  1. Rode that section last year, great description, Trail from Hell...92 hills we broke trail the whole way also. I kind of enjoyed it but it is a different type of riding. How about the long tall bridge, very cool structure.

    Ride safe.

We hit that trail coming off the ferry in Godbout to Baie Comeau last year third week in Feb. about 4:15 and it was groomed to perfection,

They had us worried on the ferry ,everyone we spoke to describing it as you encountered it.I'm glad it wasn't like that cause my buddys were giving me some bad looks....because...we thought we were taking the ferry to Baie Comeau where our reservation was for the night and didn't know we were going to Godbout til we got talking to the barmaid halfway across the river. It turned out to be the funnest trail we hit that week.....lucky for me.LOL. 4:30 would have been too early to check in for the night anyway.

What a difference a groomer can make!

  2. They are called 'trailblazers' by Qualipiece. They were recomended by the 2 dealers I called and as it turns out...I see this company at the sled show in toronto each year. They sold me my carbides and they also sell the good ski wheels. Tomorrow is my first day trying them out, but they look like they won't be in the way when not in use...but I will know better tomorrow.

Spelling ......Trailblizzers.....these are the flexible cable style.......also similar to slidekicks which have been upgraded to duraflex from Between the lines with replaceable carbide tips. You can back up without breaking them.

    Thanks

  3. Nice pics Linda.I have 3 sets of scratchers in the box at the sled den and all my sleds have them.To me its a must for a sled.Once you see how much snow they will put in your track. You will always use them.I have sold many a rider on the trail. They just see how much snow is in the track.Shipping is the same price for 3 or one pair..lol...have fun .. Jack

    Jack,

    What kind/brand are they?

Do they stay out of the way when not needed?

    Thanks

  4. Good luck as well with your new toy Crazysnow

been riding a 4 stroke for the past 6 years.... heavy sled. I was looking for a lighter sled, new chassis (REV-XS). Wanted to try BRP technology. These e-tec seems to be as good on gas as a 4 stroke.

    I don't think a 4 stroke is a prerequisite over here... right???

Not a prerequisite, but it is nice not to have to carry and add oil on saddlebag trips and the 600 will get a little better mpg at speeds up to about 50-55 mph but after that the 1200 will be better.(based on the guys I rode with this year)

Good luck and enjoy your new ride!!

  5. How old was this sled. Sounds like air in the system but was the antifreeze drained out prior to going on the trip? Let us know what you find out, Yamaha's are not known to overheat normally and with the snow conditions you had it should not have been a problem. :drinks:

Last year a guy in our group had a new yammi that kept overheating when we started out.

we drove it to the nearest dealer in quebec and they said from the factory they put in

straight antifreeze.he put in the proper mix and the problem went away.

  6. The 800 Doo motor is the old 800 P Tek with a different fuel induction system. The 800 has and will always have problems it is also a blast to ride. I would prefer them to back it off 25 HP and make it reliable it would still be more than fast enough. :)

wouldn't that make it about a 600? Better on gas too.

  7. Sorry, on the good side no one got hurt, you didn't spend much on fuel, and now is a perfect time to look at new iron. :yahoo:

Yeah, but I bet fuel for the sled would have been cheaper than the ride to the dealer.

    Been there done that.

  8. Not really any choices. I am in sort of the same quandry as you. Driving north from VT, we had found a small out-of-the-way Mom & Pop style motel where it was cheap, clean, safe and had a couple of good places to eat nearby. The place has changed hands and we don't feel as safe leaving our rig there - we usually leave from there and saddlebag. The best compromise we've found is to drive to the clubhouse in Beauceville, park there and ride out. Obviously, you have to time it so you get there at a time that works to make it to somewhere beyond to stay. St Jean-Port Joli, St Pamphile, Montmagny, or even RDL are possible overnights depending on your arrival.

We haven't gone to the Manor Lac Etchemin for about 5yrs. Too expensive and we thought they acted as if they don't really care about having snowmobilers stay there.

I can't wait not to go back there myself.
