Nice sled coldsmoke, we were in valin this weekend, were able to get 550 miles on mostly off the maintained trail on the woods roads north of the chappelle, You will love your 1200 , its a great sled.

  2. I broke out my shorts today and took my first outdoor shower of the season. But I would like one more trip north if there is any riding left (preferably less than a 10 hour trip from Boston...).

    Any ideas??

GKW, The riding from Moosevalley New Brunswick, just north east of edmundston, east into the gaspe is still good. Plenty of snow cover and probably a nine hour drive :yahoo:

  3. great visit at the clubhouse this morning while taking my breakfast.waitress advised me that i had visit.so went to see and it was roadrunner !!

thanks again roadrunner for stopping by and say hello .very appreciated !!

    90% chance of a storm tomorrow .6 to 8 '' of snow .

on the second pic ,you can see clearly where the new tq 5 is .can see the truck logging road very clearly and road 132 .old pic .

    groomer !!! :drinks:

Groomer, it was good to see you yesterday morning, We had a nice albeit "chilly" ride back to Maine yesterday, the -45 down temps were interesting to ride in and get the sleds going in the am. I noticed that the logging road in the picture that you posted above is not being plowed this year or was it just since the last storm?

Again , great to see you , good trails all thru the gaspe currently but Groomers are the best. Keep up the good work

  4. The only thing that I wish it had was several levels of emergency response. I wish it has a way of sending text messages you could type in the field. Something like "Out of gas need help soon" vs "injured rider need help NOW"

Can you record messages on the device?

DooBraap, you can record a custom check in message and the help message prior to your departure from your computer.

the check in message is usually something like, we are taking a break, and or in for the night----ect

the help message is usually like ------we need you to send assistance, we are all ok but unable to move for our location due to mechanical breakdown ect

This is the next option down from signaling emergency service

It would be nice for some field features, perhaps that will come.

    Best regards

  5. I picked up a spot locator beacon a few weeks back and this is the real deal. A really cool device that works off satellight- different than other locator systems that require a cell phone signal. It has a help button to contact a prerecorded assistance message to friends, an optional tracking signal that anyone with a computer and your link address can watch your trip progress on a 10 minute basis. With the best safety device of a 911 button that signal their emergency headquarters to contact the closest emergency assistance to your group.

The unit is $150 and the service with the optional tracking beacons service is $150 a year US.

It works great and is a real treat for people interested in the trip you are on but unable to go.

    A nice tool

im wating to see if i could just ride up from fort kent up to the ferry in matane as for what day im leaving it all depends on the condish

    happy trails coldsmoke :drinks:

Coldsmoke, sounds great hope you make it up. You may want to check the conditions in Cote Nord, I know earlier postings talked of a lot of rain damage to the trail network this fall. Particularly if you end up going to godbout in lieu of Baie Comeau and try heading west towards Escoumin, sounded like several bridges were out between godbout and baie comeau

    Happy Holidays

We will be waiting for those pics :clapping:

  8. im on the market for a good camera my easy share died the outher day im looking at a canon power shot sx 110 1s i just nead one to hold up in the cold weather whats everyone on here using

    thanks coldsmoke

Cold smoke , I have real good luck with the Sony Steady Shot, It is compact, nice battery that works well in super cold temps, and takes good pics.

Just make sure what ever you get that it will operate in the cold temps, I know your riding locations well :drinks:

Are you still heading north on friday, pm me with on the details when you have a chance

  9. I would say turn out was so so. Friday night it was great, Sat so so and Sunday was very small. They had about 75 vendors at it, which I thought was good. Feed back from people was pretty good.

Bill I enjoyed seeing you at the MSA show last weekend along with Dblack and ER of team Maine. Snow will be in the area soon.

    Best regards

  10. Thanks for the update groomer, we were heading that direction next week, Those guys have done a great job up there this year, they have been dragging at least since the first week of december this season.

    Hats off to their efforts.

  11. gkw, nice post on the new etec and 4 stroke, I too have the yamaha attak and also an 08 renegade 600. Very satisfied with both, but I have often thought that if I could have the renegade in a 4 stroke -- that would be the sled. I was very interested to see the option listed on the doo sight a few weeks ago. That should be a great package!!.

    again ..nice post
