  1. Fer A Cheval is a great place, a few trails in and out.
  2. We also passed him last week, small, small world.
  3. Yes, no amount of grooming can keep up with the traffic that the mountain gets sometimes. There was a time very few folks went up there, not anymore........
  4. Pictures load top to bottom, slow internet will show only the tops until you let it all load. I have a few more pictures to add here in a bit.
  5. We headed up for a quick ride as this area is very close to us. We headed up in the AM and got on the trail by noon. Thursday was a 140 mile ride. We did a nice loop out towards Kubecs, and back via Cabanon and back to La-Glacier. All of it was pretty darn nice. The area has been receiving a ton of snow. We ran into Dennis out there marking the trails by himself. Sunday was a loop out the long way to Cabanon, then out to Repos, then back down the 33 into St-Michael, than back to Cabanon and the short way back to Le-Glacier for 215 miles. It was really, really nice. Ton's of snow out there and no traffic. 33 is open and groomed the whole way this year. Locals were saying the most snow this time of year since 2004! We found everything very nicely groomed and a fresh coating of snow. Fuel on the trail varied from 1.58 to 1.90 a liter.
  6. http://www.hoteltamarac.ca/ No work for me. http://www.tamarac.ca/php/en/accueil.php Works, but not quite the same.
  7. GOOD NEWS La Chapelle des Monts Valin will operation this season tel. : 418-690-4140 http://www.caribouconscrits.com/english/index.html
  8. Need the up to date data from the guy ground, keep it coming!
  9. Yup, zoo time for sure up there then with only a few places on the mountain to stay.
  10. This is pretty good: http://map.fcmq.qc.ca/motoneige/ Real trails map, click and map your trip, tells you the mileage the whole way. Pretty darn accurate! Mark.
  11. Happened to us one year, plopped the groomer right in. We weren't the first, and won't be the last!
  12. We may all be guilty of it at one time or another, but parking 2 wide across any trail and not riding right can sometimes end badly. Like Andy we have come across sleds where we would have sworn we had the whole area to ourselves. Often these apparent 1 way trails have another way in/out the locals are clued into. Sometimes a camp road access and the like. Always got to try to leave as many options as possible, especially in Quebec. Looks like a good time was had by all for sure!
  13. I am guessing 1 mile to the river, (no telling how the bank is there, and you have to cross 3 RR tracks), 1/2 mile to the trail 1 way and 3/4 to the other.
  14. 1.5 feet for December 2nd is pretty darn AWESOME!
  15. A soon as the clubs start reporting open and conditions good, sledders start showing up. In the early season they are often not ready. Relays, gas, food, not ready yet. Signing, bridge work, frozen water used for the trails, not ready yet. Pockets to play in, sure, ready. Trail systems that have a very good summer system come into play with very little snow, others it takes a bit more time. The groomers that fired up have down so only in the last week, and even then they are several weeks ahead of last year, (awesome!) The good news is it is looking very good for us with the season off to a decent start. Mark.
  16. With careful planning you don't need it, but it sure was handy! In past years depending on who/how it was run it was really nice to have there. Maybe Greg can leverage his contacts in the area and let us know if there is any chance of it being open. Mark.
  17. The feature was there last year. No new updates mainly because the trails not really open for the most part. Soonish up to date reports will start populating. It is decoupled from the official FCMQ and relies on the ADMQ user inputs. Until it starts getting updated, not much use. If you look a t last years data, it got very little updating in general. Still useful for trip planning if someone was kind enough to share their trail experience before your ride. sledmagazine.com is maintaining the official trail reports this season. They had a really nice system 2 years ago,(better than FCMQ), and now it looks they are the real deal. Greg would know more as he is on their team, and also very good friends with the President of ADMQ.
  18. Nice first run, looks like a good time for sure!
  19. I think Jack rides mainly in the Chic-Chocs, you can find him here: www.Gaspe-Snowmobile-Adventures.com https://www.facebook.com/theSledDen
  20. http://www.valinouet.qc.ca/ 145cm so far this season.
  21. Like anywhere, try to buy from the club in the area you ride so the money gets to the trails you actually use.
  22. Bummer. Moving operation to somewhere else?
