The Hotel Sagunneene...It looks very nice but how safe are the sleds there? I think its close to the La Cage Aux Sports and if I recall there were some thefts there last year? We have always stayed at he Delta, is there an advantage to staying at the Hotel Sagunneene?
Also can you take the bridge in Chicoutimi accross to Monts Valin or do you have to go over the dams in Jonquerie?

Thanks I actually ride out of the Delta quite often. I hate crossing the two dams as the ride is always a pounding in and out. There is another bridge in Chicoutimi that is called the Dubuc bridge and it may be refered to as the Aluminum Bridge. It had a fire back in 2013. It has a two local trails near by on both sides. So I was curious if the bridge was open and open to snowmobiles.....

Hello, I know they closed the bridge in 2013. Did it ever reopen? Can you cross the bridge on a snowmobile? Is there anyway to cross the river besides shipshaw?

Snowmobilers who venture into the Gaspésie trails will be able to refuel at the Relais de la Cache located on Route 299, halfway between Sainte-Anne-des-Monts and New-Richmond.
From January 20 until April 2, snowmobilers will have access to the gas station at Relais de la Cache between 9 am and 5:30 pm "The goal was to avoid a break in services at one location Hinge for snowmobilers. Le Relais is located in the heart of the most popular trails in the region, "explains Richard Marin, SADC general manager of Haute-Gaspésie, who oversaw the project from the beginning. A tripartite agreement to this end was recently concluded between the new owner of the Relais, the Micmac community of Gesgapegiag with the SADC of Haute-Gaspésie and the Association of snowmobile clubs of the Gaspésie.
Since the beginning of the snowmobile trail project in the Gaspé Peninsula, Richard Marin has stated that the Relais de la Cache is a must for snowmobilers for a number of reasons. "There is all the safety aspect because it is an isolated area and there are also the economic benefits for local businesses that benefit from the presence of snowmobilers. "

Although the gas station is operational throughout the winter, it is important to note that there will be no accommodation or catering at the Relais de la Cache. The Mi'kmaq community is planning to work there in 2017. Thus, a trailer will be built on site for the employees who will operate the gas station. If you have an electric shield on the BV2S helmet it will frost up under certain conditions when it is not plugged in. It is different than the regular non electric shield. The electric version has two layers and the non electric is one layer. So for allot of people they can use it with no problem when it is not plugged in. But After awile or in certain conditions it will fog up. It is a fanatastic helmet, I would take Bill's 2 cents he logs the most miles...

I have had the BVS2 for 3 years and it is great. I have the electric shield. For what its worth I think it is a must. While expensive, I am only replacing it this season after many many many miles.

I would like to see DOO supercharge or turbo their 4 stroke. I hear great things about that engine.

Thanks for the comments and I am glad I am not the only one that thinks that perhaps the trail passes are probably not costed with enough to cover proper grooming.
As far as the Z1 Turbo I think your friends were proabably racing a Z1 and not the Turbo. Here is a link to some intertesting information on the December 2010 (last month) American Snowmobiler and Dynotech Shootout. They tested stock sleds and modified. Looks like on the 600 and 800 class the results were all about equal. But take a look at the Artic Cat Z1 Turbo and I think you will be surprised on what you read.

As I have stated before, it works well for me and judging from what I read the Yami's work well for many many people. I see them all over the place in Quebec along of course with Doo. Theone brand which we used to not see much of is Polaris but the last couple of years I think they have been increasing in popularity in Quebec. I heard the new machines are nice.
It is a great sport we have and the way this topic has been handled we have some great posters that can dicuss topics without totally ripping into each other.
Lets hope for cold and snow. I rather be riding.

Well the point is well taken but to be open with you is a nice thing about a blog/board is you can choose to read or respond to what you want to. So if you don't like the post then you can be quiet and move on. I love this board, and too be honest I would just like to see more posts whether machine or condition related. The more posts the more interesting to read and in some ways enjoy. As long as everything is done in a civil and respectful manner I have no problems.

