  1. What is it with the secondary springs on these things. My 2013 secondary spring broke last trip up with only 2300 miles on the sled. Is this issue resolved with a different spring?
  2. A bad week and another reminder. Kick it back a notch
  3. Sounds like him. He bought a new 4 stroke cat a few yrs ago (green one) He pretty much could stop and talk to about anyone. Upper 60's, actually 69 now.
  4. http://www.lockhaven.com/page/content.detail/id/549801/Snowmobiler-dies-in-accident.html?nav=5009 Sorry to hijac the thread. It just seemed ironic that I was on here and there was another story. I think the thing we can do most is realize that it can happen to anyone. Dick was 69 yrs old and did not ride fast (I picked on him because he rode a cat and I told him that he doesn't have to worry about going fast). Here's the story for anyone that want to know the details. The area is very close to my cabin in Pennsylvania and only a stone's throw from Dick's cabin. It will knock a notch or 2 off of my trails speeds from here on out. Ride safe everyone, you don't have to be riding like a nutcase to get hurt.
  5. Just found out about an hour ago that a friend of mine and a true warrior for our trail system here in Pennsylvania was killed on his snowmobile today back near his camp in North central PA. Don't have all the details but came around a corner on a joint use road and hit a parked truck cutting firewood. Unreal. How quick it all can happen. he was in his 60's, retired pilot, and a good man. RIP
  6. Free weekends deter me from coming up due to all the traffic and it kind of ruins the week before and after because if you are coming up from the states you almost need to string those weekend days together. Even though it's not as bad as it "seems" the word of thefts of entire rigs and sleds is fairly prominent in these parts of PA. It's hard to change that image especially when I can honestly say that I don't feel law enforcement up there really gives a crap about it. That is something that could be changed. If "safe" starting points or parking areas are not available you end up always going to the same place or 2 to ride from and to be honest you can eventually get bored of those same trails. Yes most saddlebag but if you wanted to take the family up for 3 or 4 days and stay at one place, the impression is that there are only a few that you can do that from in the southern areas. Maybe there are more but how do you find out?
  7. Do they EVER catch any of these people? I never hear about them catching anyone, that seems odd to me.
  8. When we were up there, they guy at La Galciere said that the thiefs found a way to easily reproduce the Yamaha Key and they were stealing them left and right. He also said that Polaris was a target sled due to an easy to make key.
  9. Hands down the best beer! Cheeseburgers need a little work though
  10. Very nice as usual. Thanks for taking us along. We are headed that way next weekend

But I'm betting the beer at the hotel was cold at least
  12. Looking forward to the picture report. Still think you should have your own publication. And all those businesses in the area should be thanking you with free meals and gas for all you do. You don't realize how much it helps those of us that are 10 hours away to see and hear honest reports(good or bad but we like the good reports the best!). Thanks! I'll be up in 2 weeks

Thanks for the report. Looking forward to the updates Sounds like the cold weather fixed things right up. From the looks of things there's a few minor weather systems to roll through giving a couple inches here and there. Should help.
  14. they don't usually BS anyone. Dennis is probably working his ass off
  15. Sorry but i dont' agree with the "FREE" weekend thing. I buy my pass and get to go about 9 riding days a year for a seasons pass. Why should it be free for a whole weekend? It wasn't free to groom the trails was it? Sorry but maybe a discounted rate to help pay for the grooming before and after they tear it up, not free.
  16. Thanks! Great report. Definitely could relate to the route and jealous for sure. Might have to try the gouin reservoir and I have the GPS track from Andyman so with that and stakes we should be fine.
  17. They seem like great people, so if nothing else I hope somebody hires them to run their place. They could be great advertisement to anyone owning an establishment. Let them run the place, sounds like that's what they really want to do.
  18. Yea it can be on weekends but for one night not so bad, just got to get away early. Dennis keeps it pretty well groomed though
  19. Best options you guys have mentioned so far, Cabanon, Glacier, and Masse's place. All close, plenty of rooms, Good bars for afterward. What else do you want?
  20. You mean they tell you they don't have any or aren't serving? If so that's very strange however they are more of a fine dining kind of place, maybe the 100 lacs is too but the guy could've just said that and we would've been fine with it. Instead he started slamming place mats down and literally telling us it's not too funny.....and to be honest with you we weren't even close to laughing although we did after that as we paid for our fuel and left. I guess that's why I sometimes prefer the more older and more rustic by nature kind of places. Either way I guess we can only go by what we've experienced
  21. Quebec is so awesome! The drama..... Someone mentioned Relais 22 the other direction, they have a ton of rooms I'm not going but I kind of wish I was now.
  22. 100 lacs....... They were not nice to our group, but to each their own. We were the only ones there and they told us that we were late for lunch....it was 2 PM, didn't know we needed reservations. Our experience though, maybe a bad day for the old guy but I won't be back. Only bad experience I've ever had in Quebec. Nice looking place though. How about that big lodge down the road a ways? Meekos?
  23. I wonder how much this has to do with the great early winter and prospects of a long winter riding season. Sounds like you folks are great hosts and know how to run the place. Maybe you can find another place to run that wants you there, I'm sure you'll have a good following. These things never usually work out the way they should, I'm not suggesting you give up but if the current owner is that relentless you might be fighting a losing battle. Not sure how the legal system works up there but if you can at least consult with a local attorney you might get a very good idea on if you should proceed or not.
  24. That kind of stuff really sucks, no other way to put it. Here in PA, we deal with it when there's nothing but mud and some people think the registration gives them the right to tear up whatever the hell they want to.
