  1. The tapatalk is like having a favorites list for sights like this.
  2. Thanks for looking into it. Maybe someday the systems will evolve enough to make it more attractive.
  3. I have SledGPS only because they are the only ones that have all of VT and Quebec, the 2 places I ride. So far their maps have not been very good. They look like the exact same data as the Polaris trail app. That free color coded routable Quebec map that went around was much better. But like everyone else here has noticed, in a pinch a second opinion can be worth it's weight in gold, so I keep SledGPS on the back burner. I have actually been trying to help the guy, Marcus, get some better data through VAST and forums like this. If it ever happens I will be sure to let people know.
  4. This USB power cord issue is why I think my next GPS will be a 78 series. They have the same functions as a 62 but they still have the big rugged 4 pin connector. The 78 is a marine unit.
  5. I'm new to Tapatalk bu and just scratching the surface but here is what I've noticed so far. When I use my Ipod to check out QuebecRider I have to go to Google type in the address on a keyboard the size of a stick of gum. With Tapatalk any forum you prefer (that subscribes) is in your accounts and is accessible as an enail account. Two touches and you are there. When I use it on DooTalk and I want to send a picture there is no more resizing to mess around with. Just take the pic and post it. It takes about 5 seconds. I think we would have many more pictures posted here the day they were taken by riders on the trails. It seems like everywhere we stay now there is wifi so posting pics from remote areas is super easy. If anyone else can add to this please chime in.
  6. I would like to see Quebec rider use Tapatalk. The big reason for me is that it is so easy to snap a quick picture and post it. Does anyone else use it? From their websight... Q: How do I activate Tapatalk on my forum? A: Activation is free of charge. Login to Forum Owner Area to download the Tapatalk Plugin and get staretd
  7. Here's my 2 cents worth, still makes me laugh when I look at it
  8. Wait until you find out what a great resource Doo Talk is..go ahead, Google it.
  9. No problems as long as you remember where your locking key is! And the mount does not freeze. Zumos have a weird way of saving tracks too. I guess you pay your dues learning the quirks with any GPS though.
  10. I rode that trail a couple days ago, it was fantastic. I did not see anyplace for gas out in the middle anywhere but we all made it just fine. I'm attaching our tracks.
  11. That's what I meant earlier about sending them all at once. Here is what I do, there may be other way as well. to start you need both maps in mapsource. Select the toppo tiles you need, no more because it will just take too long. A list will start forming in the left hand column. After you get all those, go to the upper left drop down box and select the trail map. Select the whole thing. That will show now in the left hand column too. Now is a good time to save it. Next hook up your GPS and send maps to device. You may have to zoom in quite a bit before the trail overlay shows up. Setting the map detail to "most" will help. If you still don't see it check your map inventory on the gps to see if it is listed.
  12. So did you go right a KM 106 after the Repos instead of left or was it further back? The only way Ive ever been there before this year was via Chateauvere.
  13. Have you tried sending the trail map to your gps yet? I have pretty much the same set up, 60csx quebec downloads, and city nav instep of topo
  14. Hey Markusvt are those old tracks in your picture? We did that run a couple weeks ago differently. The trail after the Repos went more to the left and passed right by the front door of Kat. instead of hanging the left at the intersection to get down into their door yard. Just wondering.
  15. I came from Meekos to St michelle on the 63 a few weeks ago, a few miles before the park, on the west side (we were traveling east) the 63 all but disappeared. Did about 12 miles of "This can't be it" One sled wide in a maze of local trails. IDK how we got through it, but when we did we found a groomed trail that had not had tracks on it for days and a strip of yellow caution tape across the trail. I don't know why that section was closed, maybe for a bridge with some bad decking and a somewhat washed out approach on one end? If anybody knows what I'm talking about I'd love to know what was going on there.
  16. Do you have a garmin? I don't see why you couldn't. That is what overlay maps are for. One of the tricks is to send all of your selected maps from mapsource to your garmin at once. If you do it separately you will keep overwriting the the old data with the new.
  17. here you go: http://www.mediafire.../?lwo2wd454bbco It is the entire province. never seen it any other way
  18. I just reloaded everything now I get a message that "there are no roads near starting point". Well that makes sense since I disabled all my other maps and I'm 100 miles from my starting point..that makes me think it is going to work when I'm on the trail. Does that sound right to anyone?
  19. Just went to the Garmin sight to check that, my GPS is up to date
  20. I downloaded favarcat's routeable Quebec map to mapsource and everything seems to works fine, created some routs and they worked fine. Sent everything to my 60CSX which I have done before so I know how to do it correctly, or so I thought.. but I get an error message when I try to make a route with this map. I turned off all other maps in the GPS first and selected "follow road". Even a short route from the Repos to the bird feeder does not work. Anyone have any ideas?
  21. Well I'd say you are at the point where it's OK to take the back of the 60CSX and see if a drop of well placed solder can save it. Here is what you are getting into: http://forums.iowageocachers.org/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=2926 I think this can be saved.I bet you will find something that doesn't look right.
  22. First, make sure a known good device works in your lighter plug. Cell phones often blow the fuse that powers the lighter outlet. Second, test the fuse in the new plug, there should be a .5 amp fuse in there. After that plug in your new adapter and put a voltmeter on the 4 hole plug. If you look very closely you may find there are only 2 holes with any pin connectors in them. I forget which 2 it is, 2 are for data, 2 are for voltage. You could also use a test light for this. If all that does not check out you have found your problem. If it does all work, then I would try powering the unit up with the USB cord and a computer. If that works then I'm afraid you may have a broken pin in your GPS. I bet you will find a bad fuse.
  23. I case anyone is on the fence between sledGPS and the free Quebec trails download found on this sight, we tested them side by side last year and neither one is perfect. Too close to call as to which was better.
  24. Here is my gade set up for long trips. I usually get stuck carrying half of Snomaster2112's items along with my own.
  25. Picnic lunch Quebec style. On the beds near Cabano
