gowser
Planning 4 day run Feb 12-15 around Temiscaming, Val D'or, Amos, Lac Failion, Matagami area and looking for route & lodging suggestion. Planning on dropping at Swisha / Joachims Rapides (is that gas station still open in town there?) early Friday morning and heading through the zec on 43. Have run 43 / 386 from to Val D'or previously. Great running but not interested in taking that route this time. Would welcome suggestions for Swisha to ?? and lodging for days 1, 2 and 3 bearing in mind we'd like to be back in Swisha / Joachims midday Monday. Don't mind 200 pls per day Fri / Sat / Sun Thanks in advance Gowser

gowser
James, thanks for the update on the gas station as well as the trail conditions. Where did you get to last weekend? We usually ride right for our doors in Dunrobin but as you are probably aware there is ZERO snow on the river and everything is pretty much nuked above Quyon until you get close to Laurier. We've ridden from home to Val D'or, Clova, Parent, Laurier and home again a few times but have never spent anytime in and around the Temiscamingue, Amos, Val D'or area save for crashing out at the Forestel. Was hoping to hear back from someone local or familiar with the area as previous posts would indicate there are a few on here that are. Hopefully they are out riding or just haven't checked the site lately as we'd really appreciate some feedback. Anyway, thanks again for replying. Cheers, Gowser
Woodman
I live in C-Bay just up the road from you and feel the pain of no local snow! Last weekend, in search of snow, hauled to Swisha - two to three feet of snow but hadn't been groomed in a while. But who cares these days. Have ridden 43 solo to Timiskaming and on another trip to Pavillon Verendrye via 386. Nice runs. We'll be in Val d'or this weekend so may have some more info for you on Monday. gowser
Ride safe and enjoy. I expect it will be busy as its the free weekend. Just booked the Auberge Canadienne for the 11th, Forestel the 12,13th and Camp Ronoda on the 14th. Excepting spending an extra night in Val D'or we're going to follow the tracks of the guys that made a similar loop last week. PLAYHARD
Don't count on Pourvoirie Du Lac Faillon, they're closed for the winter.
