  1. Couldn’t have said it better. I’ll stick with something that has never let me down. Also on third one. If BRP would have kept the upper vent in and added a nice chin skirt and light on the back of the modular 3 it would be the best helmet ever made for sledding.
  2. I second that on Valga . Actually used the place to launch from years ago and left our truck there for 4 days.
  3. A BIG X2 Jackstraw. I’m on my third modular helmet as well and they have NEVER let me down with fogging, EVER there is plenty I don’t like about the helmet but worrying/having fogging will never be one of them. Gutz I’m glad its working out for you and I’m sure in ways it’s an awesome helmet. I tried one on at the Syracuse show. I just couldn’t take the chance of the power cord or source breaking and leaving me F**ked out in the bush. I even desperately tried to get the BV2 to work for me when it came out as it has way better features/functions than a modular but sadly it didn’t work out in the end.
  4. Tell the rest of the story smclelan. Heard it was “stinky”
  5. I remember years ago ( like 20 something) there was this middle aged chick (from Pa I think) called “Roxanne the Rocket” she used to hang up on Tug Hill and did some crazy shit. Well she must have had a bug up her ass or someone triple dog dared her to see if she could break the world record for female most miles on a snowmobile in 24 hrs. If my memory serves me correctly at the time it was some girl (Sylvie something) from Cochrane Ontario I believe who held the record and it was like 500-600 miles ish Barrows Sled shop on Tug Hill sort of sponsored her and provided ground support while she did loop after loop of the Talbots Corners rail trail area. I think somewhere around the 400 mile mark in the wee hours they ripped her suspension out and replaced it in like 15 min. i don’t think she wound up beating the record but gave it a damn fine attempt. If anyone (male or female) was going to get a world record 24 hr mileage run Cochrane and surrounding areas would sure be the place to do it. Widest, flattest fastest trails I have ever ridden bare none.
  6. Pretty sure his gauges were set to KM ive lived in and rode NY my entire life and I think I’m gonna call BS on that one
  7. Shouldn’t be an issue. See a whole bunch there all the time.
  8. It should go back 10 dollars at a time to every American who has had a sled/truck/trailer ripped off over the years. ✌️
  9. The Senneterre club updated a report yesterday that some small rivers between there and Lebel-sur-Quévillon are thawed and that’s why the trail is not interconnected. Who knows when they will deem safe. On the bright side when we went through there yesterday morning it was -10F
  10. That’s a good question. Right now or at least until someone finds out what the deal is with connecting Senneterre/Quevillon together. My opinion is (and we just left Quevillon this morning to drive home) I wouldn’t start any lower than Senneterre. Louvicort has less snow for sure and didnt look that great. Swung in LeDomaine and less snow and zero activity in what was probably 8-10” on the trail. Had breakfast at the Classic and again less snow and zero activity there as well.
  11. Here’s what I do know about that. I made contact with several people about the east side trail from Matagami down to Lebel and it will not be open till approx. end of January. Many branches and a lot of work needs done. My buddy and I ran up it a couple miles last Thursday from the ‘Y” junction sennetere split where the sign says Matagami 145km and bailed as no other tracks and it looked bad. We really wanted to hit it as that’s awesome trail when good. i see they groomed all the way from Desmairville to quevillon 60 miles just after my buddy and I ran it last night. i can’t recommend ENOUGH that if anyone can get to the north part of 93 as soon as possible you will be rewarded with some of the best conditions Quebec has to offer. Gas in Desmairsville is not from cans anymore as they have an above ground tank now. 2 bucks a litre and it’s super unleaded. Gas also at the end of the feeder trail in Waswanapi. Happy Trails
  12. We went down the 93 towards Senneterre back on Thursday morning. It was beautiful and fresh groomed. I think we only went down 15 miles give or take and only turned around because we were heading north. I have since seen as I’m sure you have that they only groomed down about 24 miles worth. Don’t know why or if it’s possible to connect through.
