Heard reports in the last week that the gas station at L'Etape is open and so is Mt. Apica (between L'Etape and Chicoutimi)
We headed back from the HI down 23 Apica is open, L'etape Esso is open. However, when you get back on 23 after gassing up, you might find what we did. Ungroomed 23 Etape south to St-Ray. I saw some tracks, but did not venture down for fears of finding something impassable half way to St-Ray. We opted for 369 down to Quebec. Caught 3 into St-Raymond. 3 was a mess! -but the rest was fine. Let me know if you find 23 is open, thanks.

Hey Brian,
looks like it's going to snow Saturday, rain Sunday, so I think this week-end is out. However I am heading up that way Thursday and Friday next week. Let me know what you think about that.

Attention all QR members, I want to head into the Tremblant Park this week-end, however I do not have someone to go with. :sad: I have a spot on my trailer for you!
Or if you are headed up that way this week-end I would like some company on the trail. I went alone last year for the opening week-end and had a blast, but it is Danger Bay by yourself. So if you want to tag along, or are headed that way I would like to join the train. Give me a shout if interested. 518-569-6375 GeorgePlan is to drive up Saturday morning and go from there. If you look closely you can see the guys sled on the drag. These last few are from St. Raymond. Hotel Roquemont is the place to stay.

It was a little too early to stop for a beer, but by the time we got to LaChapelle we were thirsty. The single one is me running out of gas about 3 miles from LaChapelle. We came into Monts Vallin from the Escoumins trail, not even fully marked on the map, but the guy who's hotel we stayed at told us to take it anyway. He was RIGHT, no one but us, shit we had to hold ourselves back it was so fast! Not to mention the tickets we got day one of the trip! Relantissez un peu les boys!

I am sure you already have the option and the know how, but Greg if you are in need of a translator, I am fluent in the language. Grew up in Montreal, went to a french school.

I have the Garmin 60 csx, last year I uploaded a free waypoint marked map, not the most useful on the trail, 9 times out of 10 the trail does not go the way the crow flies. So I am looking for an up-loadable map for the 09-10 Quebec trail system. To tell you the truth, I have no clue how to use most of the functions on the damn thing. But if someone has info on where to get the trail system, or how they use the unit it would be most helpfull.
The best thing I found was the link that scorpionbowl has on his signature, I used his mileage and loops he has posted to plan at least 3 trips last year. I would like to post my loops this year in a similar format.
Scorpionbowl, if you are reeading this. PLease keep posting the tracks. I love your mini site. A great tool.

The mountain vista, is on Montagne Noir's peak near the St-Donat entrance to the Mont-Tremblant Park.
The second one is Bulwinkle's brother at Onatchiway.
I think Bill is a fan of the lunches here.

When conditions are good, and sleds are cooperating... St-Raymond is a hard place to beat as a starting point. I have used it twice this year. We did 73 355 and back, then 23 to the HI and back. The intersection of two great trails, where you are immediately into the bush. I am eager to see your pics. Do these look familiar?

I haven't read frenglish like that in a long time. I read both fluently and still had to have a couple looks before I knew what the heck you are talking about.
Le probleme is BRP. Stands for Bring Rings and Pistons, Ski don't, Ski Boom, and Ski Junk. If they can't improve reliability, they will loose market share in a hurry. The best chassis in the world is still worthless without a reliable motor. Everytime I see a Yamahog in Quebec, I think to myself, there's another former ski doo owner that was let down by Ski Junk. Don't get me wrong, I am a die hard Doo man, but after last season's blow up, and this season's never ending antifreeze ordeal, I am thinking of joining the Yamaha way of life, might be heavy, but most likely will get you home. Everytime I go to the dealership I hear more and more horror stories. Not to mention they will try to get out of any warranty liability for any reason under the sun. I have had three brand new Ski doo's, and I think the 2001 583 was the most dependable. The newer they are the less reliable they are. When I saw the post about the guy who went with his wife for a 2000 mile ride around Quebec with one sled, I though to myself... you are insane. Then I realized he had a ZX chassis Doo. I doubt if a rev or an XP would have made it. Even my buddy who works at the Ski doo dealer opted out of an E-tec that was at less than cost, after the prior dealer paid flooring, he still went out and bought a Yami, makes you think about it.
St-Ray to Jonquiere

We headed north via 355, through Lac Edward. South bound route was down 23 through L'Etape. Opted for 369 to Quebec, then 3 to St-Ray due to the fact that 23 from L'Etape south did not look groomed. :sad: Aside from the last hour on 3 west from Quebec to St-Ray is was great.
A little hard on Saturday morning, not a lot of ski pressure needed! Sunday it was beautiful down 23. 
Two day total was 560 Miles. Not that much snow up in Jonquiere, ran into a local man that told us even Onatchaway was baren....as opposed to normal conditions for this time of the year. 
I am not saying it was snirt, but it was a few inches away from snirt. Here are some pics!
