  1. For those of us touring in Quebec, a two-stroke is more of a liability than an asset. The smell, carrying oil, longevity, etc makes a four-stroke a no-brainier.

X2 on the smell! I can't even stand to ride behind one with the new oil they are running.I can smell em when they go past in the other direction and can smell em when

I am coming up on them from behind from about a half mile out.And the warmer it is the worse they smell.

  2. That's why I prefer to stay of the blue trails. Green and orange are usually in much better shape even in the afternoon due to less traffic. Sunday we were riding excellent trails in the afternoon but as soon as we went on TQ3 to get back to Quebec City the moguls were present.

That happens there no matter how cold the trail is.

  3. By the size of the banks maybe the stop sign was covered or knocked over. Not all of them have the warning stop sign ahead of the real one and it could have been hidden as well..

Have to always be careful especially the roads that are just over the crest of a hill.

  4. My guess with your throttle is busting drifts the throttle cable got some snow in it, then melted and froze and stuck. After riding it awhile and stopping the underhood heat thawed it again.

May be a problem only first thing in the mornings.Used to happen a lot on older vintage sleds.

Another plus for ITC on your new Enduro.

Pretty sure all the mfgrs say to check your throttle and brake before starting to make sure it returns freely.

  5. I have a 2016 renegade 1200 X 137".Carrying gas is worse than having to carry oil.I've been 120's into the 130's miles several times this year and the most I have put in was 36 liters

and that was a lot of trail 35.Unless your are going riding off trail where you are pushing snow,if you run out on the groomed trail it is your own fault for passing a gas station.

When the low gas light comes on I have about 3 gallons left.

  6. If you're looking for a place on your return trip to stay in St.Michel I would recommend the Domaine Du lac Taureau. It is listed on this years map.

It is on the lake almost where the old Lac of the pines was.Jump on the lake at canada adventure ,run the lake almost all the way down and its about a mile from the

campgrounds where you get off on the left.Staked and marked.Been open on and off for a few years and steady the last 2.Very nice and reasonably priced.

We had a large room with 3 beds.Had to skip the included breakfast because they don't serve til 8:00 and we like to be on the trail about 7ish.

    Watch out for the deer.

We did the Gouin loop and back from the La Glaciere a couple weekends ago and stayed there.

  7. Not sure where the best place to put a little update.

Monday, Feb 15th, we drove Autoroute 20 from Quebec City to Drummondville and then 10 and 55 to the border in the truck of course. St Nicolas, Bernieres, looked OK. Three trucks in the lock up and a few more in the big parking lot so I'm guessing a few sledders went out. As we drove along you could see the snow get thin. By the time we got to Drummondville, we were looking for the lawnmowers to be out. No snow and lots of dirt.

Going down thru the Eastern Townships there was a bit more snow. I don't think I would try to do a trip from there but there was snow. It looked awful icy on top and hadn't been broken up yet.

    Jack & Sandi

Is that a futurecast? I guess you meant the 1st. lol

  8. A couple of us have the Rouski wheels.I did some research before we bought and glad we went with them.Ours are manually operated.

I took the set I had on my polaris for three years and retro fitted them to my ski doo.Got to use them last weekend on one of the detours

due to this low snow winter.I won't ride without them now.Almost as mandatory as reverse. You don't know they are there til you need them.

Also will keep your sled cooler by not working nearly as hard to push carbide thur those bare parking lot gas stations in the spring!

  9. Hey Shane ,

Sounds like you guys are having a great time up there! I left the Universal last Friday. Have fun and be safe!

I like to stay and eat at the Best Western - Hotel Levesque when I'm in RDL. It's only a few blocks away from the Universal. They have a great restaurant with fine dining and a wonderful bar area with more casual dining. The waitresses and bar maids are very nice to look at also!

    Enjoy & keep posting!

X2 on the Levesque, stayed there Last Friday.Nice scenery!

  10. Riddle me this....

If the same minestere du Transports can make a law for the mandatory use of winter tires in Quebec, yet not apply that law to vehicles from the USA then it sure seems to me they can do the same with this new regulation for sleds.

Once it begins to really impact tourism that is probably what will happen.

Just make it so sleds not registered in the Province of Quebec are exempt from the regulation.

They do it now for vehicles and the winter tires.

    Hmmmmmm

we don't have to register our trucks in Quebec to drive there but we do have to register our sleds there.

  11. I'm curious if BRP can/had provided any input given they're Quebec based and activists for the sport and safety. Clearly, they have their factory Rip tracks that they'd love to sell, but hopefully BRP recognizes that they could be extremely influential in convincing the Govt of the dangers of No Studs. Then allow, as someone mentioned yesterday here, a 1-3 year window for full compliance.

I'm also a BRP shareholder and as much as its a great opportunity to sell new tracks, I'd be shocked if someone at HQ couldn't get access to the right people to discuss.

I didn't know BRP made tracks.
