thanks for all the reports. I am starting a trip there next sunday.

Thanks for the replies.

I am considering riding this trail as part of our tour. I can see from the map there is absolutely nothing on this trail. Has anyone ridden and can report it's conditions this year? Is this part of a hydro cut?
Considering this route northbound or the 396 on the east side.
Thanks!

I just booked for the first week of March. Looking forward to this stop on our tour.

Was up that way about 3 weeks ago. Most of the trail had been groomed except north of the Tembec camp.. that was stick city for about 1o miles. They had also plowed the power line from the warming shack towards Matagami fro about 5 miles. Grommer was working working on a new trail. Got Gas in Villibos & Tembec camp. Cash only at Tembec.
Thanks. I rode this in the past and it was stick city from Tembec for a lot more than 10 miles... I had a brand new sled at the time. I will never forget that ride. I was hoping that with more snow, those sticks get burried

I never updated this after we were there. We did stay at L'Escale. It was hard to find but it was -35 or so and dark. Once we got there we took advantage of the heated garage. The restaurant/Bar was good. There was a DJ that made it very entertaining. Rooms and breakfast were also good. Off the top of my head, I forget where the fuel was.
Would stay again but we did book Forestel for next weekend. Frankly we were on the fence but thought Forestel was a bit easier to find and for getting fuel.
As I write this, I would still stay at either in a heartbeat.
