  1. Just Got Back 309 needs work from Beletere to Rapide-Sept. 396 North of Tembec camp Staick are real bad. 396 half way from Matigami to Lebel-sur Quevilion needs work. rode the road for about 15 miles. No one is riding. Lots of snow.

    Dave

396 North of Tembec camp, you said "staick" are real bad. Do you mean the sticks? If so, been there, done that back in 2007....with a brand new sled.

  2. btw ,just talked with the foreman for the truck logging road and he told me trucking is done on trail 595 since 3 weeks ....but i can t tell you ,if that part of plowed trail has been groomed .

Last week I rode 595 on Wednesday last week from the north to south and there was no signs of logging at all, just a heck of a lot of show. We also saw a few moose on that trail about 15 miles south of TQ5. were almost breaking trail most of the way due to the new snow on Monday and Tuesday.

  3. Groomer,

Stopped at the clubhouse around noon today had a great lunch. Waitress called you but you weren't in. I think you were still out grooming. We signed the guess book. From the bridge on TQ5 in the south all the way up trails were excellent. Drifts started again on our route north.Lots of snow on 587 towards La Redemption. Unfortunately we missed radar. I think we drove passed the cut. Off.

Overall trails were excellent, thank you!!

  4. Left RDL on the morning of the 28th. The RDL area at that time had the lowest snow compared to everything else we have run so far. It was low snow with an icy base before Monday's snow. Not sure how much they got. So far, from our travels, the interior has the most snow. Say from TQ5 south on 595 to La Cache is the best we have seen so far but we didn't get east of Cap Chat.

  5. just back from the clubhouse.went to meet a member from hcs with his wife/girlfriend.they were arriving from cross point.he said, up the hills west of cross point ,even at the st fidele cb,if i remember well,8-10'' of fresh snow.

weather was not too nice in albertville, windy with nice gusts of wind .about 3-4'' of fresh snow.

here in town,it s not light, not heavy ...let say ''medium '' and not windy for the moment.-7c right now .

i ll see what will happen ,should be very windy later or tomorrow.one local at the clubhouse told me up to a foot til tomorrow .

    first pic,bunch of 10-12 ontarios

    groomer !!!

Thanks for posting these. We ran into the two people from these photos and recognized the sleds from this post. We have now become friends.

Monday was a challenge due to the weather.

We will be passing through tomorrow. We will hopefully drop in. Hopefully your trails are groomed. :)

  6. A group of use are heading to the Gaspe on the 23rd to do the loop for the first time. I had a look at the conditions that were posted last week and they were listed as excellent for most of the way around! I see now that they have been down graded to good. So I guess my question is that with this new snow that was recived last week and the snow on the way do you think that they will improve enough to be listed as excellent again buy middle of next week?

    Thanks

I'd bet on them changing to Excellent again as they get the new snow groomed. Forecasts predict a bunch this weekend.

  7. I've been watching the Gaspe conditions for as I am planning a trip there later this month. From what I can gather, the conditions are good all the way around except 1 spot where the trail is closed due to a bridge repair but scheduled to be open soon. Looking at the Weather Network forecast for this week, in various places there, the highest temp was about 34 and snow (upwards of 20+) was in the forecast. My guess would be that you would be fine.

I am sure "groomer" will provide an update when he can. I am still very curious too.

  8. Thanks for the update and welcome. Being from Ontario, I try to ride areas of Quebec every other year. I love the trails and hospitality in Quebec.

I rode from Villebois to Matagami in 2007 and there was gas at Tembec's camp on the way up but that was all. It was what we called the day of the sticks. We had "slappers" coming up through the trail most of the way due to low snow. That trail would have been amazing if they were packed in the base. Good trip up otherwise and a better trip down the other side the next day. Our accommodations in Matagami were good.
