  1. GREAT STUFF!!!
  2. One year, we had a blizzard here that dumped 36" of snow. We actually rode our sleds up and down the AC Expressway. That was a blast. Especially when we blasted right through the toll booths at about 80mph! A couple of guys that were with us actually did go down the Parkway that night for about a mile, then came back with us. I think this was around 1996.
  3. Next town over from where? Or, is this a general statement, a warning to ride smart?
  4. I don't know about the phones, I'm gonna try it tonight when my kids get home. But, we have a 1000 watt microwave and it pops a whole bag of popcorn in 30 seconds. ( kernels sitting in an open bowl, out of the bag).
  5. Well guys, just gonna add my $.02. I've owned every brand, including John Deere. I've had at least 3 of each, except Polaris, only 1, would not waste my money on another. My current Apex is my 4th Yamaha. I like it. I ride it and I do all the service work on it. I think for touring the trails in Canada, it cannot be beat. Why are there so many in Quebec? My buddy went from an Apex to an E-tech. He's trading back next year. But, as stated, to each his own. Now, as for price, it is getting out of hand. All I can say is, my dealer tells me that as long as people are not happy with the new models, the used sleds value climbs. He told me that my sled is worth more this year than it was last year! Nobody's trading. Nobody can convince me that any sled is worth $15,000. I love what Yamaha did for 2011. It is NOT worth what they are retailing it for. If Doo turbo's or supercharges the 1200, they'll be be asking the same thing. As for Cat's turbo, that's nothing more than a $13,000 anchor. Slow as hell. This thread is like sitting around at the local pitstop after riding all day. Only difference is everyone is spread out across the Northeast. Kinda fun, eh? (sorry, had to say it).
  6. Hey Groomer, Are those pics after the rain and warm up? If so, it looks like it came back pretty good.
  7. X2 on the Roquemont. Nice place, never a problem. Yamaha dealer across the parking lot. Gas right there. Right off trail 73.
  8. All so true. Best thing that could happen is that there will be no riders right now and they can groom it smooth and then the upcoming cold will freeze it in a smooth solid state. Then any snow will be like white paint on a tabletop.
  9. That was a nice little photo album, great pics. Hope it didn't melt yesterday!
  10. Google Royal Distributing snowmobiling. You will see an option for snowmobile. Then you will see options on the left. I believe it's either under track and suspension or traction. http://www.royaldistributing.com/main/inde...tPageNumber=142. There, try that instead. Use the arrows to flip to page 185, scratchers on the bottom. They look like a good product. I guess they ship to the USA.
  11. Blew 2 belts, then lost the secondary bearing, had that fixed at a dealer, about 75 miles later, the jackshaft snapped in 2 and damaged the bracket that holds the shaft bearing. I've never seen a jackshaft snap like that. Can't wait to find out the cause. I say that there was a flaw in the mounting of the jackshaft. The dealer that fixed the clutch said the motor must have been out of alignment. No way will that cause that much damage. I could see the belts but not all that. My dealer will get the sled this weekend, can't wait.
  12. My gang just got back yesterday. Started in St. Raymond, up around Lac St. Jean by way of Relay 22. Started around and had to cut it short due to breakdown, damn Ski Doo E-Tech. Had to detour down to the HI then back via 23. From what they did ride, they reported very good conditions. Not sure what will happen after tomorrow.
  13. LMAO! That was absolutely GREAT! See, some women just don't get it.
  14. Man, that's terrible! Can't be right. That means the rate went to the negative. Must be the "fee" those duty free stops charge. It's showing $1 US = $1.03 CAD. I remember getting $1.52 CAD for every $1 US. Ahhhhh those were the days.
  15. If you are staying at the Rogumont (spelling?) they have them there, I believe. If not, the Yamaha dealer right across the parking lot probably does. By all means, buy it in St. Raymond, maybe they'll groom 23 north.
  16. A member, Alain aka Towing has been posting almost daily reports with pictures from this region. Everything looks good from his posts. Go back and check them out.
  17. Man, mid January and the ground is bare! That is SAD! I guess this will push my Gaspe' trip back some, if I make it at all.
  18. Keep these posts coming. They serve as a constant reminder of the dangers that our sport can have if we are irresponsible. The more you read about the unfortunate accidents that occur, the more they should help one to think. I heard about a family breaking through the ice and 3 people drowned, one a 3 year old. Are they the 3 you're mentioning? I thought that happened in Vermont, not that it matters. How and where did the ice break? Kinda off topic, but, to anyone's knowledge, due they periodically check ice thickness on lakes and rivers that have trail crossings or connections? Everytime I'm on water, I always wonder about that in the back of my mind.
  19. Same here. Might be planning a long weekend at La Glacier before the end of the month. Just talked to a group that just came back from the area and they said it wasn't any good. I told everybody that I've been following your posts and that it looks good up there. Keep us informed as this might be my only trip this year up there. I might have to cut the season short due to reasons beyond my control.
  20. If I remember, it was a new boyfriend. Like you said, he probably bowed out of that relationship gracefully. I'm sure he didn't want to be out driven by his girl. As for me pulling over, at the time, I had no idea it was a female testing my abilities. I just thought it was one of those "crazy Canadians". I wasn't letting him outrun me. The look on my buddies faces when she took her helmet and balaclava off and the long, blond hair flowed out was priceless. Jaws hit the ground. I'm just glad that I had a more powerful sled than her!
  21. This thread reminds me of something that happened to us up in Mt. Tremblant Park one year. There was 8 of us in a group. We were coming back to St. Zenon from a day trip to Mt. Diablo in Mt. Laurier. We were spread out pretty good. Well as we were rolling along, cruising between 80-90 mph, anyone who remembers that park about 25 years ago knows that this was normal for that area, this red Ski Doo Formula Plus came up behind the group and quickly knocked off one spot at a time. Whoever was riding this sled was cruising well over 100 mph! They finally caught up to the leader, me, and we opened it up for about 5 miles to the big warming hut in that wide open area. At times, there ski was right under my track around bends, but, I would not let them pass. Anyway we both stopped at the hut. The Formula rider didn't get off the sled, yet. As the others caught up, they all wanted to know if he got me because of how he blew by them like nothing. I told them no and told them how we hammered together to the hut. Well, this Ski Doo MX pulls up about 15 minutes after all this and the guy gets off, walks up to the red Formula, starts talking in French and then "he" gets off the sled. "He" takes off his helmet and it's a gorgeous blond girl! Come to find out, the girl wanted to try her new boyfriends sled out and he was riding hers! He said when they switched at La Macaza, he never saw her again. He couldn't believe our story about her and all she did was laugh! Sorry so long, but I wanted to try and paint a good picture of what might happen if your woman gets on a good machine!
