  1. It's too bad the guys that develop sleds don't actually give them out to try and listen to the feedback..............we met a guy from Yamaha back in '96 in Quebec, I won't name names, but he's a big shot now and he was such an authority on everything it's not surprising the sleds come through out of whack. The Nytro is 80% great sled 20% unridable, not a great combination. It's that 20% that will hurt you................ Note the model of sled in the picture......we were all going the same way when we started.................

So what's with the guy on his knees, is he praying or pissing! :drinks:

  2. Well, you can ride out of the HI in Jonquiere. We rode toward Mt Valin and discovered a few reroutes that are not yet well marked.

The first one is between the two bridges, so be carefull as it snakes around the construction site.

The second is in Shipshaw, and you need to take the path on the left and loop out and around, I wish I could tell you exactly where. The blockage is right at the restaurant/road crossing with the sign that has the Elk in the sign. The bypass is about a 1/4 mile before the road crossing.

Unfortuanatly the motor in my Mach has passed on to Warrenty land and were only able to log 50 miles. We are heading home tomorrow.

    Later

    Gutz

How many miles on your mach? I just had a new crank, pistons and cylinders and exhaust valves done on my 07" at 6500 miles, thankfully under warranty, will have it back on monday.

  3. I've read on the Québec board that scierie 54 is closed and it looks like no gas would be available.I will try to get a hold with the appropriate resources within the area and find out what will be the situation for the upcoming season.

........heading up upon the trails this weekend to install signage. :drinks:

Is that the small gas station/conveniance store just off the railbed? I think that was the only time I turned the bars for 100 miles LOL

  4. Here's an easy one:

    Gutz,

I think we may have been there the same day! :drinks:

Well I can't get the pic to load but it looks like the same day with blue skies and the red tent with the outdoor barbecue, it was March 24 of 07", I don't know why the pic won't load?

  5. In late March or early April. It depends on the snow melt.

Regarding for The Massif du Sud, last year I made my last ride on May 5, 2007.

    SB 2006 :hi:

    Thanks,

We'll be heading to Riviere-du-Loup on Monday for 5 day's. Next year I have to check out your area, the pix's look great.

from matane to the clubhouse , between 50 and 60 miles ,max !!! if you stop long enough there, ask the waitress to call me .no problems if i go there only for a few mins.i live 8 miles from the clubhouse .

i don t expect grooming til wed or even thursday night depending of the weather .

We should be there some time on Wed, hopefully we'll catch ya for a beer! maybe I'll finally get a picture of a moose! :drinks:

  8. br guy came home and i lose my concentration ,still asleep !!! ha !! ha !!!!

he met tourists arriving from carleton at the clubhouse saturday and they told him that the nicest part of tq 5 was '' our ''.

also '' IF '' we have that storm later this week ,probably better wait a few more days before coming up here .

and can t believe trails were that rough ,it has been cold ( -20..-25 c ) all nights last week and trails were very hard packed .

if it s your first time in the gaspesie ,you could call patsy in chandler : 1 877 202 4636 .she receive all the calls from the clubs when it has been groomed in the gaspesie .

    -4c , right now !!!

    groomer !!!

Thanks for the input groomer, me and a buddy are heading up early in the morning tomorrow, the rest of the crew on Wed, we'll head your way on wed from Matane to check out your trails! maybe we'll run into you along the way, what trail is the clubhouse on? And how far from matane are you? The weather, I guess we can't do anything about it! :drinks:

  9. Hi groomer, Five of us are supposedly heading to Matane this Tues or Wed for a four day ride, first time in the gaspie! On another forum a guy from Ontario just got back from there and said it was terrible! wants to get his money back from his trail pass. Said it was good from RDL to matane but the rest was crap! huge moguls on Tq5 most of the way, any info on lack of grooming? they took the tq5 around the entire peninsula then back to RDL. I don't want to drive 12 hours for bumpy trails. I know your section would be great! But we'll be going from Matane to murdochvillle to perce Mont st Pierre back to matane any info would be great! :drinks:

  10. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm............. Thanks for the feedback. Either some of you are delicate (which I doubt) or this place is a little on the ugly side.

    Jackstraw,

May cross your path. Leaving Bernieres march 1 and going clockwise, RDL, St Annes des Monts, (at this point in time) Gaspe, La Cache, Trois Pistoles and back to Bernieres. Group of 3 with 07 black Yamadoo RTX, 06 black 800X and an 08 XP which could be orange or multi color after an ongoing repair.

    As always, be safe.

Greg, we''ll be leaving matane on the 28th heading to Murdochville, than to Perce, Mont St pierre and back to matane! There will be 6 ofus all on Doos, a mach Z, 600 renegade 2 GSX's and a 800 rev we'll keep an I out! Definatly can't wait as this is the first time in the Gaspie! :drinks:

  11. Starting a Gaspe loop begining march 1 and I'm looking for a few details on this place. I'm sure it's probably a wonderful place. I just want to be sure that i'm not headed for a dog house with a caribou skin bed and gas by the bucket. Food? showers? Any info or experiences would be appreciated.

I'm also heading to the Gaspie for the first time Feb 27, I did a search and Relais la cache got responses from people like, chicken coop, smells, stop for fuel only, so I personally wouldn't stay there myself. :drinks:

  12. Looking for a good starting point for a week of riding in this area. Need safe parking and decent lodging. Any response would be helpful.l

There is no secure parking in either of those 2 towns, your better off starting off farther South, We usually start out at Auberge Mekinack at the bottom of the 355, about 60 miles South of La Tuque, Secure Parking, bar restaurant, and the qwner Richard speaks good english :drinks:

  13. Personally I think 83 going W was more desolate than 93 from Chig to LSJ...93 before Chib has some lonely stretches also... The highway that is ALWAYS there adds some comfort...

There was a highway along there? When we rode that stretch it was snowing hard the whole way still managed to not drop below 70, it's weird, the snowflakes start playing tricks on you after about an hour at that speed and limited visability and not turning the handlebars for an hour. We didn't pass an oncoming sled from Parent to Chibougamu and about haly way to St Felician almost 500 miles! :drinks:

  14. We did that loop last year leaving from Auberge Mekinack on the river, took 360 to 345 stayed at repos, took local trail North through Casey to tq83 towards Sennettere, stayed at lac fallon, rode from there to Chibougamu, rode 93 to st Felician, than back to Mekinack, I beleive it was about 1150 miles, the only place we felt uncomfortable was Chibougamu, the hotel we stayed at had a garage for the sleds, some strange guys hanging around the hotel bar asking for money and stuff, just didn't seem right! Other than that it's a great loop! The ballet was across the street from the hotel :drinks:

  15. my Polaris modular is about 4 years old, never have an issue with fogging, the only time I need to plug in is below 0, just came back from Quebec 2 weeks ago and the temp never got above -15f during the day and with it plugged in no problems. i dont use the mouth piece either.
