  1. Viper I see you talking about resevations at The Universal, does it book up often or are you just being safe? We are going up there sometime in Feb. dont know the date yet. Hope to start from there. I know its always safe to make reservations but if you are like us and cant really plan on a solid date its hard to.

  2. My Dad and I are going to give it a shot and try Gaspe' again.(no snow last year) We are looking to leave from RDL. Some time ago we had read about a good place to leave the truck. I have looked and can't find the post on here. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  3. Well not such a good day today for us. We left Amos and about thirty miles into our ride my recoil rope decided to come out. So now we are in Seneterre for the night. Ski doo dealer up the street opens at 8:30 so should be back on trails by 10 I hope. 93 from Amos to here is great as usual. Just talked to some guys from St Jean area and they said trails from there were good.

Some one asked about the trail from Swisha (rapids de jochims) 386 is good. 100 miles from there to Lavendrye. Didn't see one sled on are way up. But there were a few at Lavendrye

  4. We are in day two of our ride. We started in Swisha ( rapid de jochims) and rode up 386 to Lavendrye then across to Ville Marie. Trails there were ok but busy. From VM to Rouyn was good but still busy. Rouyn to Amos via 83 then 307. 83 good but 307 beat. We did pass the groomer headed out when we got to Amos. So far we have 450 miles on. I will post more when I can later. Oh yeah LOTS of snow!!!!!!!!

  5. I am not sure that Ican help you map a trip but I found it kind of funny that you are going to the Val Dor area because my dad and I were planning to go to Gaspe this year also and are now planing to go to Abitibi/Temis area instead. We are leaving from the Thousands Islands and going up to Rapids De Jochims and ride from there. If you have never been around Val Dor area I will tell you that is a great area and you won't be disapointed.

  6. Thanks for the info guys. Maybe looking to western Quebec this year. Have been there for the last five years and have good riding. Was hoping to get to ride Gaspe this year but maybe it'll have to wait.

    Sorry Dad!!!!!

  7. So i have heard Feb. is the busy time in Gaspe which is no surprise. I am just curious as to HOW busy are we talking about? Will the trails be packed with sleds, (I find that hard to believe whith the size of the trail system),are the trails going to be in bad shape, is it going to be hard to find rooms for the night. Keep in mind that we are planning to be there form Saturday to Friday so most of our trip is during the week not the weekend.

  8. My dad and I are planning a trip to Gaspe' in early Febuary. Anyone have any sugestions? Must see things, places to stay, good places to eat..... We are coming from Northern NY and wiil cross the border at the Thousand Islands Bridge and head up from there. Dad has been looking at Montogomy as a starting point. Anyone know of a good place to leave the truck? Or maybe another town close to there that may be better? Any sugestions?

    Thanks David.

  9. Three of us went up and unloaded in Chapaue (across the river from Pembroke Ont.) on Sat.2/12/11. Rode from there to Swisha on TQ43 for gas then the 386 to Lac Joncas. Great trail! Spent the night in Joncas. Very expensive but a great experience. Day two we rode west on TQ63 to New Liskard Ont. for the night. And as always a good stay at the Waterfront.Day three left NL and rode in fresh snow on TQ83 to Rouyn-Noranda and stayed at the Alpine whitch is also very nice. Day four we went up through LaSarr on TQ93 and then east to 309 and down to Val-dor and stayed at the Continental. Also a nice place to stay. Day five we rode down the 386 to TQ63 and west to Le Domaine. Not a bad place to stay for the money. Day six we rode TQ 63 headed for Manawaki and talked with some people that talked about the rain an warm weather so we decide to go back to the truck by way of 308. Well 308 was not well marked at all and we ended up at The Black Rollaway for the night. Great people there and was a great place to stay. We had our own cabin for #125. Day seven we new we had to make it to the truck. We rode TQ13 to 311 and ended up riding 18 miles of dirt rode before we got to any snow again. Once we got to TQ43 it was not in very good shape as we headed west until we got near Fort Coulange and then it was fair. The problem of course was the warm weather. All in all we had a really good ride minus the last day! I can't wait for next year!!!!

  10. I have a contact near Timisqeming that tells me they need more snow in the V-M area. We are planing a trip through there Feb 12 through Feb 19. Just curious what other peoples opinions are. I realize we still have a few weeks abd alot can happen in that amout of time. Thanks for any reports or sugestions.
