  1. Looks like a PR fluff article to me.This was a small time operation.Looks like a pile of scrap going to the junkyard.

Anyone who was up in the 1990's knows these weren't the guys taking trucks, trailers and sleds.

With that being said ,one less is still one less.....Until they get back out.

    Keep 'em locked.

  2. I'm now back home! I had dropped the sled in Champlain area this morning and had planned to sleep at relai22 but yes, at the beginning of the afternoon, the top eye of one of my Boivin rear skid shock broke off and jam in the track. I have manage to remove the whole failed shock from the skid(not easy with the ice in there) and the sled was rideable like that but 1 shock = just one people on the venture, so I trade my wife for my partner backpack and with the very good trail condition we easily ride back to Champlain and Krikri did a Polaris backseat ride.

Thanks for your help offer Iceman, I was a bit mad at wrenching in that skid and froze my hands but your meet put me a smile and your partner stunt when you left give me a big laugh, thanks again my friend!

this said, you seems to have made a very nice run and thanks for your great real time report!

    Alain

Sorry to hear about your shock. We used to carry some spare parts(wheels, bearings, springs, skags)but must admit never a shock!

Be careful, now that Krikri has ridden a polaris she may start throwing rocks at yours.

  3. There is a reason the gas pumps are locked in a fence and the grocery store only has about 6 items in the whole place.

We always leave at least one person outside with the sleds while the others go in and pay.

And Beeler wasn't kidding about how the kids do like to hang on the bumper.

  4. NSHM there are places like on 63 W where there is no fuel for 140 - 160 miles these things don't push easily. A wrong turn, generator down in the bush, ect, ect. rather safe than sorry.

Trailblazer, very nice, these Rotopax are 2 gallons each.

You're right.Thats about the only area I haven't ridden yet.On my bucket list.

Plus,as soon as the tow strap is hooked up the paparazzi come running out of the bush!

Did'nt realize the federation stretched fuel stops that far apart.

    You're setup looks good.Enjoy you're new ride.

    Think Snow!!

  5. Speaking of gas, what is the price per litre averaging in Quebec now?

Has it been dropping like it has been in the states?

off topic but check this out.....and yes price has been dropping

    https://www.caaquebec.com/en/on-the-road/public-interest/gasoline-matters/gasoline-watch/

That looks a lot better than last year...approx .35 cents per litre cheaper than last year.

That will save around $10 bucks a fill !

    Thanks for the link!

Did'nt mean to hijack the thread.

  6. Yes I remember that hill quite well. People use to hold everyone up while trying to get a running start at it. Saw a lot of people not make it. Were you the gang that had the same guy go out every morning and start everyones sled then when they were all ready to leave, the guy would go out to the middle of the street and stop traffic and direct everyone across? I beleive we hijacked this post.

    That wasn't us.

  7. I remember you guys now that I thought about what you were saying. I remember how I use to get up xtra early to try and get a table for our gang in the sunroom at breakfast. The brothers who had that 6 place open trailer. The car dealer from Quarryville, Pa. Tim Benders father. Of course everyone knew Don Auger. All the regulars that were at La Glacier at any given time. Rosie's down the street. Lou Lou's Steak House. The old lady who ran Koubec's. This was some of my favorite times in Quebec before we discovered saddlebagging. I also learned to like the median strip down the center that the Federation groomers use to make in the Parks.

Small world.....Lots of great memories. There was a big group from Pa. that stayed there the same week as us. Remember the hill that alot of people would get stuck on if they didn't have studs a few miles out across the street?

Then one year they cut a new trail beside it.We spent a couple hours on it one night trying to tow a broken sled up it.Never made it and had to go back to Gastons and leave it there.

Don't forget Maurice the groomer driver.

  8. St Loius,,you were mostlikly warmer sleeping outside sometimes lol,,than all the noise from bar and dancing girls,,good old days, thanks fir the memories

Gaston didn't own lac clair but it did burn along with a lot of places that wern't doing well....hhmmmm?
