  1. Interesting info Bob, I sure wish Yamaha would have made the tank just a little bigger though. My '09 Apex GT only has like a 9.2 gal. tank. The last trip to Quebec I went 127 miles and then used 30 liters so I still had over a gollon left, but my sled is def. broke in I have about 6,000 miles on it. Now those miles were not WOT but a nice cruising speed and somewhat soft conditions (It had rained all night and into the morning) I think 145 miles with those conditions would be doable for me in stock form but that would prob. me near max. What is the approx. cost for the clutch upgrade on an Apex and also that '05 Vector if you don't mind my asking?
  2. They are there every day but I think they close pretty early, although I am pretty sure there are people that stay there so in an emergency maybe you could find someone. That used to be a pretty bustling place a few years ago before the economy tanked and the demand for lumber dropped.
  3. How big is the tank on the Renegade?
  4. 54 is the sawmill, I think it might refer to a distance from somewhere like a milemarker
  5. Thanks for the info. just seems crazy that they wouldn't make gas available at Miquelan they had a captive audience there I mean everyone that passed there stopped for gas. I think if I were going that way this year I would carry a gallon with me and stop after 20 miles and dump it in. Used this strategy a few years back when I was running an 800 v-max 4 and needed that just to get to Miquelan.
  6. Great report and pics! Are you sure you had your sled full of gas? That seems really poor gas mileage, I mean I know how that strech sucks gas esp. if there is fresh snow but that seems really poor. Maybe when it's broke in. Did your mileage improve as the week went on?
  7. What ever happend to Yellow Boots, is he still riding? Haven't heard much about him in last few years
  8. more pics This helped alot on this trip
  9. Great pics guys, never had any trouble getting on the ferry will have to keep that in mind.
  10. Yes we are planning our next adventure now. Didn't get sled back yet but dealer told me already they are making good on the chaincase.
  11. At least it sounds like everyone is still moving forward of course your not done yet. Good Luck

  15. Broken clutch spring........
  16. Can anyone help me with downloading pics? Don't know what is different from last year but it seems like most of my pics are too large. Is there any way I can format them different so they take up less space? For now I will share what I can. Trails were mostly good.........
  17. Nice report Alain, love the snow in the trees. Thanks for the pics.
  18. Am I missing something or what? Don't you guys all ride the same brand? I heard of guys knocking each others sleds before but usually they are on different manufacturers stuff. I guess it's all in fun ribbing so i will add mine I can get 16 MPG on my Apex and yes it is heavier than a Doo but it doesn't feel heavy to me and I don't feel like I'm riding on a timebomb either. I really question why anyone would make lightest weight their #1 concern when buying a snowmobile especially to trail ride in Quebec for the most part. I personally don't want to see my sled get that much lighter I may be one of the few to make that statement but to make it alot lighter you would have to make it with alot junkier (plastic, aluminum, or thinner stampings and castings) or use such high quality, harda$$, lightweight, space craft quality stuff that I couldn't afford it. We asked for all the bells and whistles it's gonna cost money and it's gonna add weight. We could go back to the 1980's fan cooled 440's with no suspension talk about light.
  19. They do have a real nice lounge in the basement with a TV and couches and we bought some stuff at the store (SAQ) and took it back there.
  20. Have some pics coming at least one in our group was prepared I got a flashdrive with some pics I just need to find time to post them.
  21. Problem is she likes the sled and not the new ones, they sit up too high
  22. The schoolhouse is up on the hill as you come into town and is owned by the same guy as the gas station. You make your reservations there and eat your meals there if you take the package. It is only a few hundred yards from Tamarac on opposite sides of railroad track. I have stayed at both nicer rooms at schoolhouse but it is more conveinent at Tamarac as you can eat in house and they have a nice bar there. I think this link will take you there it is called Auberge Clova http://www.bonjourquebec.com/qc-en/accommodation-directory/hotel/auberge-clova_14954260.html
  23. Yes I think that is exactly what happened I was cleaning the sled up a week before our trip and found a leak in the chaincase. I took it back to the dealer who I am very good friends with and have never had a problem and they cleaned it up and said it didn't seem to be leaking they thought they must have just not cleaned it all up after working on it but evidently that was not the case.
  24. Yea iceman that iceroad sounds like fun my wife said the guy was going over 70 mph and had the truck sideways a couple times. Then is would lock up the brakes for the "speed bumps" They left Clova 2 hours after the groomer operator did with his pickup and the ski doo but got there only a few min. after they did. Oh and I forgot we have a nickname for Domenic "no problem" because no matter what new problem we threw at him he said "no problem"
  25. About 8,000 mi. on the '06 that broke the axle and 10,500 on my wife's '05 but something def. was not right on the '05 because it only has 300 moles on it (this trip only) since the chaincase was apart at the dealer for a new track, front heat exchanger and front axle bearings.