  13. Alright last trip pic. We are back at Lebel-sur-Quévillon and heading home early a.m. Ending the trip a day early because of what you see here in this picture. It was enough to have my buddies and I bungholes puckered up for 80 miles. Right around the junction to Waswanapi my buddy blows a belt on his 1200 enduro that has less than 1000 miles on it. When I circled back he had belt crap all over and was still digging it out. Problem was a bunch got wound up behind the clutch and spun around the driveshaft. The motor would not turn over when we tried to start it. It literally took us a half hour to get the multiple pieces off. I must have jinxed us and said “I hope the seal is o.k. We started it and guess what.....a half cup of oil poured down into the chassis. This is the point that I let out the loudest F bomb ever produced by man. I’m thinking man....this is not the place for this kind of shit to happen. Well we cleaned out the oil and let it run for a bit and it didn’t seem too bad. Leaking yes but not real bad. Pushed on to desmairville and got to the store for a much needed break warm up. Nancy and her husband are great folks. We had to make a decision at this point to try and push on the 60 miles back to Lebel-sur-Quévillon or I was going to have to ride by myself (dark and sub zero Fahrenheit) to get the truck and bring it back. We decided to buy oil and give it a wack. We stopped every 10 miles or so to check it. It was slowly getting worse but the level was only down to the add level and hanging in there. Made it back and hi fived each other in the parking lot. as us snowmobiler’s know ...”it’s always an adventure “...... the important part is no one got hurt and we had a blast on the trip. 3 days, 650+ miles, FANTASTIC trails, great conditions/accommodations/food. We only saw a dozen or less sleds the whole trip and that was all around Chibougamau yesterday. Now we will be home a day early and the wives will be happy. It truly was one of if not the best Christmas week rides I have ever had. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL !!!!!!!
  14. Caught the groomer after Chapais (he was heading east to Chapais from Desmairville. We broke her virginity for 42 miles
  15. Coming out of Chapais this morning heading west
  16. Yes and the 93 from Waswanapi to Chapais has some reroutes with a lot of those sticks too. Annoying little bastards they are. we are heading back now towards Lebel-sur-Quévillon. Might even stop in Waswanapi again today. Here is a pic taken just now of a side street here in Chapais. Oh btw....haven’t seen another American since we got to Lebel-sur-Quévillon on Wednesday afternoon.
  17. At the PFK last evening in Chibougamau we met a guy and his son outside that were leaving. They were headed back to Mistissinni (trail closed from there from Chibougamau and NOT doable). This guy “Tim” was Indian and owned an electrical company that does work for the mines up there. We had a great 15 min. Chat and when he went to leave he reached in his truck and said I got something for you guys. I thought out would come a hat from his company or something. He gave me and my buddy these two Indian crafts. The bird is made out of Tamarac wood. Over the years I have met Quebec aboriginals from all areas, especially the Cree. They are GREAT people. 5 years ago I had the chief (Marcellus) from Waswanapi drive me and a broken down snowmobile 100 miles to meet my buddies. If you don’t know about or are aware of the “residential school project” that happened in Quebec years ago you should do a quick read on it. It was a TRAVESTY.
  18. yeti, we went down 93 the 93 towards LSJ yesterday about 20-25 miles and it was good until it turned into all powder. We came upon a guy in a cabin and he pointed LSJ way and said “trail closed”. He said scerie 54 was still about 60 miles. Sorry I can’t help you more. If you try it make sure you have a saw.
  19. We stayed two nights here at the Hotel Opemiska. 500ft from the trail and it has great accommodations, girl (Isabelle) speaks perfect English. Has huge kitchen area with all kinds of good continental breakfast type stuff (you can even fry up a couple eggs if you want) we stayed in room #1 on the lower basement level. It’s a HUGE apt type with 3 separate bedrooms plus a big living room kitchen/dining room with another queen bed. Private bath in apt also. You could have 4 guys stay in it and each have their own separate bedroom (SNORING).....LOL....cost for 4 guys 150.00. She charged me and my buddy 125.00 and the internet ROCKS and works good enough to make voice over IP calls. And the Petro Canada is 100ft away, you really couldn’t ask for a better place to stay. Snowmasters rating = 9.5
  20. Somewhere around Chibougamau......
  21. Back in Chapais for the night and yes we went down the 93 towards LSJ about 25 miles. Groomed BTW....until it stopped out on some culdesac. Carried on from there on pow pow until we came to a cabin with some Frenchies. They said closed so we turned around. Popped off another 200+ today in/around Chibougamau. That trail that goes like 20 something miles to the west of Chibougamau and connects back to the 93 is INSANE. My buddy and I hit it this a.m. fresh groomed with 3” on top. Throughout the day we hit it at least 4 more times. Saw about a dozen or so sleds all day. Here is a pic this morning getting near Chibougamau. First tracks all the way from Chapais.
