  1. You actually can use an expired passport for entry. I would have never thought that myself but several times last year my wife and I went to Canada without knowing hers had expired almost a year before. Both times the agents just asked the regular questions and then said "ma'am just letting you know your passport has expired" I looked it up somewhere on the net when I got home that a passport (expired or not) is always a form of identification. Might not want to try this taking a flight to Europe but just saying it worked for us twice with land travel into Canada and back to USA with no problem
  2. 6000.1 thats some funny shit. What a number. Good for you Andy !!! Must be nice to be retired. I had 3100+ until my sled grenaded between Amos and Matagami in the begining of March. Made for an interesting rest of the trip. At least the bill was on BRP's checkbook and not mine....LOL... Have a great summer and the best to you, Lisa & Andrew Chris
  3. I can't speak from experience but for what' it's worth I have read several times that they have problems leaking and guys find that they dont adjust them often and that they are "in their way" on the running boards. man they sure do look the "bling" though.........
  4. Yeah but the new grocery store in town is nice and THE ONLY place I have ever seen in Quebec that had Michelob Ultra single cans for sale in the cooler !!!! Heading up to Le Domaine today and running the Abitibi all week. A GREAT day to start my birthday today !!
  5. I remember hearing that awhile back. I think we will get us some of that yummy soup!!!!!!
  6. thanks all. We should be good as the three of us all can make 125 miles confidently as long as we are not pushing 6+ inches of snow.
  7. Does anyone know the exact mileage from Le Domiane up to the Indian town south of Valdor. Heading up tomorrow and don't know if we should get gas in the park or not. TIA
  8. This is almost uncomprehendable. Who in the F#$k could possibly be that stupid ? Lord knows I have done some stupid shit in my time ( Andyman can verify...LOL) but this absolutely takes the cake !!! Wait till they try and file a claim with their insurance companies and they tell them to "pound salt".
  9. Sounds like "Meekos" is where you want to go. They have everything you mentioned and have 5 star food. The bar in the lodge is big and beautiful. Not sure how to get there but it is north of Mt Laurier and shouldn't be more than 4 hrs from Ottawa.
  10. I gotta call "bullshit" on this one Jack........
  11. I have run that trail 5 or 6 times from Le Reine to Cochrane though it's been many years now. From what I remember it was 100+ miles of "a lot of nothing" and pretty much straight as "pool cue" . I also remember not paying attention or fiddling with my GPS and almost going "off trail" down over one of those old railroad bridges. I remember thinking....if I had biffed it that I would need to call in a "Chinnook" helicopter to get me and the sled out. LOL...
  12. Andy, Are you not getting a little too old for CRAZY adventures like that...LOL...LOL. Glad it went o.k. and didnt make the night in the field up near LSJ years ago look like a walk in the park. Chris
  13. There is also a REAL nice lodge/restaurant in Ouje-Bougoumou that I stayed at a couple years back. Great rooms and great food !! Here is a picture of the breakfast I got there. (cant believe I found it)
  14. I agree with the above posts. I ate there in December and it was awfull and over priced !!
  15. SRSChang, Might be at or near the Barage or on the trails near by on monday too. Look out for 3 of us on Skidoo's...two Renegades and a shortie. Chris
  16. Hope your "adventure" goes well today!!!! Read that you guys were at the "22" last night. Where did you ride in from and how we're the trails after the warm up ???
  17. Here is a pic from yesterday about 20 miles out from Mattawin heading towards the Repos on the upper M20 trail Trails north to Kanawata from Repos were not done as of two days ago.
  18. 3500 miles for me. All in Quebec. None in New York where I usually get 1,000-1,500 in. Terrible year in the states for snow. The miles in Quebec were all pristine though !!!
  19. X3 Carried an Ipad2 all season with no problems. Besides all the benefits GKW points out you can take your SD card out of your camera at the end of the day and watch your vids and pics on the IPad.
  20. I have used a Garmin Zumo for the last 3-4 yrs and love it. It too is made for motorcycle use and is water/temp proof. I have used it in all Quebec conditions and never had any trouble. I have the Quebec trail maps loaded and it's sooooooooooo..nice !!!! Has a nice big touch screen, built in MP3 player and picture viewer via the SD card slot. I can be cruising down the trail listening to tunes while photo's of my loved ones scroll thru the slideshow. The unit's buttons were designed to work even with gloves on and for the most part that works great.
  21. Rode the 63 from Bellettere all the way thru to La Domaine exactly one week ago tonight ( the 16th) and it was MINT !! The entrance to Joncas had snow all pushed up against it like they didnt want anybody in there. Gas at the outfitter 9 miles off the trail was 2.00/litre !!!! He was FULL on a thursday night. The cafeteria closes at 8 pm at Domaine and the gas about 9:00-9:30. Stayed in the bunkhouse this time at Domaine instead of the cabins across from the cafeteria on the hill. The bunk house is about a 1/2 mile down the road to the south next to a couple other buildings. 37.50 per guy. VERY similiar to Relais 22 setup but nicer IMO.
  22. May the king of "ringy dang doo" rest in peace!!!!
  23. I have purchased 4 sleds in Canada but it has been quite a few years as the exchange is not favorable anymore. I HAD to pay the GST/PST tax every time and then re-apply for it after bringing it home and sending in the paperwork showing that I imported it into the US. The GST & PST were two seperate places and you have to wait 4-6 weeks to get a check from them. No import fee bringing a sled into the US (at least not back then) and they just verify your purchase receipts and fill out a quick form and give it to you. Happy Trails Gutz !!!
