  1. Toponav maps are the one I use. Work well.
  2. I rode that last friday, 1/15, from Hebertville to St. Raymond. It was the best I remember in some time.
  3. I rode this on Friday 1/15 -- jonquiere to st. raymond. TQ23 was awesome, best I could remember the park. Soup at Mt. Apica was good too!
  4. What time are you leaving tomorrow morning? Maybe we will join you for an attempt around the lake.
  5. A bunch of friends and I snowmobile in QC all the time. This last time we were up, we all agreed how it would be a blast to tear around on some ATV's in the mud up there. Is there a good starting spot for this? Good, fun ATV riding? not looking to to saddle bag trips like we do on sleds, just looking for a spot to have some fun in the woods for a couple days. Pointers welcome!!
  6. When I was in the Gaspe this past winter, I saw a place that rented Can Am Spyder motorcycles. I can't find the name of the place. Anyone know who it is?

  8. I just did this a couple weeks ago. Figure 240 or so. For us (and it was 7 people) we left HI at 8:30 am and arrived Roquemont at 2:30. Trails were awesome. 23 was great. Had lunch at Mt. Apica. Tested my 800 REV's range, I made it from Mt. Apica to Roquemont on one tank, about 126 miles. I did run out of gas pulling the sled into the trailer, heh.
  9. I am wondering if anyone has any information on the following: a) Route 355, north from 73, past Lac Edourd towards Hebertville -- is it open? Is Lac Edourd open? Do they have gas? B) around the lake, 83W to 93E? c) 83 from 3 towards Jonquiere? Thanks for any info at all.
  10. Please let me know where you guys are, and when you are there. I will hide inside, as someone flies by at 110 mph with one hand on the handlebar and the other hand concentrating on a camera. Safety on the trail!
  11. Just curious what happened with all the rain. Any news in for lac-st-jean or quebec or st. raymond or shawinigan or chibougamou...
  12. Hi, Getting ready to plan the first trip. a) does anyone know the deal with Chibougamou? B) anyone know if 355 is open all the way up (section from 73 to 83 via Lac Eduourd) ?
  13. I don't have direct knowledge about 54, but the logging industry in QC is not good and lots of places are shut down.
  14. I was one of the first ones to figure this out. The bottom line is the low pressure pump fails and doesn't fill the high pressure pump resevoir. http://www.dootalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=76678 http://www.dootalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=44433 http://www.dootalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=79724 http://www.dootalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=163527 If you need any thing further on this, ping me and I can help you out.
  15. Where did you get the NB maps? I buy the Garmin power cable, and wire into the same wiring harness that feeds the helmet shield heater.
  16. It's still early. A little rain is to be expected, and isn't a bad thing; it hlpes get a really nice base.
  17. In case anyone wants to know what it looks like in the summer with no snow...
  18. Entire agreed. I've been using a 276c since 04-05 season, and this year I am running a 478 with a XM receiver (for music and weather maps, of course!) http://www.nac.net/photos/IMG_0034.JPG and just to get everyone in the mood: http://www.nac.net/photos/IMG_0241.JPG http://www.nac.net/photos/IMG_1268.JPG If you need advice on mapping, let me know.
  19. Anyone have a copy of the KML they can share since it's not on the FCMQ anymore?
  20. I don't agree. From where I am sitting, it is not the strength of the dollar that is causing this. It is the fact this so-called recession is hitting other economies hard than it is hitting us.
  21. http://finance.yahoo.com/currency/convert?...;submit=Convert A buck USD will now get you $1.25 CAD. Perhaps time to go buy some money now.
  22. I met Bernard for the first time in early 2004. It was my first trip snowmobiling in Quebec ever, and we started at his place. Since that time, I'd stayed at his place, or at least passed through, perhaps 15 or 20 times. Bernard was always a character, as I best could describe. Even at 10pm at night, -20F, he'd come outside and help us unload into the garage with a beer in hand. It was only my last trip up there this past season, in March, where I finally sat down with Bernard for about 20 or 30 minutes and talked about something other than snowmobiling. He had an interesting life story to tell. Did you know he was a miner, and a truck driver (among other things)? He had an interesting life. I for one will miss him, and I suspect the local snowmobile club will suffer. My condolences and thoughts go out to Jocelyn, I hope she is coping alright with this.
  23. Thats what happens when you have competing sites for the same purpose. I've found myself posting to both sites instead of one. Gets kind of old.
  24. I plotted a four day trip. Day 1 - Roberval to Parent, 230 miles. Day 2 - Parent to Lac Faillon, 164 miles. Day 3 - Lac Faillon to Chibougamou, 263 miles. Day 4 - Chibougamou to Roberval, 196 miles. Day 1 - Nothing exciting. Day 2 - Short day, which is good, as Lac Faillon is a wonderful place to stay. Day 3 - 263 miles is nothing as this includes Piston Alley. Day 4 - Nothing exciting, except for getting gas at the logging camp. It's an awesome trip. I've done it twice, and both times I can count the number of sleds I passed on one hand.
  25. When I get home, I will plot a course for you and let you know.
