  1. I posted yesterday morning. After that, I watched the news about NJ and NY and was thinking to myself...this storm is really nothing here. Its really not even news.

Now I am very sad to report....one of our hydro workers died at 10am and thankfully not one of my boys. It was nonetheless a very very tough call...I had just listened to the sirens (not knowing he died two blocks from me) and though they must have brought in every emergency service in Sarnia!

    Dead, touched the wrong wire.

Lots of training, safety meetings, years of service...just a mistake.

Just became a grandpa, one daughter still in high school. Gone. And the worker with him will never be the same.

Still lots of power to restore out here and now a devastated group to finish up.

Life is precious, can be too short and yes...we all say 'be careful' and all that...but I for one, don't really pay much attention. This accident was way too close to me. I got the call and felt that 'oh my God' panic.

BE CAREFUL and HUG EVERYONE TODAY!

    Linda

    Linda,

My thoughts and prayers go to the utility worker's family. That shouldn't have happened and am sorry to hear of it.

  2. Wind started picking up around 9 this morning and the rain began around 1 this afternoon. Too bad this isn't snow.

Work closed their offices and I'm home working on a couple of projects in the shop.

Think I'll throw a 6 pack in the fridge. Hey Jean Guy, is that trailer fixed yet? Need to get rid of a couple of bottles!

  3. Hey John,

I was leaking green blood right there in Lc Eduard. That's when I hit that piece of firewood that was laying in the middle of the trail dropping down from LSJ.

Crazy driver of that pickup also. Drove fast as hell on slippery roads. Ice Road Truckers!! LOL

Are you heading up to the gathering Jan 18th & 19th?

That lake must be cursed.... Same place where my engine cold seized.

  4. You got that right Jim. When was the last time you ever heard of a piston replacement in a Yamaha??

Had to do that on my Yamaha... Its quite common.

Engine had 400 hours on it and the mechanic felt it was due... Valves were just starting to go out of tolerance. Keep in mind, this was off of my 660 thumper....

  5. This happened on the last day of a multi day ride, heading back from Lac St Jean. Believe it occurred on Lac Eduard (JG, please correct me) right after lunch.

After our lunch break, ripped across a lake and my engine went bang.... needless to say, the tow back was interesting since it was 90 miles to a gas station, being pulled by Jean Guy's Apex... post-1155-0-69429300-1346731258_thumb.jpg

A cold seized engine, lean out due to a bad seal on the engine. Covered under warranty, sled was only a couple of months old and had around 1800 miles in it. Was riding again a week after dropping off the sled.

  6. This one is from 2005. A couple seasons ago I asked where the Wolverine went, the lady said the old owner took it with them when the place changed hands. The place is........?

(Iceman, Scorpion-Bowl, Playhard, FloridaSnowman are not allowed to answer - LOL).

    Lac Du Repos.

  7. I need to find a lot of things. I was bored. What up mike. !!!

    Think Snow. Lol.

Hey John. Enjoying the summer and keeping busy at work. Not much time for anything else. Not that I'm complaining about working... Next project I get in Ontario, I'll find a place to have my picture taken. Maybe I'll find something in Quebec...

    How have you been???

  8. Thank you for the post. Figured they would extend the deadline to something after December 12.

Didn't want to pay a permit fee and have the world end...LOL

And Ontario buyers get the insurance money back!! Yahooo!! And when can we buy our permits?

How do you get the insurance money back?

  9. I stick to Pittsfield & Roctober & sometimes bootleg the Hinsdale powerlines. Beartown is weird mix of gnarl & roads so it's hard to bring novices & hard to stay on the "designated" trails. We lost Tolland to the DCR for the same reason, now they just allow street legal dirt bikes.

I miss Tolland. Nice riding. Hated it the first time and somehow, liked the challenge after the second time.

Picture heading into in what we refer to the "Cherokee pit" on my first time riding there... good times...

    David,

Don't recall Bill. Which department did he work in? Spoke to another "Hipo" employee and he thinks Bill could have been in Epoxy. Will have to look into this.

  11. Close call! That hillclimb by the Skyline/Jiminey powerlines gets gnarlier each year. But the climb pic is in October Mtn forest in the clearing by Washinton Mt Rd & County Rd. They do kinda look alike. The submarine pic is in Pittsfield forest up north of Balance Rock (thank goodness for the electric winch). I try to quad around there as much as possible between Easter & Thanksgiving to keep my sled thumb in good condition!

Trick question! Saw the image north of Balance rock and thought PSF. The hill climb looked familiar, but since I never rode Rocktober, that park never came to mind. Have you tried Beartown?

I might have to renew my registration in Mass. Although, I hate the new tags the riding is worth it.
