towing
Although we were a little fearful about the trail conditions that we may encountered after our return under the rain on Thursday, we still tried Krikri and me for a ride last Saturday accompanied by Snowcruiser that had to break-in a beautiful brand new toy. It was actually a very good idea because the trail conditions were really good. So we made our start from the gas station Harnois in St-Damien de Brandon and moved north to go to dinner at the Pourvoirie du lac Blanc followed by a good loop through Mastigouche wildlife reserve. Here is the track of the ride At start ... Just after leaving, just up the first mountain, we encounter a FCMQ team patrol that made verifications. Ironically, it was our first check this year! Snowcruiser been happy for having made his pass transfer on his new sled... As for trail conditions, it was a very hard, flat base covered with a layer unraveled worked by the dozer. Quick conditions almost ideal with plenty of bite at the skis but we should still be cautious because ice patches occasionally. These are the trails along roads which are not so good and although we've seen a couple of earth spot during the ride the trails were still very good. We pass by Real Masse ... and continued on the # 350 east through the Koubec to pick up the trail a Gaston (still # 350) that was beautiful ... We then went to fuel up at St.-Alexis des Monts village and were then see if the river just north was crossable this is really a platform that's underneath so no problem and we continued on a beautiful trail. Here near the Auberge du Lac a l’eau claire The trail on the lake was very icy but we crossed it at moderate speed without problems We continued to the #23trail that we took westbound And made a loop in the Mastigouche wildlife reserve before returning to the Koubec ... towing
And then repeated the same trail that went to return In conclusion, the trails survived really well at the last week warmup. By cons, forecasts for next week are more worrisome and I really hope that this was not our last ride in the area this season ...
