Would be nice if this could happen in April vs during March-Or at least until after we ride there on 3/23, 3/24.

  4. back from grooming !!not the greatest ''ribbon ''.snow was ''stiff '' to cut.there was a lot of ''marbles '' on the trail.

slept only 2 hrs !!ha!!ha!!woke up at 11 hrs 27 mins last night !!started at 1 15 am. :(

on the way back,on that long straight few miles west of ste marguerite,at the bottom of the hill, met scorpionbowl and nh-moose !!

thanks for stopping !!awesome day for you to ride !!

ps:on their pics, you can see a few ''waves '' on the trail.it s not because i groomed the drag up in the air .the trail has been plowed a few weeks back and with the rain few days ago,did nt help !!

    thanks for your understanding !!ha!ha!!

trail was still an 8-8.5 not to say 9 ,only a few bumps !!

  5. I was at RDL yesterday morning (Friday)and it looked pretty bleak around the hotel. People who rolled in to RDL on Thursday night coming from Rimouski said trail 5 was bad. And it was horrible the last few miles getting to the hotel.

I had to head home as the wife has a bad bug, and driving from RDL towards QC, didn't look too good.

However, from Montgamy down to (almost) St. George it looked like mid winter conditions. Appeared they did not get much rain, got a few inches of snow, trees were coated with snow, trails looked great and lots of sleds using them. So I am guessing the middle area of Chaudierre, Bas St. Laurent and Gaspe may be still excellent riding. Beace/St George to Maine border had lots of thin spots.

    Just an FYI.

    Thanks for the update Mike

  6. Keep the updates coming as we need to know how the trails are holding up in the Amqui area. As we have a trip planned for later this month.

Hoping that the trails hold up good- I know groomer will do his best on TQ5-we plan to do most of our riding in his area.

  7. hi speedy !!

for now ,i m not afraid at all !!just a few drops after supper.almost nothing.

if it s cold enough tonight,i hope for at least for -5c .i ll be on tq 5 grooming.

when the snow is too wet ,not interesting grooming.can carry the same snow in the drag for miles and miles.its not a grooming job, ''patching '' one if i can say that.boring grooming in those conditions!!

    groomer !!!

    Good to hear!

As the temps look to get colder-during the next 2 weeks.

    groomer !!!

Hope the trails stay in great shape as we're planning on being there on 3/22

  9. so heres the update, 2pm and they were announcing rain up in our area..... no rain so far so thats good, its +5 and all is great. In the next few days the weather should fall back to normal temps -5 to -10 so i guess this will only help to harden the base, we've got about 40'' right now so we'll be good while. I know some areas are starting the rummors about closing for the season because of the conditions, were up here anyway and our friends out there know that i will post the conditions and i will post the right conditions....so enjoy the rest of the season. Write should you need other info. and i'll try and help. :good:

Where are you in the Gaspe? What are the rumors of some areas closing early for the season-what areas?

This is an odd rumor-as the Gaspe is pushing 4ft of snow-why would anyone want to loose business and end the season early?

  10. Hey Groomer-

We're coming back to ride in the Gaspe(Amqui)on 3/22-3/25 hoping the weather stays cooler-looks like a small warm up tomorrow-then back to cooler temps.

I would think with 4ft of snow-trail conditions should be good for this timeframe-will you still be grooming on a regular basis?

  13. When I drove down through that area this past Friday, snow conditions looked okay, got a lot better east and NE of St. George. But trails from the border were groomed. Also people who sledded from St. George area to where I was in Riviere du Loup said trails were good.

    mike

    Thanks for the update Mike!

Is there a way after your cross the Jackman border on trail 75 to connect with 545-before you reach the "hill"

Also-how is the "hill" icy-hard packed?

    Thanks again

  14. Caught a fresh groom yesterday, 75 to 545 to 55 to Pamphile, 334, excellent day, came back through Etchemin, trails were a little beat, bring on the groomers :drinks:

How much snow is there on 55 to Pamphile and overall how were the conditions as you went towards Pamphile? I rode 75 last weekend from Jackman-was good riding after the border however snow was thin to the 1st clubhouse. I was thinking that Etchemin would be okay? However the more towards Pamhile and further east would be the best?

    Thanks!

  15. Met Groomer at the clubhouse today! Took a ride towards PALC on TQ5-overall trails were great-was windy last night with new snow-very windy and cold today-we had some good snowdrifts on the open fields. Saw 20 plus sleds today-this was alot more than we saw yesterday in Matane.

Have a great time in the Gaspe!
