  1. Try the Rabaska lodge north of Mont Laurier www.lerabaska.com info@lerabaska.com 819 623 1818 Martin and Dominique will take care of you devils mountains is close by and it will be a good experience. Plenty of riding they will help lay it outrides rent sledde if needed and cottages. They will go to extreme measure to take care of you ie look out for you daily. Tell them Jesse sent you if you contact them you will get better pricing. I will post pics from new years of the area today when I download them to the computer
  2. I was up last week for the new year rain up to Baie James. The trails were good out of the Rabaska till the 2. Even on the 2 we still made it to natawasi for lunch.
  3. I'm talking about the one in La tuque cross from the air port Irving I think? Generally I'm coming from saint Raymond I use that to shave some time. I don't know about that trail or heard of that one out towards Odin-ac (sp?) I came that way via grand Meir to relais 22 it could be things blend. If I want to get to the lake or back quick I use lac Edward not in early season
  4. Next time at the gas station go to the back head right on the trail for 100 yards a road will go off to the left take it. It is approx 3 mile and will take you directly onto the trail in the park. Once you do it you will realize you passed it a thousand time and never thought about it it blends in. I don't know about the lake but I do seem to remember a few log roads that cut some time 1/3 way up trail I would have to see them to remember. You could go through lake Edward to St francois that saves 1/2 day.
  5. The only short cut I know of is the road you will save 25 pluss miles. Jump on at the relas south of 22. You can also save some time before la t.. if coming through the park by taking the one log road. Takes you right to the gas station accross the air port. Another 45 min savfings

    Bad gaz

I don't know about the others but polaris has a fuse you change for this. It changes the motor and oil usage. Not a big deal imo both are rmks have worked well no issue. We do prep well at the end of the season imo more important
  7. Thanks Bill. Post master cald and said she is holding a package till I get in town. Hopefully see you in late Jan early Feb. Some of the old Jamison group and I are doing a 10 day around the lake and more.
  8. And one mangy mutt that pissed on my saddle bags in 2000. It was funny sq on the Polaris decal.
  9. The sled purpose was for cross country in any conditions. Cross country means different things to different people. Nothing wrong with you enjoying off trail riding unless it impacts others and the quality/availability of trails. I have been riding long track before they were factory. Mostly for the ability to keep touring if conditions took a turn. Cote no rd is good area. You likely wont effect the sport in more metropolitan area. The federation wont build those nor will the land owners allow it the liability alone. Gravel pits are dangerous keep that in mind. The other spectrum are the folks that would argue I have a race sled so I should be able to race and act like an ass on the trail. Just as wrong I.M.O The trails are not a right its a privilege respect them the same way you wish to be respected as a person.
  10. From what I can translate the trail to L etape are passable north was more rain to the Hi in J town. The park and the rail road bed are fair rideable with caution. The Lac Brochet Lac Edward area isn't safe. I read in the paper of a sledder going through the ice this past sat on Lac Edward 4" at the time of the accident. I would not take the short cut up to the big lake yet. Still round trip in the park is a nice ride for early season . Towing thank you I have no preconceive notions about the conditions. time will evolve them like past years.
  11. Looks good for early riding. The family and I will be up Dec 26 to Jan 6. If the cold stays things should go well. Glad you had a good ride.
  12. I was At the Hi for that storm. Not by choice we were going over Val in To septils no good. Came back down and stayed. I was having trouble with a 152 track with 2 inch paddles. Same storm created a drift on the back side of the hotel that went over the mall roof. I believe that was the same storm that blew a train off it's track on a bridge in QC city.
  13. Bill that is a person not for them selves but for the sport. They are a good dealer. Sent you the info for 2 pass let me know if you have any trouble Thanks forrest
  14. I like klim choko 2 rema (scott) not at all. To much air infiltration with scott jackets. The wife and daughter like the choko more the fit and the rabbit fur for the daughter is enjoyable. I have never felt cold in Klim leave home at 80 degrees to neg 10 to 40 in 4 hrs never an issue. Cost is more but the quality and durability will off set that over time. Cabelas has the Klim line up now cost is better then direct don't ask me why. Forrest
  15. Hello Karl. Yes touring to myself is saddle bagging. I have ridden every where in Qc but my favorite ride is around Lac Saint Jean. For that I usually ride out of Saint Raymond either to Rel as 22 or up through lac Edward to the Jar-den hotel. Next day lac Jim on. Usually high side through mt valin to the ferry and back down approx 1000 miles in 5 days. With regards to belts you have a spare as well as plugs. If the unit is a 2 stroke oil is on you. Regular were items like you stated are on the dealer. That being said I personally never had one fail ever even when I was riding 5k to 6 k per year. The last 3 years 3k is the norm kids don't tour the same as adults. This year will start at the Rabaska lodge Dec 27 to Jan 5 wife and kids. I will be trying some thing new this year I will be back towing the sleds and trailer to Plattsburgh storing the trailer in a secure fenced facility 40 bucks per month and the air port has free parking (unlimited). From their you can be in Saint donaot in 2.5 hrs or saint Raymond in 3.5 or Vt in 2 hr (island pond). More options if the snow is slim. I don't think your going to save your still going to drive likely still going to own sleds at home and possibly a trailer so the cost is minimal at best. Flying save a days drive each way so you can work more. I fly out of Orlando to Plattsburg for 60 to 80 dollars up usually less coming home. Leave around noon and I'm on the trail for dinner. I like starting the year on the west side shorter drive from the cabin in Drift wood Pa. 450 miles to the hotel North bay Ont is approx the same less then 8 hrs. Hope this helps your thoughts Forrest
  16. Good morning. I have done it both ways. Living in Florida it is particularly difficult. I store the sleds in north west Pa and truck. Move them north around Dec 27 for the season. Over the years I have found that leaving the truck and sled on location and flying works the best. Perhaps you should research this option as well. It is cheep er then you driving up from Pa by far if you go more then one time. With regards to the quality of sled rented units is touch and go at best. I like to tour so the set up on the rentals wont work for us owning is the best you know what you have and dont risk a blown trip on others equipment. This is a sport you wont finacally ever win in it just boils down to what risk for your trip your willing to take I.M.O Good luck Forrest