Grease monkey, your comments have brought me to the table...what Arctic Cat turbo are you referring to? The T660? Because the Z1 Turbo is not a anchor by any means and when you make a statement like that it takes away from your other points. Look I ride what I ride because it works for me. I used to ride Doo, and I loved everyone of them. They were reliable, fast, and fun. But the fact is my group rides Arctic Cat and I had the chance to ride a Z1 Turbo and the power, ride, handling was second to none and yes I tried others. But I think the point about about the dealer support is important. My dealer is known as one of the best in the world (Arctic Cat) and what he has shown me I fully agree. Your dealer support is number one when it comes to buying a sled because they all break and it is how your dealer responds and how fast they fix it that sets them apart from others. As far as price well get ready everyone because they all are getting expensive. Part of the reason is the cost to warranty these machines is expensive. the fact that not many sleds are produced so consider tooling and outsourcing of the production of parts. It adds up. As far as Yamis go if it works for you that's great. I think their engines are great and the fit and finish is second to none. I am also different than most here as I think the cost of trail pass is too low. Has anyone else noticed that clubs do not groom as much as they used too? I believe the cost of the trail pass has not increased in line with the actual cost to maintain the trails. When you think about it the cost of the trail pass does not provide enough funds to fuel and support grooming as much as we would like. If the trail price was twice the price and I had the guarantee of grooming each night I would pay it. But hey that's me.

As many of us know there is never up to date or easy to find trail condition information on this area. I know they have been struggling with lack of snow but now the snow map looks a little better. Does anyone know if their trails are now open and how they are? Perhaps there is info on a French site?

It is very hard to sit, wait, and not say something you would regret saying. Very frustrating....It is also hard for Americans to understand as this type of tatic is not used that often here.

Its closed becuase it is a National Park and the Lake was not frozen enough. But I was told the new trail will not be open until next year. I was just there before the big rain storm.

BV2, best helmet on the market. Had a Arctic Cat TXI, which was OK but too heavy and the field of vision is not great. Tried the newer AC modular and had too many air leaks, my friends have the new HJC and it has too many air leaks. It is true that after a long cold ride the BV2 has "juice" dripping out of the breather, I just deal with it. Also, the electric shield can fog a little (but never really bad at all) if the foam seal gets wet at all. I have never tried it with the regular shield but many do and say it does not fog at all.
Good luck, I think the down side is the cost of the BV2 it is really expensive.

Looks like Chaudiere got allot of snow. Gaspe region I hope gets some more soon. Got back from riding around RDL in/out of the Universal on December 31. Conditions were OK, plenty of snow, lack of grooming. If they get out on the groomers the trails would be perfect. I had a chance to break in the new machine.
They need more people like the Groomer!

We were in the Gaspe last week. With the exception of the Amqui-Albertville area and perhaps a little of the 5 around Matane the trails were a complete embarassment. The ride from La Cache to St. Pauline was the worst I have ever seen the trails in Quebec. The highlight was the fantastic food and service outside LaCache at the logging camp. Just so you know we ride only Quebec and we are by no means newbies to riding in Quebec. The Gaspe just has terrible grooming overall with the exception of Amqui-Albertville which is Groomers area and to me my favorite place in Quebec to ride. So many great places to play and ride. I think the problem withthe Gaspe is money, they have such fantastic trails to ride but not enough money to keep the groomers on the trail to make sure they are nice pretty. The other issue is teh amount of traffic and lack of local or regional trails make it difficult.

I was just there. Gas Stop only. It is not a place to stay except in a extreme emergency. It seems to be under a new ownership or management so it does not smell as bad. I still would not eat there.

Hi Switchback nice to see the picture of our home Club House. St. Sabine (Club Mont Bonnet) is where we buy our passes and call our home base, Jane Mercier is great to deal with.
Do you know how the condition is now???

I Just arrive in Lac Etchemin last night and going out in a few minutes. Defenetly looked better as you move east.
But we will have to wait and see when we gop out. Saw a groomer in the distance as we drove down 108 last night. I think it may have been Bauecville actually.
