Crazysnow where is this located?
-
Hoping for some more snow and grooming, leaving Friday after work from Ohio . . . . . 17hours in the truck :(! Staying at the Auberge Carcajou for week:)!!
Think Snow
With the area forcast you will be in fine shape ... lots of cold weather and there is plenty of snow in that part of Quebec.

Looks like a nicely groomed start to the Pelchat trail. TQ3 west to Sacre-Couer didn't look too good...
Are they grooming past Lac des Couer yet?
As of 12/30 there was no grooming past Lac des Coeurs ... about 20 miles of wind blown bumpy single track to the C 900 junction , then it gets a little better the last 10 to the Lac Brumes junction.

Nice ! what a great trail ... as fast as you dare to ride !

I found the snow .. Just had a nice 4 day 800+ mile trip on my new 2012 1200X .. North of the Saguenay river.
-
By the looks on the traffic cams it's starting to build up a little at a time in town.

How good is cell phone reception in this area?
Your cell phone is only good for playing games/ taking pics in 99% of the valin area. Heck , the clock even goes to all zeros with my phone in most places up there.

Is this place open for lodging?
Well rates are from 07/08 and it's posted for sale .... i would think , not open
-
Yes it is , the place is at the gateway to the ZEC. I think it's closed and for sure it's for sale as posted on that site. Our group had a stay there back in 07.

Nice , Thanks for the info guys !

Today's update:
8-10" of new powder over a hard packed base, and it was still snowing. The usual early season trails are open, and it doesn't look good for opening new trails off the mountain.
93 to Sacre Couer isn't open, but I took it anyway since it's a great trail. Once you get to the plowed road and you have to take the hard right, you're in trouble. The plowed road wasn't applealing, and the usual trail had some water and lack of snow problems when you hit 172.
Thanks for the updates. Sounds like you had a great day on the trails ! Any plans to check out the pelchat trail ?

Hey Grump
I think what momojonny was getting at was maybe a dealership that far north (chibougamau) could give you some useful advise on how to make that deal happen
-
We will be going up on 12/27-still looking for a cabin-where are you staying?
I'm sure at this point most all places on valin are booked , your best bet is to stay at the holiday inn saguenay ( a advertiser on this site) and truck up to the snow each day.

You found winter !
Thanks Iceman

I did not see a link to the contest on the english side. We can figure out what info they want where and translate can do the rest.
This is where QR's can make a better attempt with the native tongue of our Quebec friends. Let's make it a goal this year to respect Quebec heritage and culture with a little more effort. I find that it is really appreciated and that the effort has opened many doors and friendships. It must really suck to have your french speaking world being squeezed smaller and smaller. Let's not let it die.
Je me Souviens !

Not that great of advise , I got a nice $325 fine a few years ago by la tuque.(139kph) What is not on that list of fines are the extra fees that each town will add on , in my case it was an extra $175! With the mirror deal , i have had a hassle a few times (no fine tho) now i just run with a real mirror.
